I've been playing a vanguard through Attack of the Swarm, recently hitting level 5. My character is built around using reach/trip melee weapons.
I've found it NEVER seems worth it to use the boosted entropic strike feature. Not because I don't mind spending the entropy points, but because the cost of using a move action to trigger the effect. I find if I'm in a situation where I could use the move action, it virtually always is better to instead take a full attack action, than having the chance to add a few measly d4s.
Would it be a reasonable fix to change the "boosting" to instead be a swift action? It almost always is a relatively small potential bonus to damage, which spends the resources even on a miss--I can't see it being imbalanced as a swift action. It baffles me that the designers choose to make it a move action...
Am I missing something else here...?

You are correct that typically a full attack is better.
I'm pretty sure it's intentionally a move action. I think it's mostly to make an attack of opportunity or a step up and strike hit harder. I dunno about unbalanced as a swift action, but I don't think it's really supposed to be the thing you dump your EP into regularly either.

At my level, there's not much else to spend my EP on though (besides the extra movement). Can't remember if there's more avenues to spend them as I get to higher level
