What year is it?

My players have some characters from a previous AP. I told them we're creating new ones at level 1, but they're asking about the timeline. They want to know if it's been a few years and they might have heard of their other characters, or if it's been a generation and they might be descendants of their other characters.

I did a little searching and I found almost no mention of dates except 317 AG for the Dead Suns AP. Is there a timeline somewhere or a general description of when things happen?

It's 320 AG. Paizo always has the last two digits of their in world games match our current year.

The CRB was released in 2017 and the CRB's setting chapter noted that the current year was 317 AG.

This is all default, as a GM you can of course set your campaign in any timeline you want, but the ongoing adventures and setting development assume the real world passage of time and sequencing of the APs and SFS scenarios.

If you want to stick as close to Paizo's timeline as possible, Dawn of Flame started in 319 AG, since APs are assumed to start in the year they were published.
