Remastered Class Choices?

Pathfinder Society

Me and my friends are looking to play in PFS games at our local shop, but we're not sure how it works now with this mess introducing "Remastered" content.

So, because the Kineticist or Inventor class isn't in Remastered, does that mean we can't choose to play one in PFS or can we?

Classes from books that didn't get remastered (like the Guns and Gears Inventor) or from Rage of Elements (considered the first "remastered" book) are still PFS legal.

**

So, as far as remaster legality of classes goes

1) Characters created with a class that has been remastered are legal (I mention this to establish a baseline).
2) New Characters of a class that has not been remastered as of the day you create the character are legal* (So Kineticists and Inventors are legal, as are Core Rulebook Champions and Advanced Player's Guide Swashbucklers until the end of the month)
3) New Characters may not use the old version of a clasw once a new version has been releases (e.g. No new School of Illusion wizards may be created), but existing characters still use the old version of the class* unless they use a rebuild. Rebuilding a character generally costs Achievement Points, but level 1 characters can be rebuilt for free as many times as you like until they reach level 2.

*Compatibility errata may need to be accounted for, however. Legacy Champion in particular has a fair bit.
**However, you must use the newest version of a feat if it has been remastered, although I think the only cases where this was problematic have had errata to correct things.

So, as far as you and your friend are concerned

-If you want to create a Bard, Cleric, or any other Player Core 1 class, you should use the Player Core 1 version.
-If you want to create an Alchemist, Barbarian, or any other Player Core 2 class in the next month, you may do so using the rules from the Legacy Core Rulebook or Advanced Player's Guide. However, be aware that updating your character to the remaster version of the class may take resources if you manage to get your character to 2ne level before Player Core 2 releases.
-If you want to play a Gunslinger, Inventor, or any other class from a non-Core rulebook, you may do so using the rules from that book, subject to some compatibility errata. If these classes are ever remastered, a free rebuild opportunity will likely be provided for characters who were created before a certain time, much as was provided for existing PFS characters when the remaster policies for PFS were first announced.

I hope that clears things up.
