So, Azure, Ada, and Marisa, you would all three have known that Saersha was working at seducing Sheila, she made no secret of that fact. Whether you believed she'd manage it or not is up to you. Fact of the matter is that she did succeed, the Nines had me roll to see if I could way back when I first was going to bring this character in after Marinah's first disappearance. I figured I might as well have started at that point.
Marisa Vanderale |
Very cool... you guys would know that when tempers flare up or combat breaks out (or traps trigger for that matter) that Marisa suddenly switches to Celestial and can't understand a word of common until she calms down/combat ends.
Speaking of, taking Comprehend Languages as a spell. Not sure if it would counteract the "understanding" part of the curse or not... won't affect my ability to speak either way.
Rolling for hp, dice gods be kind...
HP: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
OK, that isn't bad at all. So 10 from level one, 9 from level two (counting CON bonuses) nets 19 total. At least I am not super squishy.
Getting my background skills and equipment sorted out and I should be ready to post properly soon.
Azura Celestine |
Turns out that Azura is fluent in Celestial, which may be of some help!
Saersha |
Also of note, given that she's a lust mage and very much interested in such things, Marisa and, especially Azura, are like candy for Saersha.
Ada Melgath |
I took Abyssal as a bonus language. We can curse in lots of languages. I use Russian for Orc and Latin for Thassilonian. Does anyone have an analog for Abyssal and Celestial they use?

I speak the following Common, Draconic, Elven, Auran, Terran, Ancient Thassilonian, Ancient Azlanti. Unlike the "traditional" view of wizards casting in draconic I use Ancient Thassilonian.
Zev Kelevra |
Don't you also get Orc? Or Shoa-wait, is he from a Kelid tribe or Shoanti Quah?
Ulfr Uggason |
Yes. He hopped around a lot growing up, but he doesn't talk about it alot and the backstory's point of view didn't really allow me to talk about his upbringing. Or lack thereof.
But you're right, I forgot to write that on his sheet for some reason. You now have exactly two chances to talk like a normal person before he decides you're just pretending to be a person and attempts to beat the personhood back into you. :P
Ryn Mero |
I've used Japanese for Infernal (the reason being that the slightest mispronunciation can end badly. Very Lawful)
Ryn knows common and dwarven oddly enough
Zev Kelevra |
Interesting. But then Tian is also a language in game too...
Going off the original sources I've always used Italian.
Zev Kelevra |
Spoken with any frequency only in the shadowy country of Nidal, where it is used for ceremonial purposes and to keep outsiders from eavesdropping. Shadowtongue is a mix of Taldane, Infernal, and Azlanti. It is a sibilant language of quiet hisses and whispered words. Many words are pronounced with a delicate intake of breath. Non-speakers who hear it often remark that it sounds like it is being spoken backwards. The strix of the Devil's Perch mountains in nearby Cheliax refer to it as Whisprin and believe that it is not only inherently evil, but that it is the cause of Nidal's cultural malignancy.
Don't know what to use for that, maybe Esperanto or Welsh.

Okies, I still like Zalgo though. If for no other reason than that Nidal is blatantly Blair Witch country (look at the symbol for the Uskwood Druids).

Thanks :) The alias pics just don't quite ever get what I think my characters look like. All the half-orc board choices looked crazy or mean. Which isn't Ada at all.

So Marisa is finished. She would have shot down all attempts from anyone for romantic advances, sometimes in common, sometimes in celestial if sufficiently flustered/frustrated.
When not in flight/fight mode, she can speak Common, Varisian, celestial, and Elvish.
As a bonus, I have given her a set of harrow cards and the medium profession. She isn't trained in it, but she has some aptitude (basically, she taps into the nature of knowledge itself to glean some insight to questions asked... the cards are more for calming than as a focus.)

It does bleed into following lines... you would have to separate it to make sure the rest was legible.
Test sentence: "May the divines smite your sultry form from existence, you cur!"
Irish: "Go raibh an dhiadhairibh smite d'fhoirm sultry ó ann, rth agat!"
Hebrew: "במאי האלוהויות להכות את הצורה מחניק שלך מן הקיום, אתה cur!"
I prefer Irish, as it gives a better idea of how it is being phonetically heard, even if you don't understand it. Also, there are fewer words that don't have translations than Hebrew (see the cur at the end).
Zev Kelevra |
*nods*
Granted I'm pretty sure I am mispronouncing those words in Irish XD
Marisa Vanderale |
So you guys have a better picture, Marisa is dressed in her noble's outfit for this occasion, not her explorer's outfit/breastplate. The cards she has are made of steel with silver and gold decorations on the back (when she reveals one, it shows the card design to be hand painted in quality metallic paints) so they make a clanking sound as she shuffles and plays with them. She always wears her signet ring, bearing the house crest of Vanderale on it to those who would recognize such things. I would say that a difficulty 10 nobility check would give basic information on House Vanderale to those native to the city, maybe DC 15 to non natives.
Azura would probably be the only one in the party that knows the full story about her banishment from her house, having had conversations about it in celestial in one or two of her more emotional outbursts. She would have been asked not to make it more public knowledge, given it still is a sensitive topic to Marisa.
On that topic, it is likely that Azura was assigned to the same group as Marisa by the Society so that someone can talk her down from her emotional outbursts (as she can only understand celestial during them) or be able to better coordinate in combat situations.
Zev Kelevra |
*nods*
as to more appearances, Zev has a a rather gnarly greatsword strapped to his back.
... he's just kinda following the others at the suggestion of someone who may or may not be his uncle.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie pop?
