Jupiter's Legacy

Has anyone watched this? I watched it, of course, because I'm a sucker for super heroes. Once again I was struck with a sort of apathy to it all, like I am with the Invincible cartoon, or with Superman type stories in general.

The code is outdated. The world is changing, getting worse. With ultimate power the Union could rule the world, but they don't b/c The Code. And so on.

I don't feel like I got a reason to care at all.

There are no stakes until some supporting characters I barely know of suffer a tragedy. Then the main characters have a reaction to that tragedy, but ultimately they are unchanged, unaffected by loss or tragedy themselves.

I was SUPER into the 1929 parts of the show. I wished they hadn't made the joke about Lovecraft and dismissed the idea of eldritch horror waiting for them in the Atlantic. I know this is based on a comic and the source they find ultimately in their adventure isn't an eldritch horror, but I kind of hoped it WOULD be.

The main characters of this show are like Greek gods. They live in some form of reality, far removed from humanity, and while they exhibit one tragic flaw or another they are very much portrayed as "more than" or "better than" human beings.

I don't want to watch gods bicker among themselves over mortal concerns. I yearn for humans that rise up, maybe with a superanatural gift or two, and tell the gods "Y'know, the last time I was in Germany, and I saw a man standing above everyone else, we ended up disagreeing" before trying to beat up said gods.

I'm interested enough in Cloe's arc to see what season 2 has in store. The other characters, so far, feel like paper dolls to me. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Jupiter's Legacy, unlike Invinicible, is kind of more "What does Golden Age heroes have to offer this world?" Admittedly it's not the best idea, but it's far from the worst. Mostly I'm here to see if we'll ever get a Utopian versus Homelander versus Omni-Man versus Hyperion.

Chloe will be more interesting later on.
