The scenario says at the end of your move step.

I take it there is a move step wether I move or not so every turn I have a 50% chance of encountering one of the eldritch story banes... Is kind of hellish or i'm interpreting some rules the wrong way around?

You are interpreting it correctly; there is a move ste each turn whether or not you move. In practice it’s not that bad; the summons are fairly easy to deal with.
