GM Bold Strider |

Lukas sees a doorway to the right in the fork and slowly opens it while peering into the darkness. The corpses of three dead dire rats litters the room. A search of the room shows that these might have been pets or they might have been corralled here until one of the stronger kobolds could deal with the infestation.
As the group loops around to the left passage in the fork. The group's torches light the way and they see a long room. The ceiling of this chamber rises to a lofty twelve feet. The cave floor drops away into a pair of long, ten-foot-deep pits. Between them, a ridge of stone forms a dubious walkway to a landing on the opposite side, where a five-foot-wide shaft with a knotted rope hanging down into it awaits.
A successful DC 15 Climb check is needed to safely climb down into or up out of one of the pits.

Lukas Kains |

Lukas says, "I think I can get across this room with no trouble, and I'll string a rope along behind me, so anyone else crossing can hold into it." He pulls his trusty rope from his pack, hands one end to Celes and ties the other end around his own waist.
He then walks easily along the stone ridge to the far side, turning to call out, "Who's next?" To Nighttail, he says, "What are these pits about, anyway?"
Take 10 on Acrobatics for a 19. That should suffice for anything wider than 2 inches.

GM Bold Strider |

As Lukas and Jebidiah stride forward boldly, three rocks fly out of small holes in the wall to their right.
Sling @ Lukas: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Sling @ Lukas: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Sling @ Jeb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Lukas takes two stones to the shoulder while the third clatters against the ground at Jeb's feet.
Damage: 2d3 - 2 ⇒ (3, 1) - 2 = 2 2 Lethal and 1 Non-lethal
Initiative:
Celes: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Lukas: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Jalthan: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Jebidiah: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Falzeal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Kobolds: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
It looks like you have to cross the rock bridge to reach the other side which leads behind the wall with the sniper holes.
Initiative:
1st: Celes; Lukas; Jalthan; Jeb; Falzeal
2nd: Kobolds (Red; Orange; Yellow; Green; Blue; Purple)

Lukas Kains |

The description made me think it was a much more challenging crossing than that, which is why I set up the whole rope idea. If it wasn't necessary, I would prefer we just skipped the rope.
Lukas darts along the narrow stone bridge, reaching the first of the kobolds hiding behind the wall. He lashes out with a foot, trying to bring the kobold down!
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Jebediah Lillywag |

Assuming Jebediah made it over the bridge...move and cast color spray. A 15 foot cone should catch all of them DC15
Jebediah moves around the corner to where the Kobolds are lurking and calls forth dazzling lights reminding the Kobolds of their place in the heavens.

Jalthan Arvandru |

Jalthan waits to see if Jebediah's spell works. If two or more kobolds are standing, he will start narrating a story of high adventure.
Delay, then Inspire Courage if necessary.

Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Jebidiah sprays the group of tightly packed kobolds with colors as three of them slump to the ground.
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Will Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Falzeal's similar action is not as effective, but these two kobolds already resisted Jeb's stronger version. And then there were two...
Celes double moves as Lukas trips one of the remaining kobolds and Jalthan inspires. The final kobold drops his weapon and raises his hands. "Don't kill me!"
"We should secure them instead of killing them. I can't have my own warren without people to populate it." Nighttail advises.

Lukas Kains |

Wow, I was completely unaware there was a new DM post 9 days ago! Sorry about that.
Lukas helps Celes tie up the kobolds, using strips of their own clothing. "We've used my rope so much in this place, I don't want to leave it with these little guys," he explains.
When this is done, he goes and peers down the shaft at the far end of the room, asking Nighttail, "What's down there?"

Jebediah Lillywag |

Jebediah leaves the task of tying up the kobolds to his friends. Afterall with his scorched hands he is of little use. Once they have them secured the halfling is ready to move on.

Lukas Kains |

Lukas waits for Celes to lead the way, then follows her down the rope.
Let's go down, gang! We've been looking down this hole for a week. If Celes doesn't want to go first, Lukas will.

Lukas Kains |

Knowing all the trouble they've run into with the various surprises the kobolds have laid for them, Lukas studies the room very cautiously before moving away from the rope.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Lukas Kains |

"Yep, seems like the next thing to do," Lukas agrees, following Celes into the next room.

GM Bold Strider |

The ceiling at the center of this cave is twelve feet high. A crude idol stands in the middle of the cave, decorated with grisly strips of dried viscera.
Two skeletons stand next to a kneeling, red kobold in divine garments. As you rush around the corner, the kobold shrieks and yells in Draconic.
Initiative:
Celes: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Lukas: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Jebidiah: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Falzeal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Kobold: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16
Initiative:
1st: Jebidiah; Lukas
2nd: Churgri; Skeletons (#1; #2)
3rd: Falzeal; Celes

Lukas Kains |

Lukas darts forward and sweeps a foot low, attempting to bring down one of the skeletons!
Move up, trip the red skelly.
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

GM Bold Strider |

Lukas moves forward and sweeps the leg out from under the bloodied skeleton as Jebediah tries to convince the skeleton in blue rags to attack its master. Jeb's spell seems to have no effect on the mindless creature.
The skeleton stands up and lashes out at the human. Provokes from Lukas.
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Churgri weaves some dark magic as it seems to coat her body before commanding her other skeleton to stand ready to attack.
Initiative:
1st: Jebidiah; Lukas
2nd: Churgri; Skeletons (#1; #2)
3rd: Falzeal; Celes

Lukas Kains |

Lukas kicks at the skeleton as it tries to get to its feet, then punches it once it’s standing. He then moves quickly to one side.
AoO and attack. If the skeleton goes down, will 5-foot step into its square. If it’s still up, will 5-foot to current position on the map.
Unarmed Strike vs Prone: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 4 = 21 AoO
Unarmed Strike damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Unarmed Strike damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Celes Rose |

Hey Falzeal, see if you can take out the damned skeleton, I want at the scaly bastard behind him.
delay, if Falzeal kills skeleton, Celes will rage and attack caster. Otherwise, I will attack the skeleton without rage.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14 +2 if raging vs caster
damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 +2 if raging vs caster

GM Bold Strider |

Falzeal blasts the skeleton as Celes cuts a deep gash across the kobold's chest, dropping the cleric on to the ground with a single swing.
A quick appraisal of her items lets the group find: potions of cure light wounds (3), chainmail, mwk quarterstaff, cloak of resistance +1, spell component pouch, gold unholy symbol of Vapula (worth 100 gp).
A quick peek around the corner shows another cavern. The northern half of the chamber consists of a two-foot-deep, bowl-shaped section of smoothed stone covered with leaves and downy bird feathers. Carefully nested in this place are doznes of scaly, green-tinged kobold eggs, each about the size of an orange.
Two kobolds and a large lizard seem to be on guard, but aren't paying much attention. Apparently, the cleric makes a lot of noise.

Lukas Kains |

Not sure quite where the bad guys are on the map, but I'll try this:
Lukas pockets a healing potion and gestures to his companions to join him in sneaking around the corner. Moving very quietly indeed, he steps into the room and attempts to sweep the feet out from under the nearest guard.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Who wants the cloak? Lukas will wait until loot is allocated to take the action described above.

Jebediah Lillywag |

Too bad Lukas already moved in this sounds like a great opportunity for stelth into color spray.
Jebediah attempts to bewitch the big lizard to eat the still standing Kobold.
Cast Murederous Command DC 15

Lukas Kains |

Lukas can certainly let Jeb go first and cast his spell, then move in on the guards. I said he'd wait for loot distribution, he can also wait because someone in the party has a good idea.

GM Bold Strider |

Assuming you wait for the Slurk to act out...
Will Save: 1d20 ⇒ 1
The slurk yawns deeply as Jebidiah causes it to become enraged. As it turns, the group sees that it is more of a cross between a walrus and a toad. The creature leaps on the nearest goblin and...
Bite: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Min damage will go through all HP...
... bites off his head in one clean motion. The other goblin squeals and tries to poke the beast with his spear. He savages the slurk with his spear. "That was Stubtail, you stupid beast! NOT STUBTAIL!"
Spear: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Spear: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Damage: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2, 4) + 6 = 14
Initiative:
Celes: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Lukas: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Goblin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Jebidiah: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Falzeal: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Slurk: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Initiative:
1st: Falzeal; Lukas
2nd: Slurk
3rd: Jeb
4th: Goblin
5th: Celes

Lukas Kains |

Nice work, Jeb!
Lukas sees that the walrus-toad creature is injured, and hopes to finish it off, or at least injure it further. He tumbles past Jeb and up to the slurk’s side, where he kicks it as hard as he can.
Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Unarmed Strike damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
DMBS – is the slurk really large? That’s a scary slurk! And hard to trip…

Lukas Kains |

"I've been accused of worse things than being responsible for taking out a monster like that," Lukas says as he crosses the room.
as he gets close to the kobold, does a quick jab as if he's going to punch the little dragon-kin, but at the last second he sweeps a foot out instead, tripping the thing to the floor.
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
