I am almost assuredly insane for doing this. My RP commitments are already burgeoning...but when you get an idea in your head it is sometimes it is hard to ignore it.
So, I will do an interest check to start. If there is not enough interest for a game then that might quell the idea in my brain.
So, the idea is to run a campaign with an adventuring party made up of the patrons of the Red Dragon Inn. This would essentially be the prequel to the board game where the party comes in and drinks and carouses the night away.
What this means is that every submission would be an application to play one of the RDI characters.
Fiona the Volatile
Gerki the Sneak
Dierdre the Priestess
Zot the Wizard with his familiar Pooky
Fleck the Bard
Gog the Half-Ogre
Dimli the Dwarf
Eve the Illusionist
Wizgille the Tinkerer
Brewmaster Phrenk
Serena the Pious
Kaylin the Renagade with her companion Wulfric
Captain Whitehawk
First Mate Remy
Bryn the Boatswain
Tara the Navigator
Sera the Fleetfooted
Lizwick the Collector
Joran the Trickster
Zakhan the Drunken Master
Erin the Ever-Changing
Cormac the Mighty
Witchdoctor Natyli
Ozrik the Adept
Brother Bastian
Wrench
Zariah the Summoner
Halden the Unhinged
Keet the Treasure Hunter
Nitrel the Sapper
Essentially you would treat a character as a kind of writing prompt. The personality and mechanics described in that link above are locked in, but how you build the character to get there would be up to you. (For example, Zot has a familiar, Phrenk makes potions, etc etc, but what class levels and abilities do they have?)
Obviously some of the characters are not normally player races. Notably Gog, Phrenk, Natyli, and Kaylin. For those we would open up the ARG race builder for you to create a playable version of the race with an RP of 14 (in line with Common Drow like First Mate Remy.
I am thinking we would start around level 5. I don't have a full adventure planned out yet, but I imagine we would end in the upper single digits to lower teens (gaining 4 - 8 levels over the course of the adventure.)
If we have enough interest I will put together actual character creation guidelines. So...what do you think?

I left out the villains (RDI6) because I don’t think they would translate into pc-able characters. There were a few others left out be for similar reasons. For example in the card game you can play Pooky by himself, but that doesn’t really make sense in pathfinder. You can also, with the latest edition, play the bar owner and his employees...but would they really be leaving the inn?

I think the game has room for an appropriate amount of horsing around if the players are interested in making it that. Whether or not the game is comedic will really depend on what players we end up getting and if they want something comedic or more dramatic. I can go either way.
Along those lines...I should mention that Adonis should be considered playable as well. Nothing in his character would prevent a successful build of him. Not sure why he didn't make the list at first.

It seems like there's certainly enough interest to warrant it.
I'm personally eyeing Witchdoctor Natyli, Tara the Navigator, or Wizgille the Tinkerer
Keep eyeing all three. Since if I open up recruitment I have decided I will allow multiple applications from individual players since there will likely be some duplicate character choices and I will not be selecting more than one of any specific character. So if more than one character tweaks your fancy you can apply for all of them. During the application process you will give me a ranked preference and I will keep that in mind for selection.

Dotting, looking at Natyli
Going over the characters more thoroughly, Natyli, Kaylin, Whitehook, Tara, and Zariah are all interesting. It looks like a fun challenge to try and build some of these within the rules.

I’ve no capacity for another game in my quiver right now, but I must applaud this awesome concept.
I GM’d an IRL Runelords group once upon a time and used the Red Dragon Inn as the Rusty Dragon. The PCs would adventure, come back to the inn, and gamble/drink whatever coin they had earned during their day. It was great fun (and obviously only for Book 1 or Book 4).
Nevertheless, I wish you all the best and HUZZAH!
(Oh, and Cormac the Mighty is the best.)

Alright...seems like lack of interest will not be a valid excuse for me.
I will put the finishing touches on character creation guidelines tomorrow and a full recruitment thread will be opened tomorrow. Once it is opened I will put a link to it here.
Now to figure out what I want these people doing.
