Attempting to stealthily move through the circular corridor, you are unable to sufficiently muffle the sound of boots on floor or clinking metal.
The chanting stops suddenly and you hear a clicking chittering sound as though chitin on stone before a seductive voice calls out "Come forward sting slayers and stone seekers.... I would swap words with you." The owner of the voice seems to be inside the circular room that you are skirting, an entrance to which is looming ahead....

Setesh Bantling |

Setesh immediately steps backwards, so that it looks like the other three have volunteered :-P
Emboldened, Setesh steps forward, motioning for the others to follow suit.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Moving further around the corridor you come to the rough arch that provides entry to the central chamber. Within is a scene of some horror that causes your stomach to jump momentarily into your throat.
Carpeting most the floor is a thin mat of small scorpions, constantly moving over each other. There are some larger man-sized scorpions flanking the altar and figure that stands directly opposite the arch. The altar is crude stone and the iconography surrounding it is clearly devoted to the rough beast. However none of this is what draws your attention....
Standing before the altar is a horrific amalgam of woman and beast. The upper torso is naked and that of a comely woman with cat's eyes and sharp fangs, while the lower body is that of a horse sized scorpion - with stinger held high and dripping venom. The female head regards you with interest and speaks with the same seductive and honey coated intonation...
"Enter stone-seekers, my pets will not harm you unless instructed. I would see all of you..."
You know what's listed in the PRD for a Lamia, though this is a variant creature with the lower body replaced to be from a scorpion and not a lion.
Basically this:Waist up and waist down

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Voice returning to it's seductive intonation as Jaru steps forward "Better priest, there is nothing to fear and I would even forgive your slaying of my brood above... if you yield something to me."
Claws clicking as she shuffles slightly to the side and waves an arm toward the altar "You have angered the Great Destroyer by seeking to reopen that which should not be. This displeases him, and therefore displeases me..." shuffling back before the altar and fixing a sultry gaze upon Jaru.
"Give up the wayfinder and stones, leave this place and go back to your stone walls. Your lives will be yours until the Rough Beast arises to devour this world.... otherwise...." leaving the threat hanging in the air unfinished so that your imagination fills in the blanks.

Tarik Veihess |

Tarik follows the others into the room warily. "I do not like this place much, but I must say I like the look of you even less my dear lady. Why would you rid yourself of perfectly good legs to be replaced by this? Is Rovagug really so demanding that he wishes you to change your shape for his whims?"

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

The scorpion / woman hisses displeasure at Tarik's words and the demeanor of the scorpion in the room grows more agitated and agressive.
"I was not changed, I was born into this body and form." eyes glancing at the insectoids within the room "Ware your words away from insults, or you risk upsetting my children..."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12 - heh, epic fail
...though it is clear that the creature is attempting to force you to back down, you remain uncowed.

Setesh Bantling |

Setesh regards the 'woman' incredulously.
"Although I do not deny the raw fury of The Rough Beast and his terrible spawn, I, for one, have no intention of backing down. I offer a counter: Leave, and never bother us again, or we kill you, and turn your 'pets' into trail rations!"

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Takes a note, Noor is much scarier than any of my BBEGs... though the +4 doesn't apply in this case, as she is large as well.
Noor: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5
Jaru: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Tarik: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Lamia: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Scorpions: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (12) + 0 = 12
The smaller scorpions move forward to take a defensive position before the scorpion bodied Lamia. She then screeches in a harsher voice "Very well, you will be food for my children!"... though you can detect a slight quiver in her voice.
The scorpion carpet moves towards you also, though does not reach your feet yet....
Action Tracker (Round 1): Scorpions / Tarik, Setesh, Noor / Jaru, Lamia
Active Conditions:
Lamia: shaken until end of Round 2
Noor: enlarged, shield
Setesh: Str mutagen, shield
Map will be up tonight, but highlights are that you can't charge the lamia directly due to intervening scorpions.
Room is roughly 50ish foot and circular.
You are at the Northern entrance bunched around the door. The scorposwarm has moved to just in front of you - between you and the lamia.
The lamia is at the South end, with her bigger scorps protecting her.

Tarik Veihess |

Tarik takes a step back from the scorpion carpet and pulls his scroll of Scorching Ray from his scroll case. Reading off the words of power, he gestures precisely, releasing the ray from his finger at the scorpion woman.
Scorching Ray attack:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Damage:4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 1) = 17

Setesh Bantling |

Round 1:
25/25 hp, AC 23/11/22, CMD 19, Mutagen(Strength), Shield.
Setesh shrugs, and rushes forward, taking a swing at one of the scorpions!
Moving to C6.
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20, for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 P/S/B damage.

Noor El'Harkon |

Round 1
Noor moves to avoid the swarm and closes in on the Scorp-itch. "You are disgusting!"
20' move avoids the swarm (that will not be fun here in a bit). Left corner to G-6 and 10 ft reach to Lamia. Not sure if cover is provided by the scorps as we are both large, but adjust as necessary.[/ooc]
Power Attack Large Masterwork Falchion -> 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
[ooc]Power Attack Large Masterwork Falchion Damage -> 2d6 + 9 ⇒ (6, 5) + 9 = 20 Big boots indeed!
Status: 25/25 hp; 19/16 AC; Enlarge Person, Shield

Tarik Veihess |

Tarik shreds the now useless paper in anger before he begins muttering more words of power. Moving forward, he slams his hand into the scorpion swarm, spreading lightning through it.
Spending Arcane Point on Arcane Accuracy.
Touch attack for Shocking Grasp:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage:3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3) = 12

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

The lamia screeches in pain as Noor's sword gives it a deep wound.
Attempting to strike back through guarded spellcasting...
Defensive casting: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 11
...the lamia is unable to concentrate effectively. Seems you really hurt it's feelings Noor :P
The smaller scorpions remain where they stand and strike out at Setesh and Noor...
Scorpion 1 @ Setesh: Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 Sting: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Scorpion 2 @ Setesh: Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Sting: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

Scorpion 1 @ Noor: Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 Sting: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Scorpion 2 @ Noor: Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 Sting: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Crit Conf on Scorp 2 Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
1 Claw hit for 1d4 ⇒ 4; 1 Sting hit for 1d4 ⇒ 1 plus a DC 12 Fort save or 1d2 ⇒ 2 Str damage
The swarm of scorpions floods forward across the ground towards Tarik and Jaru...
Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
...and although they bite and sting at Tarik, the nimbus surrounding Jaru keeps them at bay.
Tarik takes 1d6 ⇒ 1 damage, and has a DC 13 save vs Distraction (staggered for 1 round if failed); and a DC 12 Fort save vs Poison (1d2 ⇒ 2 Str damage if failed)
Tarik - may want to rethink the Round 2 action, as swarms are unaffected by any spell that targets a single creature.
Action Tracker (Round 2): Scorpions / Tarik, Setesh, Noor / Jaru, Lamia
Damage Tracker:
Lamia - 20
Scorpion - D,7 - 12

Setesh Bantling |

*Cough* Yes, the descriptive text was a little out of whack...
Round 2:
25/25 hp, AC 23/11/22, CMD 19, Mutagen(Strength), Shield.
Setesh shuffles along the row of scorpions, pounding them into so much pulp...
5' step to D6, and then working his way along the line of scorpions...
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21, for 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 S/B damage.
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23, for 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 S/B damage.
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27, for 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 P/S/B damage.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Tarik - Jaru speaks the truth. Probably best to ignore the swarm (trying to stay out of it's midst at least) and focus on the scorps.
You've got until 'Big Boots Bessy' weighs in to ret-con your action - otherwise I'll just assume you join Setesh at the buffet line
Action Tracker (Round 2): Scorpions / Tarik, Setesh, Noor / Jaru, Lamia

Apologies for the tardiness - long weekend in Malaysia and a 3 year old who is increasingly deciding that midday is not a time for napping...
Tarik moves forward away from the multitudinous swarm and towards the larger prey. Sword slashing out and opening a rent on the side of one of the scorpions.
Noor misses the lamia with her blade, which emboldens the monstrosity to attempt spellcasting once more....
Casting defensively: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 11
...though she is unable to focus effectively whilst weaving away from Noor's blade. Hmm - hopefully the lamia actually gets to do something this fight...
The cave scorpions split their focus between the larger Noor and smaller Tarik.
Scorpion @ Tarik: Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 Sting: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Scorpion @ Noor: Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 Sting: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 for 1d4 ⇒ 1 damage
The swarm forsakes an attempt on the blue glowing priest, and instead moves to assault Noor and Tarik.
1d6 ⇒ 5 damage and DC 13 Fort save vs distraction and DC 12 Fort save vs poison - same as last round

Round 3:

Nodding to Tarik and Noor, Setesh steps-up to the Lamia, and starts to feast...
5' step to E7, and then full attack the Lamia :-)
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28, for 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 S/B damage.
Claw: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18, for 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 S/B damage.

Fort save vs Distraction -> 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Fort save vs Poison -> 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 Argh! Just failed both by one each. 1d2 ⇒ 2 strength damage.
Squirming under the wave of chitinous creatures, Noor tries to escape.

As Noor takes cover from the carpet of limbs upon the floor - Setesh steps up to the lamia and starts working his particular kind of magic.
Flesh and blood fly thick in all directions as Setesh strikes a mighty blow and follows up with a painful bite.

I forgot that I took Strength damage in the earlier scorpion encounter. Adjusting my rolls correctly now.
Save v Distraction:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Save v Poison:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Tarik dances as he attempts to avoid the stinging bites of the swarm, but manages to keep himself focused. Though he suspects his legs will swell with poison, for now he seems to be fine. He takes another swing at the scorpions lined up, viciously taking revenge upon them for earlier events.
Attack1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage:1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Tarik's blade lays the targeted scorpion low.
The lamia then forsakes spellcasting, instead hissing at Noor even as her claws and stinger flash forth...
Claw 1: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Claw 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Sting: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The final remaining scorpion lashes out at Noor also...
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Sting: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
The scorpion swarm moves to envelop Setesh and Tarik within it's bounds...
1d6 ⇒ 2 damage plus saves vs distraction and poison as above.
Can't update the map as I'm at work - but you guys are up.... I'm expecting that this will be the final round....

Setesh Bantling |

Fort (Poison): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12.

Crushing dozens of tiny scorpions underfoot, Setesh deftly steps aside (5' step to F7), and continues to systematically tear the lamia apart...

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

The lamia keens an unearthly scream as Setesh gives it a mortal wound. Collapsing to the floor it's breath becomes ragged and forced.
Noor and Tarik account for the remaining scorpion, and the swarm dissipates in all directions - obviously it's cohesion was tied to the life of the lamia.
The lamia stubbornly raises it's head one final time to speak "كنت لا تعرف ما تقومون به مع اللدغة بالقتلة.
ما يجب أن لا تكون مغلقة بعيدا العنان..." before breathing it's last and collapsing to the floor dead.
What is locked away must not be unleashed..."

Setesh Bantling |

Setesh breathes a sigh of relief when the Lamia dies, although he cannot help shivering slightly at her death pronouncement.
"Well then, let's search this area quickly, and move on. We have the keys to a vault to discover!"
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27.
