Looking for intrepid gamers to to road trip with me to Paizoncon 2020 on one of the most beautiful train routes in the US.

See endangered glaciers. Game all day and all night. Join anywhere along the route.

The Empire Builder is an iconic route through the northern states: Wisconsin, Minnesota. North Dakota, Montana, Idaho and Washington. It follows much of the Lewis and Clark trail, and stops just outside Glacier National Park.

If you're interested here's the Amtrak map and schedule

Main stops: Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis/St Paul, Fargo, East Glacier National Park, Spokane, Seattle

That looks like an awesome trip!

I love trains and ride them any excuse I get. I'll be booking this trip even if no one wants to play Pathfinder along the way.

I agree. :)

My Mum did a trip from San Francisco up to Vancouver and then across the Canadian Rockies a few years back. She went in winter and loved it so much she booked to do it in Summer next US trip she had.

Sadly (well, not the right word but still...) I'll be in Budapest in the week leading up to Paizocon. Still trying to find a way where it makes sense to fly back home to Australia via Seattle. :p

Intriguing! Sounds right up my alley in several senses (I'm in Milwaukee). Not sure if I'll have the financial means to go to PaizoCon (always wanted to try it out), but this idea has my interest piqued.

I would genuinely be interested in this, what is your intended arrival date/time? Just to make sure I look at the right train.

The train runs once a day, arriving in Seattle at 10:25 am. That's way too late to arrive on Friday morning, so I'm planning on arriving in Seattle on the Thursday morning train.

That train leaves Chicago at 1415 (2:15 pm) on Tuesday, May 19, 2020
Timepoints along the way

Chicago IL 1415 Tuesday
Milwaukee WI 1552 Tuesday
St Paul/Minneapolis MN 2220 Tuesday

Minot ND 0906 Wednesday
Havre MT 1504 Wednesday
Whitefish MT 2116 Wednesday
Sandpoint ID 2349 Wednesday

Arrive Spokane WA 0140 Thursday
Depart Spokane WA 0215 Thursday
Arrive Seattle WA 1025 Thursday

Grand Lodge

We did that trip twice, in 2017 and 2018. In 2017 we gamed most of the way, and had a grand time. I hope you get a good group together for this!

Hmm

Shadow Lodge

Hopefully the Empire Builder board game was one of the things you played...

I've thought about taking the train to GenCon, as the station is like a block away. It'd be the California Zephyr to Chicago then the Cardinal down to Indy. But 3 days on the train each way is more time off than I can afford.

Getting to Paizocon on the Coast Starlight is more doable at 22 hours, but still an extra 2 days.
