Integrating PC Skill Checks Into Kingdom Skill Checks?

Kingmaker Second Edition

Hey, question everyone, and apologies in advance if this has been covered elsewhere. Been looking through the book as I'll be running Kingmaker sometime later in the year once my group finishes their current campaign, and I'm already having worries about player expression when it comes to the kingdom itself. While I understand random kingdom events and their subsequent problems are supposed to be solved by the various workings of the kingdom itself, I feel that my players should be able to interact personally in events if they so choose.

The most promising thing I've seen so far is the Grigori event, where during the trial portion (if it comes to be), a PC can roll Diplomacy, Deception, etc. to help reduce the DC of the following kingdom skill check. However, reading through more, it seems this is a rare occurrence offered by the book as written. I feel I could easily apply something similar to scenarios that don't specifically prompt a player skill check. Being new to pf2e, however, all I've heard is that the math is usually pretty tight, so I don't want to go causing a ruckus with the rolls.

In short, was just curious if anyone has conjured up some edits to the kingdom building/event ruleset that can allow for more interference from the players themselves instead of just working through the kingdom sheet.

There's plenty of events that say the event can also be dealt with by the PCs in game. Beyond that there's not much else.

Legendary Games's Ultimate Rulership allows PC Skills to give a bonus to Kingdom Skill checks. The homebrew rules we're currently working on use this idea but change some of the specifics.
