Dual Class Character Suggestions

Advice

Anyone have any good combos or suggestions for dual class characters? Or any good resources.

Friend is starting a new campaign, so dual class starting at level 3. Already have bard/rogue. He runs higher power level games, so a fairly strong combo is a good idea.
Been looking at some sort of caster or possibly champion/cleric. Was also looking into monk and all the interesting things they can do. Struggling to see how to get wildshape to work with monk.

So in short I have no idea what I want to play and am hoping for some ideas.I lean towards utility martial characters (I love bard and rogues).

Thanks

Witch Investigator is VERY solid as you get your pick of a Spellcasting Tradition, a Marial class with an Int base feature, a ton of Skills, and a fair AC that would let you play the Witch or Occult Caster angle without needing to say at range all the time.

Just a personal favorite of mine.

From your post, bard/rogue would also be pretty solid. You'd have full spellcasting, loads and loads of skills, and the nicest cantrips in the game.

The biggest downside I can foresee with that combo is dealing with analysis paralysis when trying to figure out what you want to do with your turn thanks to the sheer amount of options.

I made an human (Duskwalker) investigator[Forensic Medicine]/rogue[Mastermind].
Took Trap Finder, Known Weaknesses (for free recall with devise for mastermind flatfooted) and That's Odd (from Natural Ambition) at 1st.
Investigator has really good feats so I kept taking feats from it while I used a lot of rogue feats for archetypes, medic first then at 6th Loremaster [for Loremaster Lore and other goodies]

The combo gives you a skill advance every level, a skill feat every level and a [int/cha/wis] skill feat every 3rd level making it the ultimate skill monkey. Had every skill at 1st. Also my devise/Strike can add both sneak attack and Strategic Strike at ranged without the free recall and still have an action to use skills/skill feat like battle medicine or move. Battle medicine + Forensic Medicine + Medic allows battle medicine 1/hr/person and can ignore immunity to it 1/day [or 1/hr at master] and Assurance allows for auto-success.

Fighter - C.cleric. Be the fighter that can smite! Take a god with true strike and you can't miss. Awesome. GentlemanDM has a good guide for the deities to choose.

Monk - wild shape druid: have all the monkey stuff for your polymorph shapes.

Bard - Rogue was already suggested, I played a Bard - Thief for a bit. Lots of versatility, but casting spells won't happen much in combat.

Swashbuckler - bard would also work, wit. Bon mot or one for all.

Dragon barbarian - sorceror with disciple. Why cast spells when you can just spit on your enemies?

Ultimate Champion

Fighter/Champion LG Paladin. Use fighter to get double slice and the shield feats, extra reaction for shield block, and extra reaction for AoO. Use Paladin for Smite Evil, buffing your divine ally ,and the extra reaction to use your retributive strike. Eat through DR and always have your shield up and 4 reactions a round.

literally any two martial combo is a can't miss

past that I like cleric/druid
cleric/life oracle
druid/storm oracle
cleric/angel/psycpomp/undead sorc
druid/elemental sorc

Monk/Rogue so you can grab stumbling style. It lets you get free actions feints. Even if you get flanking in, flurry is still a strong ability to pair with sneak attack, and stumbling style has agile, finesse, and backstab traits.

Grand Archive

Ranger / Monk - for flurry of attacks at a low MAP

Rogue (Thief) / Fighter - Dex to dmg fighter with rogue number of skills

Rogue (Eldritch Trickster) / Bard - you can get two-ish traditions while still Bard/Rogue-ing

Wizard / Witch - Two full casting, two traditions, all Int...and a familiar

Oracle (flames) / Sorcerer (Elemental [Fire]) - because lighting things on fire never gets old...also 2 full casting traditions...also maybe goblin because better burny fire?

Oracle (Tempest) / Magus - because...you'll figure it out.

THanks for the great ideas. Have some research to do. FIghter champion could be very amusing. Get to tell the GM "I have a reaction to that" every time they do something.

But so many good caster options also...have not played a caster yet, so for that reason only I am leaning towards some sort of caster.

Generally speaking for pure power martial+martial is the way to go (assuming your group has healing + utility covered)

Fighter + Barbarian is beastly Due to the insane damage couple with fighter proficiency...

Fighter + Alchemist. Be the ultimate bomber.

Some possible dual-class combinations of caster and non-caster classes:

- Alchemist (bomber)/wizard (Transmutation school)

- Alchemist (chirurgeon)/druid (leaf order)

- Barbarian (dragon instinct)/sorcerer (draconic bloodline)

- Barbarian (spirit instinct)/cleric (with Versatile Font)

- Bard (enigma muse)/rogue (thief racket)

- Bard (maestro muse)/champion (liberator), worship Desna

- Bard (polymath muse)/fighter (Str-based), focus on Intimidation

- Champion (redeemer)/Cleric (worship Sarenrae)

- Cleric (worship Irori)/monk

- Druid (storm order)/ranger (Flurry edge)

- Druid (wild order)/rogue (scoundrel racket)

- Fighter (Dex-based)/sorcerer (fey bloodline), focus on archery

- Monk/wizard (universalist), with Monastic Weaponry and Hand of the Apprentice

- Ranger (precision edge)/wizard (Evocation school)

- Rogue (ruffian racket)/sorcerer (diabolic or hag bloodline)

I know it's not optimal but since I have not played a caster yet going to go cleric/sorcerer with harm and cast down. See how that works out. Looks like a fun concept.

Thanks for all your ideas.

Man I would flip my script to be able to play a dual class illusionist wizard / Master mind Rogue. The illusionist is super fun but without the skill boosts of a rogue, it is hard to really be that sneaky with your spells.

I have played rogues now in our last 2 campaigns, a ruffian and a thief. If I had not played one and another player is going bard/rogue I totally would have played something like that. I really enjoy them as a class, my favorite so far.

Any Martial + any Caster + Eldritch Archer

with dual class it is so much easier to pull off

so far I had lot's of fun with a Monastic Archer Monk/Sorcerer Eldritch Archer (you either flurry your enemies into oblivion or shoot those really strong sparky arrows, depending on the situation)
