Pau planned to attempt to intimidate the man, but as he cleric took a softer approach, the monk followed suit.

"Hmm, well I don't know much about a rightful owner. These things are ancient, and artifacts purchased transfer ownership. How they came to be for sale is not my concern."

Urktar mutters to his great sword, "Yer right, Bert. Mr. Nice Guy just doesn't suit me."
As Urktar strides up to the man he casually flicks the blood off his blade at Tandir's feet.
"Listen, you puny little human, either turn over the statue or tell us who has it. Otherwise I'll torch this lame li'l warehouse of yours and feed you to my ma's orc tribe." Urktar leans in close and whispers this last bit in Tandir's ear. "Ya look way too fat and gristly for my tastes..."

The counter has a secret compartment with a strongbox containing 300 pp. Also in the strongbox is one of the linen-wrapped Osirian statues - a Golden Giraffe. This statue is 8 inches tall and weighs 2 pounds. It’s an accurate depiction of a giraffe, including carved markings to represent spots, eyes, and so on.

![]() |

Pau grabbed the statue of the giraffe, carefully storing it in his satchel. ”I knew you’d see it our way. Let’s go find the others,” he says without a glance at the shady merchant.

As his companions exit, Kaiyode lingers and leans on the counter.

"So, should we find Viraj Arpani now?"

Zootloot hops down off the counter. "Well, that turned out well." He checks to make sure his guitar is still situated comfortably on his back and then wipes some imaginary dust off his leather vest. He follows the group out the door but glances back at Kaiyode who is hanging out at the counter. "What's he up to?" he asks no one in particular.
In a few minutes Kaiyode rejoins the group and suggests the next step. "Yep. Old Viraj seems like the next best plan. We just gotta listen for the tinkling bells." Zootloot cocks his head to the side and cups a hand to his ear. A grin splits his face as he pretends to hear the bells.

You head off in search of your next target. What Torch said was true—he is unmistakable. Sitting on the rim of a fountain, the man appears to be contemplating the contents of a small intricately carved wooden box. The many pouches of his flowing, bell-covered robes bulge with various small items, and wands and rods stick out from odd folds. Under his arm he casually carries an item wrapped in shipping linens but by its shape it is almost surely a statue.

![]() |

Urktar will attempt to casually move to the far side of fountain in case Viraj runs when the others in the group speak with him.

Kaiyode hails the man.
"Viraj Arpani? We'd like to talk to you about the statue. It is stolen and we'd like it back."
He points at the bundle under Viraj's arm.

With that, Arpani chants and moves his fingers in intricate arcane patterns. His form loses substance and turns to a wispy cloud, but as it does, the bundle under his arm begins to vibrate, crackle, and grow. His eyes widen as his body resolidifies and the statue bursts out of its wrappings, seemingly absorbing the arcane energy from Viraj’s failed spell. Linen, strings, and little bells skitter across the paving stones. On the ground now, the statue continues to grow, taking on the form of writhing, giant centipedes.
