The Mechanic Trick 'Inventive Engineer' has the option to "during Starship Combat" "double the regeneration speed of your ship’s shields"...
So what does this actually do, considering Starship Shield Rules state "regeneration occurs only when the ship is not in combat"?
I also asked this question in the Starfinder_rpg's Discord and it was suggested it has nothing to do with regeneration (even though Shields specifically have a Stat called that) but is instead intended to double the Shield restored by Shield-Restoring Effects (which as far as I know is an Engineer's Divert and Overpower Action if diverting to Shields)
(And it's rather hard to correlate the duration in Turns to a Ships regeneration in minutes if out of combat use were to have been the intention...)

I dont think there is any common use case for this, and it will likely never have any value as written except in some very specific narrative situation in a particular game.
It is probably intended to actually do something more useful, of course. Just not actually written to.

Nice catch, but I think regeneration in Armada Battle is specifically for those Fleets, not singular ships (presumably to simulate the Fleet's Enginneers taking the divert action) while the mechanic Trick states "When acting in the engineer or chief mate roles during starship combat" but not when you act as 'Chief Engineer', which would be the applicable Role in Armada Combat, "temporarily boost your starship’s capabilities." with no talk about multiple Ships or Fleets.
