Being developed by Joe Manganiello. Seems likely that it will have the budget to be well done, based on what I've seen of the movie and the current competitive landscape. Can't wait to see who they case in this, though I expect most will be relative newcomers.
I could see Joe himself either go for a starring role as Tanis Half-elven, or more of a supporting character like Dragon Highlord Verminaard. Or just develop the show and not be in it I guess, but considering how big a D&D fan he is, I'd think he'd want to be on camera.

He’s a good enough actor, and a big D&D fan from what I’ve seen. My hope is that love for the hobby extends to a love for Dragonlance. If so, and he can exert enough pressure to be as true to the source material as possible, then this could be pretty decent.
Color me cautiously pessimistic (since it’s still modern Hollywood we’re dealing with).

Manganiello revealed that it led to his working with Wizards of the Coast on a live-action television adaptation of the Dragonlance novels, which he loves
He says he loves Dragonlance, so think that box is checked. I'm curious if Weiss and Hickman are involved at all, either as writers or consultants, and if they plan to include the newer novels which cover the parts of the DL adventures which weren't in the original trilogy.

But he has a beard! Dragonlance doesn't really have a lot of characters who are middle aged. The Heroes of the Lance are all younger with the exception of Flint who's more old (certainly in personality). There's Fizban who's old, and while some of the elves are old, they're elves and don't look it.
I guess some of the Knights of Solamnia later in the series are older, as is Theros, but when thinking of parts Joe might want, I don't think he's looking for bit parts (could be completely wrong). The villains tend to be more middle aged and seasoned though, so that's maybe the best fit for him. That's why I initially was thinking Verminaard.
