Wow, you guys are really racking up the nat 1s here.
Rub it in!
"HOOOOOOooooOOOOOO!"
A weird, warbling cry comes out of the darkness. That strange smell grows almost overwhelmingly strong.
"Oh, holy Abadar. Now what?" whimpers Gwerm.
If Osei is unfeared:
Osei is making his way towards Laurine and his comrades, when the cry sounds throughout the cavern. He instinctively ducks and stops his traversal of the rock-strewn floor, adrenaline still pumping through his veins from the demon-spawned fear. The wizard curses himself for not shaking the dweomer and looks to the source of the cry.

Something is lumbering out of the darkness.
A stocky, barrel-like body the size of a bull, lumbering on short, sturdy legs. A mouth... actually, it seems to be almost all mouth. A huge mouth, with lots and lots of teeth. Tentacles writhe around it.
"HOOOOoooooHHHHHOOOOOO! MOOOMMMMAAAA!!!"
Range is 60' to the paladin, the kobold, and Felice. Nobody else can see it yet.

The thing stumps forward and begins pawing at the wreckage with two thick, boneless limbs. It's digging something out: a body. (One of the young women who was rushing back and forth bringing beers to the festival. If the fall didn't kill her, several tons or rubble falling on her did.)
The thing tries to pull the body from under the rubble, but there's a chunk that's too big to move. It makes a grunt of irritation, then wraps a tentacle around one limp arm and pulls it up as far as it will go. Two bites: elbow, shoulder.
"MMMMMM OOOOHHH! HOOOooooHHOOOOO! MOOOOMMMMMMAAAAA!"

"MMMMMM OOOOHHH! HOOOooooHHOOOOO! MOOOOMMMMMMAAAAA!"
Is it just me or am I reading "Oh-ho, momma!"? Dude's really excited to find some food.
Laurine turns and scuttles away across the ceiling like a great insect. In a moment the faint green flow fades and is gone.
Well, *that* won't come back to bite us in the ass ...
Balek's nostrils twitch slightly
Osei stands from his crouch, watching the sorceress skitter across the cavern ceiling. He stares in that direction for some time, as if viewing the departure of a dear friend. Feh. She doesn't deserve the stone, nor will she control it - it will consume her. He shakes his head and hobbles back to the scattered group, now cautiously taking a wide path around the otyugh.
Notcing Balek on the ground, he pulls the prone cleric to the wall, props him up and calls to Haruka. "Haruka - do you perhaps have a bit of healing to help out our Sarkorian friend, here? We can deal with Laurine and her friends as they return. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of them. Plus, we have another situation."
After propping up Balek and directing Haruka, Osei approaches Felice and offers his arm/shoulder to aid Felice in departing the proximity of the otyugh - keeping one eye on the creature, hoping the grisly meal keeps its attention. "Lady Felice, I am happy to see you freed. My apologies for the display of such weak willpower; resisting a corrupted piece of the Worldstone was too much for me in my current state." Whether or not the wizard is referring to the Fear spell or his fixation on getting the stone from Laurine isn't clear ...

Haruka looks up as Laurine vanishes into the darkness
'I failed another friend, Lord Daikitsu, again I was unable to save her. Am I just to weak ... But there is still a chance to save her.'
brought back from her thoughts by Oseis voice, the Miko looks first at Balek then at the aberration "My healing magic is spend, but with some help I should be able to get him back to consciousness atleast. And what is that creature? Will it be satisfied by eating the dead or will we have to fight it?" I would prefer to give them a correct burial, but we have neither the resources nor the time to do so. Telling some clerics of Pharasma or another god of the dead must be enough for now.'
Sir Constantine Godalming |
Sir Constantine does the only thing he can in this situation he straps his shield across his back and tries to heft the cleric onto his shoulder so he is not mistaken for carrion...
"If anyone has healing magic we need this guy up and around, he is heavy."
He also puts away his sword and changes to his morningstar such that he can use it for balance and not risk a sharp edge.
