Battle Herald and Bard stacking

From Battle Herald: " bard and battle herald levels stack to determine the bonuses provided by inspire courage."

The bard and battle herald get improved inspire courage at really different rates.

The bard is at +1 at 1st level, +2 at 5th level, +3 at 11th level and +4 at 17th level.

The battle herald is +1 at 1st level, +2 at 4th, +3 at 7th and +4 at 10th.

What is the inspire courage bonus for a level 5 bard/ level 1 cavalier/ level 2 battle herald?

As I see it:

The Battle herald class hasn't the Inspire courage class ability, it has Inspiring command, and that has its progression.
So you can use Inspiring command, with its progression but only with the Battle herald levels to determine the bonus value.
OR
You can use Inspire courage and use the sum of your Bard+Battle herald levels to determine the bonus.

So a 5 bard/ level 1 cavalier/ level 2 battle herald can choose between using Inspiring command as a level 2 Battle herald (+1) or Inspire courage as a level 7 Bard (+2).

With the exception of the +3 bonus, that you get way earlier with the Battle herald, if you make a bard 1/cavalier 5/Battle herald X, the character levels at which you get the different bonuses to inspire courage/inspiring command are very similar.
