I'm planning to roll this out Sunday morning or Monday. No big deal if your full background isn't up- a general idea of where you're from and what your character's angle is would be great.
Being a Pittsburgher I'll be in a sports (and beverage :-P) induced fog pretty much all of Sunday. I took Monday off of work so I should be ready to roll then.

Well, my favorite teams are the Lions (I know, I know) and whoever happens to be playing the Packers. So go Steelers!!

Game thread is up and ready for you guys. If your intro/background isn't right for you, please let me know and we can reconfigure it. Those of you that memorize spells, I'll need spell lists before entering the dungeon proper.
Uwais was born in a Katapesh slave market that catered to clients who wanted highly trained performance slaves. While Uwais did not show the aptitude that other halflings showed at acrobatics and tumbling, he did display an unusual kinship with animals, so he was raised as a trainer and rider of exotic beasts. While these were all trained animals, Uwais found that his talents extended to the handling and care of wild animals as well.
His talents brought him to the attention of a Chelaxian slave-owner who wanted a slave to care for his dangerous menagerie of beasts. Uwais was shipped away to an Egorian manor house, where he lived the next few years of his life. The state of the place repulsed him - the animals were half-mad with terror and hunger, and often made to fight other slaves and each other for the amusement of Uwais' owner. Uwais suspected he knew what happened to the last animal handler, and dreaded the day that he too would be thrown to the mercy of his dangerous charges.
One day, however, a new wolf was brought in to replace the previous one, which had finally succumbed to it's wounds and malnutrition. The new wolf was unafraid of her captors, snapping and snarling at her captors, bearing herself regally despite the degrading conditions. When Uwais entered the cage, as impressed with her as she was unafraid of him, he was able to quietly calm her. Convinced that some magic had been committed by the enslaved halfling, he was brought to the master and beaten severely, then thrown back to his sleeping pen. That night, Uwais picked his chains and brought the keys to the wolf's cage, unwilling to allow such a creature or himself live as slaves any more. The two were gone by morning.
The journey took months, travelling by night, keeping away from civilized lands. The two came to respect and understand each other - the wolf, called Waya by Uwais, no longer followed him into town when he needed supplies, and he never tried to take food she had caught. Over time, they wound their way to the northern reaches of Varisia, and to Kaer Maga. Inside the city, Uwais found solidarity with the Freemen and their cause, his hatred of slavery still burning inside him from his days in chains. Today he works doing odd jobs, donating his tithe to the cause of freeing slaves, and doing what he can to help his new brothers-in-arms.

Looking good, no worries about the spell list. So long as it's together before making your entrance to the dungeon it can wait. Just holding out for everyone to introduce themselves (or not) before the Cryptsmistress lays out the terms.

Hey James, did the Dusk wardens give me any supplies for my mapping assignment?
Yes, they did. You have a map-maker's kit (from the APG's Advanced Gear)- a piece of slate carved with a small grid with several different colored chalks. It's housed in a leather folio to prevent the chalk from breaking or smearing on the slate. They also provide a compass if you didn't already have one.
Okay, cool. I've updated my inventory. On a separate note, my home computer may have bitten the dust this morning. I'm still fine to update from work though and in a pinch, from my Blackberry.

Good news! I've finally learned/remembered enough basic stuff about Adobe Illustrator to put together accurate combat maps! Max, you don't have to do my work for me anymore!

Not yet. It looks like fun, but I want to play a few more games with Arkham Horror and the expansions I bought before I drop another $70 on a board game.
It's really fun, very atmospheric and almost feels RPGish. It takes a looong time to set up though. I'd say at least double what Arkham Horror takes. Once it gets going it's not quite as complicated, although it does require a keeper.
Funny story about my RL week night game. In the past two sessions, I've gotten into fights with the characters that serve as Yang and Sister Mara's avatars. I ended up catching both with flesh to stone super early in the fight. That now sets the total number of times flesh to stone has worked for me to two. :-P
On a similar vein, yesterday I made a mention of picking up Arkham Horror, and someone immediately goes "Oh, have you played Mansions Of Madness?" I then related the story of the exact same conversation happening here.
As such internet-to-real-world translations often do, this story failed to amuse anyone else as much as it amused me.

Some things are just funnier in text than spoken word (and vice versa).

Hmmm ... they’re from CotCT aren’t they?
Yep!
CotCT Spoilers:
They're both in Castle Korvosa during book six. Yang's avatar is a Bloat Mage that is serving as the new senechal. He's got this fat little imp as a familiar, which was hilarious. Sister Mara's avatar is the leader of a group of Red Mantis assassins employed by the queen.
Doesn't look like I'll be getting a turn anytime soon, but my two day long bachelor party is this weekend. I won't be anywhere near a computer but I'll try to check in with my phone during my rare moments of sobriety.
OH CR@P!! I should've had Mara move to heal Badang instead of moving off to heal Detressa! I didn't pay attention to the fact that the monster would be acting before the others acted. I'm sorry Badang/randall793!
Max goes off and beats himself up for letting a party member fall.
Could I roll up as an Half Elven alchemist then? I might say I got in the catacombs due to an experiment gone awry and is currently cocooned in a state of stasis, preserved as emergency rations for some other creature.

Randall:
Spoiler:
Sounds great. Below the Ossuary is the Prison Level, an ancient Thassilonian magical prison. You could have been trapped there by accident and only recently gained your release. He could have even been down there for decades without realizing.
Cool. Though I hope the character is amnesic and a bit woozy from the imprisonment. He'll remember Kaer Maga in a different way instead in forms of flashbacks. Well, I'm going to gestate on him a bit until the gang gets up to him.

Congratulations to Jam412, who's getting hitched today!
I just got Mansions of Madness for my birthday after hearing so many recommendations and gave it a whirl last night- even though setup is kind of complicated I like that it seems to move much faster than Arkham Horror and seems a little less daunting. Definitely recommended.
My posting may be nonexistent for the next day or two as we had to admit my son to the hospital (fever, vomiting, dehydration ... all the nasty stuff). Not sure when exactly I'll have time.
