I'm going to have to agree with Mel. Bringing in a "bard-lite" when we have a full bard in the party seems unnecessary and a little toe-stepping, especially when they both use the same performance skill. One bard is a fantastic addition to a party, but adding a second doesn't really bring in anything. I get that the character does more, and the performance abilities are only part of the archetype, but they're something we already have, and they swap out something we could use more.

And I thought I was the snowflake...
We are all snowflakes.

Hey guys, I'm super excited that I was invited to join your game, and I'd love to play with you all, but I totally get your concerns. With the GM's permission, could I rebuild Eallos to just be a standard cleric who focuses on summoning, since Mel is already covering performance?
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Thanks for being accomodating, Eallos. It'll be nice having a full team again.

Welcome on board!
Eallos Farn |
Thanks guys! Just out of curiosity, do I start with the average wealth for a cleric?
Edit: I just adjusted him for being a standard cleric, so he should be good to go assuming that average wealth is being followed.
DM Elan Morin |
Welcome onboard Eallos and thanks for joining us, go on and rebuild as you please, I didn't really choose based on party performance and I must admit I'm not that familiar with the evangelist archetype but thanks for your understanding. As for wealth use standard gp for starters and then add 50 gp (unless the other party members wish to share the current loot, in that case don't add the 50 bonus gp). The group has not got anything super powerful yet in terms of equipment, so this should not be a problem. Your character is going to get introduced by Laria Longroad right now.
DM Elan Morin |
Quick heads up, due to a combination of work and having to go on a trip (aòso job related) I won't probably be able to post again until tomorrow evening. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Veccio Mezinas |
Thanks for the heads-up, DM =)
DM Elan Morin |
Is everything ok? The situation isn't that bad here, Mel's diplomacy check suceeded and made the tengus indifferent (that's why they didn't shoot her down as she approached). Now they are asking for something... It might be a good idea considering doing it
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Yeah, I'm around. I was just waiting to see if anyone else had input/wanted to show up and then I got an offer to play in a game so I was updating a character to level 5. I can move this along probably during my lunch break today.
Veccio Mezinas |
I'm still around. Just been dealing with an online harassment issue (not on these boards, thank goodness) that's left me frazzled. I'll post in the morning.
Isabella Calligaris |
As happy as I am that you healed me this little bit, you also just healed the gator a little since you don't have selective healing :I Varro's up to max now too i think though so there's that.
DM Elan Morin |
Mr croc here is a pretty dangerous specimen but nothing an experienced group of adventurers like you cannot deal with, sometimes luck (or lack of thereof) might make a huge difference between life and death though (see attack-grab-damage on Izzy folowed by the double miss against Veccio) .
Edit: Followed by Veccio slaughtering the croc with a crit... :P
Veccio Mezinas |
Hey! Izzy! Reckon when you're up and about again, you can make a pair of albino croc-skin boots? :P
I can't believe I critted that beastie, though. Now watch me spend the next combat flailing incompetently...

Remember to stop to retrieve Nan's body before heading out. There's something else you can go there as well.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
I feel kind of badly for dominating the diplomacy part of the game, but it is what she's going to be built for. Also, are we officially leveling? I'll work on the character sheet if so.
EDIT: Half +1 or Rolled HP? here's the roll if it's rolls.
HP?: 1d8 ⇒ 4
DM Elan Morin |
Yes you have earned your 2nd level by now. As for hps, you get half your class hp plus one, so in your case it's 5 Mel.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
Okay, here goes the summary!
+7 HP (1d8+2 Con)
+1 to Reflex and Will
Second Rank in Acrobatics, Perception, and Perform (string).
First rank in Appraise, Knowledges (arcana, local, and planes), and UMD
Gain Versatile Performance (choosing string) and Well-Versed.
New Spells: Spark (0) and Hideous Laughter (1).

shoo, that croc's big enough that i can make all kinds of croc leather stuff (i think). what kind of skill check would it be to skin it though?
DM Elan Morin |

Profession(tanner) or Craft(leather) I'd say. DC10+ depending on what you want to do.
Veccio Mezinas |
Level-up summary:
- +8 hp (1d10 + 1 con + 1 FCB)
- +1 BAB, Fort save
- Foolhardy Rush (Order ability) - if Veccio rolls an 11 or higher on the die for initiative, he can move up to his speed as an immediate action and is not flat-footed; movement is subtracted from the following round.
- 5 skill points - acrobatics, bluff, handle animal, intimidate, knowledge (local)
Isabella Calligaris |
Also DM, have you ever considered doing background skills? I feel it can be a little OP with a bard cause Perform is considered a background skill, but it gives players a couple extra skill points to use in nonessential skills and therefore helps make the character in their head more real without sacrificing important skill points.
Izzy's Level Up
+5 Hp
+1 Bab
+1 Fort/Ref
Precise Companion (bonus feat Outflank. Varro gets the feat too).
Track (1/2 to survival checks to track)
7 Skill points - acrobatics, handle animal, knowledge (nature), perception, profession (tanner), stealth, survival
Varro's Level Up
+6 HP
+1 Bab
+1 Will
1 skill point - perception
1 feat: weapon focus (bite)
DM Elan Morin |
Although I own PF Unchained I never bothered to learn how they work. For a quick read they seem to add a little depth to the system, so why not, go on and add 4 background skills to your pool, and remeber to modify your character sheets and info accordingly.
Also Izzy I believe you gained 6 or 7 hp not 5 (4+1 for levelling, +1 for con and possibly +1 for favored class).
P.S.
Check out the rules for the rebellion from the player's guide please.
Edit: Mel, go on and translate perform as a BG skill. If it becomes a problem we'll see about correcting this but atm I'm confident you won't destroy the game by outperforming every other street bard in Kintargo...
Isabella Calligaris |
snap, i forgot about favored class. I'm so used to be a GM I forget stuff sometimes. So it should be 7 then. and sweet for the background skills. profession (tanner) is getting moved to background then. And just like Mel, I won't use Handle Animal as a background.
edit: Actually I'm doing craft (leather) instead of profession (tanner). The background skill page actually lists skinning and tanning under craft (leather).
DM Elan Morin |
As I said above, no problem for using Backgroud skills that are background skills as background skills... :P
Go on and use them as such, if you flood the market of Kintargo with superior quality leatherwork we might reconsider this, otherwise it will be fine...
Isabella Calligaris |
ok. Skills were reworked then to Background: 2 pts. Crafter (Leather and 2 pts. Handle Animal. Adventure: 1 pt. Climb, 2 pts. swim. Climb is from the 1 skill point i put in profession tanner, Swim comes from the 2 points i had in handle animal.

We still have to finish a few things:
-Decide what to do with the tengus
-Recover Nan's body
-Report to Laria and see if she's willing to let you borrow the place.
-Go back to the Livery and recover the documents (you'll need someone able to pick locks or to somehow open the strongbox)
-Appraise the loot you gained thus far or find some reliable source that does it for you.
Then you have to decide what to do with the rebellion. Once we close act 1 your focus should be on rebuilding the Silver Ravens.
First you need to decide what kind of focus you want your organization to have:
Then you have to decide among yourselves what kind of role you want for your PC. This is represented by the officer status.
Demagogue: The officer adds his or her Constitution or Charisma modifier to the rebellion’s Loyalty check.
Partisan: The officer adds his or her Strength or Wisdom modifier to the rebellion’s Security check.
Recruiter: The number of supporters recruited during the Upkeep phase on a successful Organization check is increased by the officer’s character level. This bonus stacks with that provided by other recruiters.
Sentinel: The officer grants a +1 bonus to the rebellion’s two secondary Organization checks, and can aid during all Organization checks attempted to resolve one event during the Event phase. The Sentinel can add her Constitution or Charisma modifier to a Loyalty check, her Strength or Wisdom Modifier to a Security check, or her Dexterity or Intelligence modifier to a Secrecy check made during this event’s resolution.
Spymaster: The officer adds his or her Dexterity or Intelligence modifier to the rebellion’s Secrecy check.
Strategist: The officer grants the Silver Ravens a bonus rebellion action during the Activity phase. Any Organization check made to resolve the effects of this bonus action gain a +2 bonus on the check.
Isabella Calligaris |
Well i have swim now so I can try to swim out and get Nan's body. As for the rebellion focus... can we change it later? Cause if we can change it later i say secrecy for now until we become more established and harder to squash. And for the officer position, Dibs on spymaster. I made Izzy to be spymaster.

Nope about changing the rebellion's focus. You build the organization in different ways if you go one way or another, you can't just decide to change what you do and how you do it after settling down, sorry.
Secrecy is a perfectly viable choice as are the others but you might want to decide based on your stats and roles as officers of the Silver Ravens.Dragonflyer1243 |
Eallos would probably be best suited as the Partisan, the sentinel, or one of the two positions that doesn't require high stats(recruiter and strategist). Based on his personality I feel like he'd prefer Sentinel, but it depends on what everyone else wants.
With regards to the focus, I'd say that loyalty is a scary one because we don't want to be in the open against such powerful forces. Eallos's vote goes to Secrecy, or if not that then Security.
Meliandri Chastain-Aulamaxa |
I think Security of Secrecy would be pretty good. I think Meliandri would be best as Demagogue, but anything would work well.
As for the Fushi's (the tengu), let's try recruiting them. They could, possibly, be helpful. I'd do it, but I'm currently at work. I'll aid another later, though.
DM Elan Morin |
So, thus far we have 2 votes for secrecy focus (Eallos and Meliandri) and 1 who's not sure yet but suggested starting with Secrecy too (Isabella).
As for Officer roles:
-Isabella wants to be a Spymaster.
-Meliandri works best as Demagogue.
-Eallos could be a Partisan, Sentinel, Recruiter or Strategist
Veccio Mezinas |
Updated Veccio's profile to include background skills.
For the rebellion focus, while I'm happy with whatever the group decides, Veccio is scrappy and eager, and would vote Security. As for officer roles, Veccio has a high Dexterity and Charisma, so as Sentinel, he'd be able to add to Loyalty or Secrecy checks. He could also work as the Strategist. With his ability scores, he'd be a terrible Partisan, and I can't see him as recruiter, on account of him being a scatterbrained twit.
DM Elan Morin |
Ok, so...
Izzy: Spymaster - Secrecy
Mel: Demagogue - Secrecy
Eallos: Partisan - Secrecy
Veccio: Sentinel - Security
We just need Abby's vote and then we can settle this then. Secrecy seems to be the preferred choice though.
Abigail Garrett |
About the rebellion, I think the three key positions, as they impact our organization's rolls, are demagogue (Con or Chr), partisan (Str or Wis), and Spymaster (Int or Dex).
Sentinel works for secondary organization checks, so it's when events take place.
If it's the case, the best candidates for the key roles would be (a + or - refers to whether the stat is highest or second highest for the character):
Demagogue (Con or Chr): Veccio-, Abigail+, Meliandri+, Eallos-
Partisan (Str or Wis): Abigail-, Isabella-, Eallos+
Spymaster (Int or Dex): Veccio+, Abigail-, Isabella+, Meliandri-
And then there are the other roles. Some of you have stated preferences:
-Isabella wants to be a Spymaster.
-Meliandri works best as Demagogue.
-Eallos could be a Partisan, Sentinel, Recruiter or Strategist
-Veccio mentioned Sentinel
In that case, I would suggest we go with:
-Isabella as Spymaster
-Meliandri as Demagogue
-Eallos as Partisan
-Veccio as Sentinel
-Abigail as Recruiter for now.
My preference of focus, given Abigail's background, would be Secrecy, and Loyalty in second position.
Looks like Secrecy is the most voted by far.
DM Elan Morin |
Ok, I updated the Rebellion Sheet with Secrecy as a focus and the aforementioned roles for you as officers.
There's a couple of weaknesses (mainly not having a strategist giving you more actions) but considering at the moment this rebellion is composed by just you and a bunch of tengus I'd say that should be expected.
Also, you need to consider very well how you want to manage the treasury: it's an important factor for the rebellion's welfare as well. No one likes risking his skin while unarmed and underequipped...
DM Elan Morin |
Having an NPC as an officer is allowed by the rules. Of course, you'll need to convince both Laria and Rexus before you can ask them to join you in the role of officers...
Abigail Garrett |
Can we go over the various loose ends left tangling at this point?
There is the locked box. Did we open it?
There is our relationship with Laria and Rexus that could be developed.
There is the livery we could use for other purposes. Did we finish exploring it? Did we figure what the "haunting" was?
There is Nan. Who he was? Why he died?
There is the Fushi Sisters.
Anything else at this point?
