Which I am prone to do (Open Mouth Insert Foot GOGO)
I am gonna wait for everyone to chime in first though before I do anything though. Just to be fair.
@Daemon - Does Daemon dislike Voem? He asked for help with his knee a page ago and got no response. He is currently at half HP. Did I miss something?
I wouldn't mind having you back but it is the DMs call so we will have to wait
@Voem I must have missed that post, I apologize, also I completely forgot that you had gotten injured. Remind me in game and I will role play finishing helping Rogers character and heal you.

@Connor when doing a check using a stat (Charisma) as the base you only add the modifier (+1 in your case) not the entire stat so your roll would only be 20 as opposed to 31
also, generally speaking you only roll Diplomacy and the like vs. NPC characters because player characters dont enjoy "having" to do something just because your "lets be friendly" roll was really high. I don't mind personally, thats just how DM's usually call it.
Oops. I'm new, so good to know. Sorry to impose.

@Arvind, I like how you keep saying that we signed an evil contract but never once did you mention to any of us that you used detect evil or what the result was, therefore we would not know that we were signing an evil contract in the first place, we just saw it as a way out

I kinda thought going on the ...I cast detect evil .. and that it is evil ...was more the kind of meta game thing...so thought, maybe naively, that when a paladin says something is evil, of the devil etc.. then he means it, and its backed up with some evidence rather than just a way of speech. You'll be pleased to know the contract is evil, according to my detect evil ability.

I'm a rogue. Shadow society appeals to me better than regular society. ;-)
Also I just offered an interesting compromise, which I highly suspect won't be accepted. Though I did roll a nat 20 with a +5 bonus to diplomacy. Couldn't have timed that better if I tried. ;-)
It really depends on which way this campaign is going. If the king accepts we're heroes. If he declines we're forced to rely upon the shadow society for our survival. I'm fine with either.

I doubt the diplomacy will do anything but lets see, with a roll THAT good it should hopefully do SOMETHING.
Also, I think those of us who signed the contract are stuck for it regardless of the outcome.
Agreed, but whatever gets us out of prison i'm down for.

I didn't mean you literally had to say "hey, i detect evil" but saying "I will not sign that evil document" could be taken as "oh, its a person from a band of assassins and I wont sign it because its 'evil'"
I am not saying how you should have done it, i have actually enjoyed how the game has run so far, but had I been in your shoes I would have told everyone something to the effect of "Hey guys, my god/goddess has given me the ability to see evil auras and that contract is definitely radiating one!" though probably a little less flippant lol

On another note:
Kale, Your avatar screams Paladin to me. Every time I see it I keep thinking you're the pally. lol
xD It's the only thing I could find with a blond guy that wasn't an elf.
Finally back home! I'll get to posting/catching up now. Glad to say that there were no damages to my home/car, or to my friends.

Its because the picture is that of a lion knight or something. I don't remember the exact name or source, but I've seen the picture somewhere.

Glad to hear that everyone is safe and sound. Please excuse my slow posting, I have had a lot of work the past couple of days. I hope I haven’t scared you all by putting you in such a difficult and intense environment so early, but trust in me! I will try to let your actions govern what happens to you directly as much as possible, but in some cases, the plot demands what the plot demands... Hope everyone is having fun!

I am fine with you guys being creative and having lots of cool stuff, but please try to keep it reasonable and fitting to your character. If you do decide to get thing like flasks of acid and cold iron flails and barbed vests, please explain how you came to have them in your background. These sound more like the kinds of things you might find exploring dungeons rather than in the circus or the church or on a small farm...
These kinds of things are a little strange, but if you give a good story or explanation for them, I will consider allowing them. I would also like to stick to the core rulebook. Any special items I see fit to introduce will come in due time! Just try to stick to your character and his background. Have no fear, you will be adventuring soon, and I have a hunch that you will all find some nice things laying around...
@Schmitty: You start speaking common and Halfling. You have a +2 Int. modifier, so you get to pick two other languages you can speak.

Other then buying em in a store during his travels I cant think of a reason I would have any of the stuff, so I will just take it off, no biggie.

@Roger: Thank you, that just makes more sense to me. The brass knuckles seem like something pretty easy to get/make, so if you like you may work those into your story. The question is what kind of fighting you will be specializing in: Will you fight with a quarterstaff or with a club or mostly hand-to-hand, etc.?

Hand to Hand. I am not a fan of weapon based monks personally.
