Abramov |
Seeing their fortunes collapse like a house of cards as yet another group of magic-induced lunatics approach them, Abramov realises that this day will be one filled with blood. Lots and lots of blood.
Move to S-13 using all 6 squares of movement to avoid AoO's, then attack.

Ceinwynn Davenport |
Ceinwynn swings at the enemy Abramov just attacked (if he is still up/if not, then the other one minus the flanking bonus).
Masterwork Elven curve blade/Arcane Strike/Flank: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 2 = 19
Damage: 1d10 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8
Halsanna Firdraes |
Sighing, Halsanna was thinking that this was not the best of days, a bit saddened at the amount of blood that has been spilled today, and they still had made little progress with what they had arrived to do. 'Maybe I can do this without killing him', she thought to herself and took a step back as she raised her bow, firing a single arrow at the crossbowman. "I'd rather you lot desist", she admitted.

With clockwork precision, Abramov and Ceinwynn gravely wound the sword-wielding guard. He staggers but stays on his feet. Halsanna's arrow grazes the marksman earning a grunt of pain.
Despite being badly bloodied the guards strike back.

Abramov |
The combination of a wicked halberd and a magic-induced frenzy make for a fearsome opponent, but also one that's easy to hit. With precision the doctor strikes, applying lethal force to the lower back of the guard.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Halsanna Firdraes |
Halsanna sighed as the bolt impacted the wood just next to her. She had killed more people here than she had in her entire stint with the company, and it looked like the list was not going to stop increasing. Aiming the bow was easy, the arrow sighted through the crossbowman, and she let the arrow fly. The shot went wide, and she realized she was not focusing on what she was doing, which was something she should know better than to do in a situation like this.
A thought occurred to her, and she took a step up to mention something to Ceinwynn and Kalam. "Um.. I'm no mage, but what if they need a.. 'warm-up' of other angry people first?"

Woa, I just realized, that crossbowman is intense!
"What in the abyss do you mean?", Kalam shoots Halsanna a confused look that quickly turns to a grimace as she is nearly brought down by a viscious crossbow bolt.
Returning his attention to the matter at hand he attempts to finish off the longsword wielding foe.

If the others drop that one, Ceinwynn will move up and attack the archer.
Ceinwynn Davenport |
Yep, archer it is. The one you were flanking went down last round :)
After Abramov 5 ft stepped, Don't I have another one to flank? G2?
Halsanna Firdraes |
Against her best of intentions, the crossbow bolt that hit her left her rather surprised at the seriousness of the wound, and the best she could manage was a look down at the bolt, stumbling back as the severity set in. The bow fell from her fingers as she searched for the emergency potion that she had taken to keeping, only to find it not in her beltpouch since she had not replaced it from the night before. "..Is this for not pouring a drink..?", she wondered distractedly.

Looking back as she strikes another enemy. Damnit girl...get a hold of yourself. If I go down because you are pussy footing around, I will kicked your soft ass! Pick up your bow and shoot!
Halsanna Firdraes |
AC16, HP1/17
Still not having lost her sense of humor in the situation despite its gravity, Halsanna had enough snark in her to give a half-hoarse reply to Ceinwynn's motivating threat. "I dare you to say that with a bolt in your lungs." Pulling the bow back was not something she wanted to do with a bolt in her torso, so she was going to start throwing knives, but she doubted it would come to that. It was the three of them against a single crossbowman, The odds were in their favor for now.
Ceinwynn Davenport |
Ceinwynn walks over and grabs the arrow in Halsanna's chest. She twists it (causing severe pain) before jerking it out and dropping it on the ground. "There. Now you should be just fine."
She walks over to Abramov. "Could you please heal this Doc?" She points at the large gash on her hip.
Waiting for healing, she shoots Kalam a look.
Kalam Sayros |
Kalam winces as Ceinwynn rips the arrow from Halsanna's chest, giving Halsanna a mildly sympathetic look, "Must be residual temper from the magics floating around..."
He merely shrugs at Ceinwynn's pointed look and while the doc patches up the ladies, Kalam pulls the guards to the mouth of the nearby alley and does a quick search of them for valuables or keys and the like.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Satisfied, he takes a sip from his flask and gestures to the alley they are still attempting to reach, "One more push then?"
Checking for any nearby looters he breaks out from the alley towards their target.
Halsanna Firdraes |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Ooooh.. *laughing* I'd argue for causing pain=damage, and 1pt would render Halsanna unconscious, but it suits.
A strangled cry slipped free from Halsanna's clenched teeth as Ceinwynn removed the arrow, and then jerked it out, causing her vision to grey with pain. She hovered on the edge of passing out, her first breath causing a cough that made her wince, turning her head to the side to spit out the blood that came up. "Vicious b****", she spat, managing to not cough again, swaying on her feet.
Kalam Sayros |
Kalam tucks the potions and pouches into his belt before moving on.
I'll likely not take the time to go through them until we have a few moments so I guess the specifics can wait.
Abramov |
"Are we all good? Let's get any healing done before we move on." the doctor says while scanning their surroundings. With no obvious threats in sight he uncorks a vial containing a hissing liquid and downs it with one gulp. Whatever it was, it didn't do much to better his mood. He shook his head from side to side as if something was stuck to it and then rapidly blinked a couple of times.
"Now then. That woman is really starting to piss me off! Let's get her."

DM Feral |
Chasing in the direction she fled, the party pursues the suspect further. After another block, it appears that the worst of the riots is behind you. With no more distractions, the party is able to make up for some lost ground and they find the woman just as she’s darting inside a large tunnel – an entrance to Magnimar’s sewer system.
Halsanna Firdraes |
It was rather interesting, Halsanna mused, as she recovered her weapon and followed the others, how the magic worked to heal them.. One second she was on the verge of painfully coughing up a lung, and then, seconds after, she was breathing fine, and the fear of coughing up blood was gone, along with the aforementioned liquid. Her arrows were a loss, and that was fine, since if they required more arrows than she had, they had done something wrong. "Well, there goes my idea", she murmured as they made for the tunnel.
Kalam Sayros |
Kalam raises an eyebrow, "Highground? Looks like it. Ugh, why is it always the sewer? Can't they hide arcane secrets at a brothel? Far more entertaining."
Sighing he gestures for Abramov to go ahead, After you doc, I think you might scare off the rats..."
If it's single file I'd suggest Abramov, Kalam, 10ft gap, Halsanna then Ceinwynn bringing up the rear for a marching order. Sound good?
Abramov |
"Argh! Mom's scarf will be ruined if we enter the sewer .. this better be worth it .." the doc whined. He then continued on forward, taking the lead.
Works for me. I might not post again until tomorrow afternoon (European time, so late morning US west coast) because I got some RL responsibilities ;)
Ceinwynn Davenport |
Ceinwynn casts message on Kalam and Halsanna. Through message: "Should we send a scout ahead? We may have found a lair."
Kalam Sayros |
Knowledge(Dungoneering): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Kalam scuffs the ground, keeping his voice low, "Surprisingly clean, no? Maybe the rats have all ripped each other apart by now? Or our killers are just cat people?""
"Scout is an excellent idea. Doc you seem pretty comfortable in the lead, fancy ranging a little farther ahead?"
Put Abramov 30-50ft or so in the front? I'll leave the exact distance up to you doc.
Abramov |
"Sure, if I saw a damn I would. Also, I can't discern between a turd and the imprint of a boot, so there might be that as well. You best stay close behind me."
Alas, I do not have survival (for tracks) or low-light vision or darkvision to help me see a damn without having to resort to a torch or magical light. Splitting up without any reason to do so seems quite silly.
Kalam Sayros |
Well then I guess we can stick to the right walkway, Abramov, Kalam, 10ft gap, Halsanna then Ceinwynn bringing up the rear for a marching order.
Given our light troubles I'll hit my shield and whatever object Halsanna would prefer with Light so we can see.
Ceinwynn Davenport |
"Shirac" Ceinwynn casts dancing lights and sends the globes into the cave a little. "Lead on Doc."
How about Doc, Abramov, me, Halsanna? Put Doc ahead about 20 ft. I'll lead the group with the globes ahead enough that Doc can stay a bit behind in some shadows.
Kalam Sayros |
Ok though I don't see why Abramov needs the head start if we're leading with dancing lights, kind of kills the scout angle. Though if he's cool with it so am I.
I'll only use light on myself in that case.
Halsanna Firdraes |
Halsanna was doing a hand-count of her arrows, letting her fingers trail over the ends of the arrows in her quiver. This was a curious turn of things, but she really could not be surprised about anything that was going on. She was curious about the lack of rats in the sewer, but she was not going to dwell on it, wanting to complete their task and get out of here.. She just had a feeling that it was going to get worse before they were done, and did not like it.
At least Ceinwynn's lights were giving her enough illumination that she could see a little past Abramov, so he had some extra aid just in case something happened. Her mind was wandering with what they might encounter down here, because she was definitely expecting a trap, but not quite able to figure out how to thwart it, knowing little about traps.
Abramov |
With drawn daggers - you never know when you need to throw one - the doctor leads the way through filth and decay. With Ceinwynn's light illuminating the way, what could go wrong? A lot he thought to himself. Best be quiet now.. and like that, he stealthily moved forward.
Stealth check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
While the light may betray us, Abramov hopes to at least keep the sound to a minimum.
