Are we going to get a 2e version of the Shifter? Especially the Oozemorph?

I love the concept, but hated the execution of it in 1e...

Any chance we will ever see a fixed up 2e version? Hopefully not a few months before PF3.0

I too will be pumped to see a 2e Oozemorph.

I loved the concept of this archetype! But it had some big glaring flaws that could now be fixed.

We might get it back someday, but it doesn't look like anytime soon.

Yeah a working/usable oozemorph would be great. As would a working/usable shifter...

Who knows, maybe that can do it right this time?

With the current format as long as the class feats for the shifter are about the same as the druid shifting ones It would be hard to mess up. Just give them something to replace spell casting and BAM really.

I think the mistake they made last time was wedging wild shape into the shifter: I think they'd be better off focusing on abilities like Wild Morph and have an ability like Divine Font for those Wild Morph type focus spells. I'd rather see a shifter as someone that can claw you with tiger claws while flying with dragonfly wings and not someone that imitates a druid and turns into a wolf.

I thought the mistake was having wild shape work worse then a druids. I think I basically want Mystique combined with an animorph. also yeah cool like grow claw and wings powers. Basically all that is changing your form wrapped up into one.

Not IMO: it took several levels to kick in and it changed your whole body. Shifter Aspect never really filled in the gap for me for shifting various parts of your body that I wanted from the class. Now I don't mind if a shifter can change their whole body, but for myself, I don't want that to be the main thing they do. Give me a feat that lets me turn an arm into a tentacle and slap someone 15' away and drag them to me and we're on the right track. ;)

Sounds cool.

I both like the tentacle idea but also worry its a bit to fetishy... So basically I'm all for it.

Just give me a proper, functional Oozemorph and I'll be happy...I just want to play a character that is a mixture of Odo from Deep Space 9, the T-1000 from Terminator 2, Mercury from the X-Men, and Mucus Tick from The Tick -vs The Uncommon Cold episode of The Tick cartoon.

I'd love it even more if all their forms still looked like ooze, just in the shape of whatever they are formed into (Like Mucus Tick)

Sadly, my Oozemorph Undine with Ooze heritage will just never work out in PF1 unless I get lucky and a home game GM allows me to homebrew an actual viable version of the class. Hopefully it might someday become a viable option in PF2 though.

Yes; this or the Synthesist as a class.

Oozemorph was a wonderful idea.

I would love a good Oozemorph or Shifter, preferably both as separate classes. But I would be pretty disappointed with them using Focus Powers, not as much as with actual spell casting but still extremely disappointed in using a limited resource instead of being constantly oozy or at will shifting.

Easiest way to do that is just up their weapon/armor skills to be like the other martial classes. Although in a lot of ways animal barbarians already kinda do this kind of class type as is.

Just a side thought...

I wonder if it would make sense to simply be a different ancestry, for those that want to be in a form 24 hours a day. In which case they could be that thing and play whatever class. Just musing out loud basically.

A shape shifting humanoid/ooze race would be kind of interesting, and might fit the bill for what some people are envisioning an Oozemorph to be.

For me, an Oozemorph is more of a class/subclass though. I am picturing someone who was so fascinated by oozes, they devoted themselves to studying and emulating them. They might be able to pull it off as a subclass of Druid in 2E, with a bunch of Oozemorph specific feats...a separate Shifter class would work better though, I don't picture them as spell casters, and I don't think subclasses can remove core class features.

On a related note, a class that shapeshifts into an ooze at a recently low level would be nice. Ooze Form spells were pretty rough to use, and the Cave Druid has a long wait to come online (both PF1). Not what Oozemorph was about, since oozemorph was about spending as little time as possible in ooze form.

Noone stops The Blob!

And I agree that the barb and druid already capture a lot of what the shifter could originally do, though I would also like to see oozemorph make a comeback. With how the game seems to prefer handing out resistances rather than blanket immunities I think there would be a lot more room to cleave more closely to what the spirit of the class should be without breaking power balance.

I would also absolutely love to see ooze companions. They were something I wanted to see in PF1 but never got.

I'd like the Adaptive Shifter to be the 'base' shifter with the others being class specific archtypes.
Mainly because I think the Adaptive Shifter was a great 'generic' shifter. One that didn't limit themselves to specific creatures or types. That way the more focused shifters can build off that.

If we get a Barbarian feat that gives spellcasting the Rage trait, we can make a great Shifter out of that.

We already have the "claws", all we need are some buff/polymorph spells to make it fly.

I feel like you could easily blend these two together. Being able to mix and match elements to create your own thing was something the Shifter advertised and never really delivered on. The Synthesist's ability to mix and max evolutions on the other hand did a great job of allowing for that customizability.

Blending those elements together might be a good way to create a shapeshifter that doesn't just end up feeling like a bootleg druid.

I agree with adaptive shifter being the baseline. Subclasses can fill out your particular forms, and I would like it if you could mix them.

I don't particularly like basing them on synthesist, because while I think focusing on one form should be valid; I think you should also have the choice of having different forms for different situations.
