Lukas Kains |
"Ouch!" Lukas cries out, "Here we go again with these guys." He slips his sling off his belt and says, "Let's take care of the ones nearest the door, in case we have to get out of here in a hurry."
Move action to draw sling.

Jalthan Arvandru |
Jalthan starts inspiring his companions with tales of the unexpected.
Inspire Courage is up! +1 competence bonus to attack and damage rolls, +1 morale bonus to saves against fear and charm.
Celes Rose |
Celes, curses as she takes a rock to the head.
Am I able to free action: drop axe, move action: draw longbow and arrow at same time, standard action: fire arrow
If yes:
Celes, drops her axe and draws her longbow and an arrow with one fluid motion. She takes aim, at the closest kobold and lets an arrow fly.
targeting purple: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 + 1 = 161d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
If no:
Cels, drops her axe, and grabs a spear from her back. She takes careful aim and throws it at the kobold.
using same attack roll if possible.
spear damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Jebediah Lillywag |
Celes as this is the surprise (one standard action only) round that likely isn't gonna work out. Jebediah casts color spray targeting orange and red.
Jebediah, like his companions is caught by suprise, but has another blast of colorful energy in store for the Kobolds.
GM Bold Strider |
@Celes: You could do either, if you had some way to perform a standard and a move in the surprise round. As it stands, you can only draw a weapon.
@Jebidiah: Next time, please list the Save Type/DC for spells.
Lukas and Celes draw ranged weapons as Jalthan inspires his comrades. Jebidiah seizes the opportunity to try and knock out two kobolds with Color Spray.
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Surprisingly, Jebidiah's color spray is significantly less effective as it does nothing by incite them to more violence and draws the ire of those two slingers.
"Die intrudersssss! Halfling sssshtew for sssshupper!" one of them yells.

Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 1 = 9
Falzeal trips over Jalthan's foot and the bolt hits the ceiling!
GM Bold Strider |
Falzeal launches a bolt at the nearest kobold, however his mishap causes the bolt to go wide and embed itself in the ceiling.
Lukas and Celes have better luck as they each fell a kobold with their ranged attacks.

Jalthan fires off his shortbow, however the arrow thuds into the rocks behind his target. Jebidiah follows up with a dagger, catching the reptile in the shoulder causing him to hiss out in pain.

Jalthan takes a step aside, pulls out a potion out of his belt pouch, and drinks it.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Oh, really...
Meanwhile, he continues to inspire his companions!
GM Bold Strider |
Put arrows up and none of them go through anyone else. What were you thinking Jalthan?
Lukas beans the same kobold once more, but he stands firm!
Celes' javelin falls into the ground, her technique leaves a bit to be desired.
Falzeal puts a bolt in a kobold's chest, killing him on the spot, while Jebidiah's dagger just catches one of the kobolds with its pommel, barely hurting him.
Dagger Critical: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Confirming for Jeb

Jalthan Arvandru |
GM: I was at 5/15, so healing 2 hp would bring me to 7 hp, not 6.
Jalthan continues to inspire his companions, and starts casting a spell.
Casting sleep, Will DC 14, at pink and black kobolds.
Lukas Kains |
Fueled by Jalthan's inspiration, Lukas takes a step deeper into the cavern and spins his sling up again, whirling it especially fast. He lets go with a fierce exhalation, but the sling stone travels almost straight up, smashing into the stone ceiling and showering Lukas and Celes with tiny fragments of rock.

I just realized something, since when did a small sling bullet do d4 damage instead of d3?
GM Bold Strider |
Either way...
Falzeal shoots another bolt, piercing the heart of the black-sashed kobold, sending him to the Boneyard well before old age.
Jebidiah and Jalthan incapacitate the pink-eyed kobold, knocking him unconscious on his platform.
The three remaining kobolds seem to get angrier as their brethren fall. They launch more rocks at you!

GM Bold Strider |
Jebidiah heals himself slightly as the rest of the party launches a salvo of attacks. Celes and Lukas take down one of the remaining kobolds, leaving only a single kobold behind.
He launches a rock at the human, however the rock swings back around and clobbers him in the face, knocking him unconscious.

Lukas Kains |
"Wow, I sure hope that was most - or all - of their guards!" Lukas says. "They beat us up pretty good, especially Jalthan and Celes. You guys want to get healed up a bit, then maybe we got back and check out the other fork in the tunnel we came in through, so we don't miss anything?"
Jalthan Arvandru |
"What an epic battle! Ow.. I had no idea adventuring was so painful." realizes Jalthan as he complains about his many bruises. "Is anyone able to provide magical healing?"
Lukas Kains |
Since we still don't have a wand of CLW, we need to choose: go back and rest and heal again or risk pushing ahead. I'm not badly wounded, so I'm okay with pushing on, but others have been hit pretty hard.
Celes Rose |
Celes will grab her various thrown weaponry, then check the scaly bastards for anything of interest. She takes a vial, uncorks it and throws the contents down in one swift swallow.

"I don't mind pushing forward but I think I'll stay behind, it's such an appropriate place to get inspiration and a little... hindsight on our ongoing tale. Walk on, brave warriors!"
Lukas Kains |
Back to the fork in the first entrance tunnel, going right where we went left the first time. I moved Lukas to the spot I have in mind.
Lukas Kains |
Yes, push on indeed. I've moved Lukas to where I think we should go next. I think Tek (Falzeal) has been having computer issues, not sure what's up with the other players.
