Simple question. I'm preparing this to run later in the week. Is there any reason the Recall Knowledge check at the beginning is secret? There is no failure or critical failure result and all the results don't indicate knowing some obscure knowledge, but instead describe success at the action of navigating the boat.

Any reason not to make that a public player rolled check?

You're the GM. Run it the way that will maximize the fun for your players. Our locals like rolling their own dice, so that's what we do here. We did the secret roll thing with the first couple PF2 scenarios we ran, and no one liked it.
