I keep going back in forth in my head about whether or I not I think this should be pronounced:

ol-tuh-rain (like All Terrain)

-OR-

ol-tear-ee-un

How is everyone else pronouncing this?

I've been pronouncing it:

Al-Tie-Rein

I dunno, I like it.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I didn't make the word up, but I say it as:

all-TARE-ee-in

I pronounce it like "All Terrain" as well, but but I like "All Tie Rain" as well.

Humbled to have the mighty James Jacobs weigh in on my dumb question!

all-TARE-ee-in it is! :)

I've been going for the I-know-it's-wrong "all-tair-RIE-yin" because I really really don't want my players to start thinking of it as Castle All Terrain. My group is too easy to get off track as it is.

I feel your pain, I and my group are Portuguese, and now Greta Gardenia is just Ms Gardenia.

All because Greta is Portuguese slang for a certain part of the female anatomy....

Worst than this only Conna the Wise in Rise of the Runelords

Threads like this are why I'm waiting until all 6 books of Extinction Curse are out before I start anything. JJ's pronunciation is way more fantasy lit and immersive than my initial stumbling of... all terrain.

I've been using All-Tear-In for myself.

I say all terrain, because it's an all terrain vehicle (it takes you to all terrains).

My players are presently considering making their adventuring group name a pun on "all-terrain"...

I knew my players would never stop harping on the dopiness of “All-Terrain”. They still sing “Shaka Khan” every time I mention Kakishon from “Legacy of Fire.” I’ve been careful to pronounce it “AL- tar -ee -on”.

Paizo, always giving gaming tables the freedom to play how they want with their "no wrong answer" approach to game design. XD

I would say all-tier-in because I like the sound of that.

AE is uncommon in American. When they say it, it's "AY" like "AY-JISS" in "AEGIS Missile System".

British use it a lot and say "EE" close to the ancient Greek. Archaeology (ark-ee-ology), encyclopaedia (encyclo-pee-dia)

Maybe this will help for people like myself that are new to PF2 and still having this issue,
