High Level PF2E - 12th level game - Conversion of Shadows of Gallowspire

Recruitment

The call for heroes has gone out! It’s the final chapter of the Carrion Crown AP as you try to prevent the lich-king Tar-Baphon, aka The Whispering Tyrant, from returning to Golarion!

Hey all! I have IRL experience with PF2E, but levels 1-8. PF1E high level was all a number crunch with insane numbers. So, decided to start this game, the final chapter of the Carrion Crown AP, to see how high level compares in the new edition. I hope there's some interest in this.

Character Creation Rules:
Standard Level 12
Free archetype rule
Common ancestries + Kobold + Ratfolk
Starting gold = 4500 gp (no item level greater than 11).
Uncommon feats/backgrounds are allowed - rare must be approved by me
You can look at the Carrion Crown Players' Guide for some information on the Ustalav region.

Looking for people who can post at least 1x day to keep the game moving.

Please use Pathbuilder to create your characters to keep your abilities, feats, and spell easily organized.

I am looking for 4-5 players. Any questions, please let me know.

I wouldn't mind trying this. I don't have any experience with high level play either. I'll take a look at the players guide.

It wasn't clear to me.

Is this PF2e? If so, please count me in.

Hello, I'd be interested in this game.

I can post daily and I have plenty of high level pf2e experience. I have played Spore Wars, Stolen Fate and Curtain Call from 11+ and have also played most of the level 11+ PFS scenarios.

I'd like to know if you'd allow me to play the Necromancer or Runesmith classes, which are coming out end of the month. Otherwise I will bring a Sisters of the Golden Erinyes Monk or a Liturgist Animist or a Earth/Fire Kineticist

Dark Archive

I'm interested!

Like many others I don't have that much experience play in high level PF2 but I'm interested to try to play as I'm usually GMing for my friends :)

I can post daily (except sometimes on weekends, as I have some family time obligations :P)

I'm interested - thinking a dexterous rogue.

Dotting… considering thaumaturge of applicable.

Interested. I have experience with PF2E, but not at high levels. Current idea is a cosmos oracle.

I'm interested in playing an investigator. I've finished several AP's, so I know high level play.

Any chance you'd be willing to accept a Necromancer?

Liberty's Edge

I haven't had a chance at high level 2e. I'm interested!

I have run and played a lot of high level 2e and would be interested.

Here is an initial draft of my proposed character. He still has money to spend.

Here is my investigator, Carizel. I'll put him into Pathbuilder if I get accepted. (I used HeroLab Online to make him)

He's a medic, Palantine detective, and Undead Slayer. As an investigator, he's pretty good across a wide variety of situations. He's even got a little healing magic to help out.

Carizel:

Clue In [R] (concentrate, investigator) Frequency once per 10 minutes; Trigger Another creature attempts a check that could help get you closer to answering the question at the heart of one of your active investigations.; Effect You share information with the triggering creature. They gain a circumstance bonus to their check equal to your investigation bonus from Pursue a Lead. The GM can add any relevant traits to this reaction depending on the situation, such as auditory and linguistic if you’re conveying information verbally.
Slayer’s Identification [F] Trigger You roll initiative and can observe a creature you know is undead; Effect You attempt to Recall Knowledge to identify the undead creature with a +1 circumstance bonus. If you’re a master in the skill you’re using to Recall Knowledge, you gain a +2 circumstance bonus instead.
--------------------
Speed 35 feet
Melee [1] +1 striking bladed gauntlet +21 (magical, free-hand, modular B/P/S, agile, finesse), Damage 2d4+2 B

Devise A Stratagem [1] (concentrate, investigator) Frequency once per round; Effect You assess a foe’s weaknesses in combat and use them to formulate a plan of attack. Choose a creature you can see. You can Devise a Stratagem as a free action if you’re aware that creature could help answer the question at the heart of one of your active investigations. Roll a d20, then decide on an attack stratagem or skill stratagem.
Attack Stratagem If you Strike the chosen creature before the start of your next turn, your Strike gains the fortune trait and you must use the result of the d20 roll for your Strike’s attack roll instead of rolling. You make this substitution only for the first Strike you make against the creature this round, not any subsequent ones. When you make this substitution, you can add your Intelligence modifier to your attack roll instead of your Strength or Dexterity modifier. If you Strike with a melee weapon, melee unarmed attack, or thrown weapon, it must have the agile or finesse trait to benefit from the substitution.
Skill Stratagem You can’t attempt to Strike the target until the start of your next turn. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus to your next Intelligence-, Wisdom-, or Charisma-based skill check or Perception check involving the target before the start of your next turn. If you would gain your Pursue a Lead investigation bonus to such a check, that bonus increases by 1 instead of you gaining the +1 bonus listed.

Envoy's Alliance

Jolinaxus changed gears midcourse.

From the Hold of Belkzen, first he rallied under the Whispering Tyrant's flag, blind with bloodlust and questing for the prideful expansion of his homelands, believing the promises made to him and his people, and tapping his inherent bias against the other humanoid species. Over time, he began to see the abhorrent cost not just of war, but war under false pretenses, as well as war in which the dead are not buried, but raised to fight in undeath, denying them of the glory of their sacrifice.

While he still holds his prejudices - especially against dwarves - he also knows that he was tricked into being mere canon fodder, and now bites back against the hand that stoked the fervor of the orc tribes that make their homes near Ustalav. Sworn to an arc of redemption, he vows to use his martial prowess not to kill wantonly, and to prioritize non-lethal means of violence whenever possible. (For obvious reasons, these observances are not reserved for the undead legions of Tar Baphon, only the living who currently still serve him).

Currently a PFS Level 6 Bloodrager who wields a Merciful Bo Staff but also uses his Tusks to power his more gruesome abilities. I do not use Pathbuilder and realize that may be a dealbreaker for GM, but am currently deciding how to use Free Archetype in this alias's profile. =)

Here are my several mostly complete level 12 builds on Pathbuilder. I'll flesh out the backstory if I get chosen.

Dwarf Hellknight Fighter, Sword and Board Grapple Tank with Intelligence to Craft and Recall Knowledge with:

Human Earth/Fire Kineticist, Frontline striker with AOE capabilities and Charisma to be party Face:

Dragonblooded Dwarf Monk w/ Sisters of the Golden Erinyes archetype, Frontline Striker with high thievery, stealth and acrobatics/athletics:
https://pathbuilder2e.com/launch.html?build=1517094

Aiuvarin (Half-Elf) Liturgist Animist with Sixth Pillar Dedication, highly mobile Gish frontline spellcaster that is incredibly difficult to hit with Medicine to be the team Healer :
https://pathbuilder2e.com/launch.html?build=1517093

I've also gotten access to Impossible Magic so I can build a valid Necromancer, Summoner or Runesmith from scratch to 12th level if chosen.

Everyone, thanks all for the interest.

1. Thaumascourge: I am not familiar with the official versions of Necromancer or Runesmith, so will have to say no.
2. Ilmakis: Posting daily M-F is fine - weekends get hectic for me as well.
3. Master Han Del of the Web: See answer #1.

All good, I'm toying around with concepts based around Spellshot or Werewolf

Here's my 12th level rogue/aldori sword duelist with image and background.

Well looking at the participants, we've got lots of Str Martials and Int classes, so might as well be different and run the Kineticist. She's easily the least powerful out of all the available options I posted earlier, but the most distinct since she's both a party face, Str user, frontliner and AOE blaster.

Mei Hong is a socialite that uses her charming personality, strength and elemental powers to win her friends in the social clubs of Absalom. She has had a long-standing rivalry with a Necromancer, who has tormented and schemed against her. When news reached her ears that undead were gathering in Ustalav, Mei Hong immediately jumped to conclusions, assumed her rival was behind it all and packed her bags to confront her.

Profile contains stats, pathbuilder link and portrait.

Again, thanks for the interest. One thing I have noticed in reviewing some of the builds is that some of you have +2 striking rune weapons. Remember, as Level 12 characters, your highest level item is Level 11, so +2 striking runes (Level 12 items) are not legal.

I will leave recruitment open until Sunday, 6:00 PM EST.

Verdant Wheel

+2 greater striking runes are level 12
+2 striking runes are level 10

=)

Just throwing in my interest, thinking a Psychic would be a good addition considering the vibes and the list of applications!

Here is a healing Oracle, it is definitely not martial, but can heal in many different ways (including Stitch Flesh).

This is BerryBunch, with Miriam Darling Webb, Human Changeling Psychic Dandy. Background and Personality will still need doing, but I figured I'd throw the concept and statblock in before it was too late. Also can provide the Pathbuilder Link if need be.

Well said! Thanks!

Well, it's a good thing I don't use Striking runes then as I am a Kineticist ;). What I have done is update my profile to make my profile easier to read and with all Feats listed out by level, so please check it out if you have time.

I see I'm not the only one interested to try out the new Dandy Feats.

They are really, really cool. I completely missed that you were also doing the Dandy archetype though.

I might need to swap to a different one. >_>

Thank you again to all who applied. I decided to go with 4 players.

Okay, it's selection time and I chose the characters that most appealed to me in the setting.

Dr. Thaddeus Volt, Cleric
Selina Aldaeth, Rogue
Ilmakis' Dhampir Inventor
Carizel, Investigator

If I need a 5th or we lose a player, I will be back.

Have fun...

(Roughly 1/4 of the fun is just imagining the high-level characters. Thanks for the fun!)
