GM Gyrwynt- "A Flower for Arianell" Looking for 5th level adventurers!

Recruitment

1 to 50 of 109 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

"Welcome one and all to the peaceful city of Tamran, the capital of Nirmathas! You'll find a happier people nowhere else, let me tell you. And why wouldn't we be happy? It's Archerfeast, one of the most exciting days a true blooded Nirmathian can enjoy! What...? You don't know what Archerfeast is? Why, you're in for a treat! One of Erastil's holidays, we celebrate with good food, good drink, and some good natured competition! You don't have to worship ol' Deadeye to join- Your more than welcome to enjoy the party! Heck, that Desnan living on the edge of town- Arianell was it? Anyway, her dances are the towns pride and joy..."

"A real shame she collapsed part way through her dance though- Caught a fever and couldn't stop mumbling about some blue flowers. The local clergy says she's stable and simply needs rest- Though... You didn't hear this from me, mind you- They think it's some curse. I hope no troublemakers are about- I wouldn't put it past those dastardly Molthuni to try and ruin our holiday... And speaking of... You wouldn't happen to be a Molthuni spy, would you...? Bwa haha! Scared you for a moment, did I? The look on your face- Well, don't you worry about a thing, I'm just pulling your leg. Go enjoy Archerfeast! I'm sure Arianell is just worn out- She's a fighter, that one!"

Sites and Posting Frequency:
We will be using a personal Discord for the campaign, and use Mythweavers for character sheets. Despite taking place on Discord, this will still be a one post/day, text only "Slow Burn" campaign. Combat will take place on a grid.

Homebrew Campaign Traits:
Childhood Friends You remember Arianell from your childhood, and the two of you have always been close, often rehearsing dances and idly gossiping with each other. You gain a +1 trait Bonus on Reflex saves, and Acrobatics is always a class skill for you.

Childhood Rivals You remember that, as a kid, you and Arianell used to compete with each other all the time, trying to be a better runner, a better dancer- Any shared interests became points of contention as you tried to out do each other. You Gain a +2 trait bonus on initiative checks, and Perception is always a class skill for you.

Molthuni Spy You are a proud Molthuni citizen, and are eager to serve your country. For better or worse, however, you are a sleeper agent- And you can't actually remember your standing orders, or any contacts you might have had. Passive Sense motive checks cannot reveal your true identity as a Molthuni Spy. Actions such as talking about Molthuni's virtues, carrying Molthuni paraphernalia, or otherwise hinting at your true nationality still open you up to Sense Motive checks as normal. In addition, personal thoughts about Molthuni are never revealed through divination and mind reading effects unless the caster intentionally looks for them- Giving you a second will save against the original dc to repress the info and end the effect

Aspiring Bookworm You had a lonely childhood... Until the book wagon came into town that is! The owner let you read all the books you wanted, but only until he left town. You can still remember the warm and comfortable smell of his library collection, and the many different and interesting tomes you pondered over. Linguistics is always a class skill for you. In addition, improve your research category by one stage- Novices become Scholars, and Scholars become Polymaths. Polymaths who take this trait gain a +4 trait bonus on research checks.

Guardian Librarian You used to run a book wagon, and traveled throughout Nirmathas to bring books to children who didn't have them. Unfortunately, Nirmathas is a dangerous place, and you've grown used to defending your library. Sadly, you can still remember the night Goblins managed to catch you off-guard, and turned your precious collection into a roaring bonfire. You have traveled to the capital to try and rebuild your lost collection of books, somehow. You gain a +2 Trait Bonus on all saves, a +2 Trait Bonus on Initiative checks and a +2 Trait Bonus on perception checks- But only while you or a party member are busy in the research phase while studying in a library.

Smoldering Revenge You remember your harsh childhood growing up in Galt- And how a Gray Gardener known as the Silver Blade stole the lives of your family. You can still remember the screams, the smell of smoke, and have resolved to track down the man known as "The Silver Blade" and bring him to justice. You have tracked him down to Nirmathas- But the trail has gone cold in the capital, and you've spent the past year looking for him- And you have a hunch he is involved in this years Archerfeast celebrations. **Sense Motive is always a class skill for you. In addition, you gain a new favored class option: (All) Add +1 to your Fire Resistance (Maximum resistance 15) You may choose this bonus upon taking a level in your favored class. This Fire Resistance stacks with Fire Resistance gained from other class features.

Tortured Soul Life is happy. The sun shines brightly, the wind feels pleasant, and you are generally happy. But once in a blue moon you can't help but wonder if you are forgetting something... You gain a +1 trait Bonus on Fortitude saves. In addition, you gain a +4 trait bonus on saves against any effect that would modify or manipulate your memory.

Alternative Memory You have your own unique and personal memories that draw you to the Nirmathian Capital. Gain a +1 trait bonus on will saves. In addition, you may select a single skill. That skill becomes a class skill.

Traitless You decided to select a single feat in place of two traits. Without a drawback, you can't seem to remember how you were going to get a campaign trait in! Special: This trait can only be taken by characters who either opted to swap out two of their traits for a feat. It provides no crunch, and has no apparent campaign relevance.

Special GM Forecast:
-Favored Enemy: Aberration, Humanoid (Human), Humanoid (???), Ooze, Outsider (Chaotic), Outsider (Evil), Outsider (Lawful), Undead
-Favored Terrain: Forest, Planes (???), Underground, Urban
-Instant rejection: If your base Wisdom is lower than 10, change your build
-Other:We will be using the Research rules from ultimate intrigue multiple times- It is important that at least one PC is proficient in Library research, as there will be multiple dusty old libraries to plunder secrets from- Some of which that have time- imperative reasons for quick research.

-Should anybody play a LoreMaster, a successful research check will reduce a Libraries kp by 2d6+2+Int modifier instead of the usual amount

-Additionally, Divination spells will provide bonuses for research, but will not over-ride some of the Library encounters or negate the need to study.

If you are interested, please describe your character below, as well as tell me which campaign trait they will be taking, and their general theme and class. I'm going to be running this campaign (concurrently) with two different parties of 6 people each. I'm hoping to start in about 7-8 days, but can be ready by Saturday the 30th if interest is high enough.

Character wise, the sky is the limit right now. I have a player trying to decide if he is going to be an Inquisitor or an Investigator, but that is the extent of party balance at the moment. If you have an interesting idea or question, feel free to ask me about it: I'm fairly laid back, and have a fairly balanced view of RAI and RAW.

And remember the most important rule: Have fun!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Hmmm.

Might play a Ranger. Of Erastil.

For reaaaaaaaaaasons.

Scarab Sages

I am curious about your assortment of allowed races, particularly gillmen, wyrwoods, and vine leshies. Are they going to be very rare and seem strange within the world of this game (as I would expect for most games, if they appeared at all), or will they be more commonplace?

I LOVE seeing another text game on Discord, by the way. I'm a big fan of how those games play as compared to the typical forum-based PbP. Discussion feels much easier, I think.

Looks interesting. Regarding races, any reasons Changlings are not allowed?

Are background skills being used?

The assortment of Races is a little bit of personal taste and a little bit of geographical logic.

The world I am running, by and large is Golarion. I'm not taking a lot of liberties, and am taking the lions share of my inspiration from Golarion Lore (For example- Wow, here is a cool dungeon! There isn't an adventure path or module that goes here, so I'll just send players there myself!)

With that in mind, the nationality of the world is what you would expect from typical standard fantasy. Lots of Humans, Dwarfs, Elfs, ext. With that in mind-

I'm allowing Planar Scions (Including more exotic ones, like Ganzi and Duskwalkers) because I think planar heritage is perfectly fine to bring up in a character. Your PC will be seen as strange, but not unheard of.
(I bundle Dhampirs in with Planar Scions for the same reason)

As for Gillmen, they can be found on the coastline a nation or two from Nirmathas, and they are pretty close to human, so they would be seen as strange, but not unheard of. (Though anyone who knows about Aboleths would steer clear of a Gillman)

As for the Wyrwood and Vine Leshies- Well, I'll admit that geographically Wyrwoods don't really have a presence in the Inner Sea Region. But Nirmathas has a pretty big and wild forest, so I wanted some plant representation. Both Wyrwoods and Vine Leshies would be seen as avatars of the forest, and more welcome in Nirmathas than other, less foresty nations. (And now that I think of it, some of the campaign traits don't mesh well with Wyrwoods and Vine Leshies, I'll have to quickly fix that)

Anyway, rambling aside, the Player options won't reflect the NPCs that will be interacted with.

The campaign will not be using the background skills sub-system.

Changlings? Hags and a coven of sorts are involved in the plot, so I'm on the fence about changelings. I'm not opposed to approving a changeling character, And do like changelings in general. I'm just not quite sure how a changeling Adventurer might affect certain motivations.

Ah, what the heck- a Changeling PC should probably be fine- As long as you run variant changeling options by me first. Or stick with a regular changeling.

If I do make a Changeling character she will be most definitely be anti-Hag. And of standard stock. :)

Silver Crusade

This is cool!
Time to think on things :)

As an aside, It's not a problem if multiple adventurers have the same campaign trait.

I would be completely fine if every adventurer was "secretly" a Molthuni spy, all trying to figure out what exactly they were supposed to be doing, without tipping off other adventurers about their true identity.

(Alas, this wont happen because the player who plans on being an Inquisitor is going to take one of the book-related traits)

How do you feel about a character who was a former mercenary working for Molthune with the Alternative Memory trait?

The long and short of his character concept is that, after his battalion put a village to the torch, he could no longer stomach life as a mercenary. He eventually met a young girl, Arianell, who was being attacked by something (Wolves? Something campaign-specific?) and, in some desperate and subconscious bid for redemption, defended the child. The encounter left him on the verge of death, but he was led by the girl to her home, where his wounds were treated by her parent(s).

He has tried to live an honest life these past several years and is determined to leave the senseless bloodshed of his previous life behind. He has taken up a solid, if uninteresting, job as a simple craftsman. It doesn't pay what he is used to as a former mercenary, but it's a way that he can keep his conscience clean.

He views Arianell like a surrogate daughter of sorts (Possibly in truth if her mother was canonically single when he was brought to their home?) and her recent illness has cast something of a pall over the Archerfeast he normally looks forward to.

Build-wise, he's going to be crafted like a tank. Defensive combat is his forte and protecting his allies through area denial is going to be a big part of his game plan.

Roleplay-wise, he's going to be an amiable "everyman's man" who is as friendly as can be and almost always looks for a nonviolent route. He knows and is liked by most of the locals because he's always looking to help people out. His adherence to his newfound code of conduct and outlook on life are nearly sacrosanct. For Arianell and those who he has found acceptance with, however, he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep them safe, even if he does seek forgiveness with the gods for it later.

Edit: Do we have to use the flavor of archetypes? The Cavalier's Sister-in-Arms archetype fits the general theme I am going with. I can select something else if we have to use the fluff of the archetypes, but it never hurts to ask.

I generally lean towards following the fluff of an archetype, but I think the character you've laid out would be fine to be a "sister in arms" despite not being involved with the gray maidens. (A brother in arms, perhaps?)

In any case, Arianell still has healthy and hearty parents- How would you feel about your former merc being a "close family friend", and possibly a drinking buddy with the father? (Who, coincidentally, is pretty good with blades and runs a woodworking shop.)

That aside, I like what I'm reading. The Alternative Memory trait is fine: You would meet Arianell being attacked by a simple mugger- At least, it seemed that way, but on his death he exploded in a burst of weird energy that left you momentarily blinded.

Though, I suppose I should probably ask- How open is he about his former Molthune employment? The people of Tamran are willing to forgive and accept a former Molthune merc who has seen the error of his ways, and actively works to help people.

...But regardless of if he keeps his past a secret or not, it has the potential to create some interesting interactions.

dotting, because I love the Guardian Librarian trait and want it on a fighter.

I had a lot of fun writing the traits ^-^

Guardian Librarian and Molthuni Spy are my favorites.

@GM: A connection to Arianell and her family is what really matters when it comes down to his core character concept. They were the catalyst for his redemption. I am content with your suggestion of him being a close family friend.

Thugs exploding in strange energy? Color me interested. All this talk of weird energy and strange flowers is making me think of Bloodborne and in a good way. It may not turn out that way, but the leitmotifs and elements I am reading about are making me quite interested in exploring what this game has to offer.

I would imagine my character would not go around advertising his past profession, but neither would he lie to conceal the truth. To him, concealing his past would be anathema to who he is as a person and what he is trying to achieve. A sin cannot be purged if it is not laid bare and secrets only lead to painful reveals and feelings of betrayal down the road. As he would put it, "A life built on a lie is as false and fragile as the lie itself." He doesn't really like talking about his past, but he would rather do so and work through the problems of it than to let it fester until an inopportune moment and it ruins the peaceful life he has grown attached to. I imagine that there is probably at least one person that actively hates him around town, but he tries to be congenial towards them as well despite their misgivings about his past.

Oh and that phrase he used in the previous paragraph? I am using that as one of the quotes he learned from a book he found and either read or purchased from one of the traveling bookwagons you mention in the other campaign traits, depending on whether they rent like a library or sell like, well, a bookseller. He is quite fond of books, particularly books on philosophy, poetry, and theology. This might give him an interesting connection to another character who happens to select one of those traits since he would be a frequent patron/customer that is not unwilling to strike up conversation about the implications of a philosophy, the hidden meanings in a poem, or more esoteric allusions in a religious fable. He may be ropy and musclebound, but he has more cultured tastes than his appearance otherwise suggests.

Now that I am getting more involved in working on the character, I may alter his class choice, depending on what happens. Vanguard Slayer might actually be a better choice, when all is said and done but, again, I am exploring my options.

If your content, then I'm content. I look forward to playing with this character! I'd send you the discord link right now- But I haven't quite finished getting the channels finalized, or gotten comfortable with what I can do with the dice bot.

As for the traveling bookwagons- I currently envision a singular "book-mobile" traveling throughout the Fangwoods on a circuit, renting/lending books out to smaller villages and settlements before eventually looping back after a few months. Of course, If multiple people take the Guardian Librarian, it stands to reason that multiple bookwagons are traversing Nirmathas. Are they Rival Bookwagons? Do they serve different regions and never meet up? Is there a Bookwagon mega-corporation taking over the inner sea region one nation at a time??? I'm clearly sitting on a Goldmine here, and can't wait to here more about this elusive bookwagon menace in the Lost Omens world guide

Sarcasm aside, the specifics of the bookwagon(s) will be handled by players that choose that specific trait.

In any case, I'm flattered you find the concept interesting. I've definitely incorporated a few thematic elements into the traits, as well as a light sprinkling of interesting plot hooks- I hope the final campaign can live up to expectations ^-^

What about old characters? Just fluff (like in PFS), or do we use the suggested stat adjustments?

I'm thinking of making a Viking for this.

I'm not sure your ruling for them are, but Kitsune can be from the Land of the Linnorm Kings apparently (map from blood of beasts)? Never played Kitsune before so was thinking of giving it a shot, I am perfectly happy to play a human otherwise.

Would take a bonus feat, Magical Klutz drawback and Childhood Rivals. I see it as the young Arianell would try and compete with "Uncle" Lars whenever he was in town. He would watch over the kid for some of the early years of her life before being called back to his homeland.

@Ellioti Age will be handled as fluff (with the exception of forced magical aging, which probably will not come up in this adventure)

@Origami Dog Kitsune are kinda like changelings in regards to having a pc play one, but instead of plot reasons, I'm more Leary of mechanical reasons.

That aside, an older Viking Kitsune sounds interesting. I think I'll allow Kitsune on a build-per-build basis. I need some time to mull over why I'm weary (As it's more of an impression than worry over any specific build.)

In any case, I'd like you to dm me a "roadmap" of sorts on what you want your Kitsune to do (mechanically). Are you going after magical tails? Are you going to focus on combat in kitsune form? I'd like to know more.

@Everyone I've noticed a pattern of Older friends/role models/family members. I'd like to state that while I don't have a problem with this, I never addressed Arianell's age, or her parents.

Arianell Klingeman is a young woman, a human who looks to be about 22-24. She tends to dress in a modest, dark blue dress. It's hems are lined with lace, and flutter in the breeze as she dances- Bearing a curious similarity to a butterfly, and the holy symbol of Desna that hangs around her neck.

Her parents are Adeilla Klingeman and Arther Klingeman. Running a small workshop on the outskirts of Tamran, Arther tends to spend his days sharpening tools with his wetstone on their front porch, keeping an eye on potential customers.

Adeilla Klingeman and Arther Klingeman are in their mid-fifties, but age has not slowed either of them. Adeilla works in a nearby temple of Desna, teaching anybody who bears even the slightest interest the teachings of her god. When she isn't preaching, she teaches children the art of dance. On occasion she is known to put the teachings of wanderlest into practice, going on impromptu adventures, often returning after a few days with a freshly hunted beast, a lost orphan, or some other interesting trinket.

Arther is more of the silent and stern type, an odd pairing with his wife. Anybody who get's to know the brawny craftsman well discovers a deep well of compassion behind his stern shell. His crafts are known to be functional and sturdy- Though his aesthetic sense could use a little work. In any case, his workshop doubles as a home, and a large one at that. With multiple rooms and a well stocked larder, he is ready to take visitors. Which is just as well, as his household is well known for befriending wandering adventurers, people down on their luck, and any number of other people.

The Klingeman couple have a single daughter, Arianell. As a single girl, many people have tried to win her heart, especially on Archerfeasts. However, she has not accepted any professions of love to date, and most eligible and potential dates in town have accepted her love of Dance and Desna outweigh the need for romantic companionship.

Sounds neat, I'll write up something when i get home. I do have a question though, why the instant rejection for dumping wisdom? Im not one to dump his stats but i am curious about wisdom in particular.

A few (higher level, endgame) creatures I want to use have pretty nasty abilities, including the intended final encounter. While I'm not expecting every player to min-max their saves, I don't want to worry about some random fighter/brawler/ext who has the will save of a small animal.

Of course, while the end-game content is not set in stone, and will invariably change and be balanced based off party composition, having a decent will save is always a good idea- And while I figured I probably wouldn't get any submissions with low wisdom due to the campaign flavor hinting at intrigue and research... I figured I would save myself some time and stress by preemptively warning people not to dump their wisdom.

I'm the inquisitor he keeps mentioning - hello! My character has been more-or-less finalized as a Skinwalker (Aerieborn) Inquisitor with a few archetypes and the Aspiring Bookworm trait. Another player is a Duskwalker Druid who plans on focusing on melee, and another one is tentatively leaning towards Arcanist who likes Divination.

@Gramork I get the impression that Gyrwynt plans on having us make a bunch of will saves. Several of the campaign traits he gave us mention "effects that read or modify memory", as well.

Sounds cool, I was just intrigued by the ''instant rejection'' category.

Would a Bloodmarked Skinwalker Witch be OK.

My guess would be yes as Skinwalkers are explicitly allowed. But some think that taking the bat form feat and being able to use hexes as a bat is not desirable.

Silver Crusade

This is what I have so far

Kellion, knight of nature’s beauty

first impression:
Flying towards the festival came a strange and wondrous sight. An enormous speckled owl with a wingspan as wide as a human is tall. And on it was… a halfling with long black hair and a fashionable beard that was dressed up as a knight. Complete with plate armour and a lance in hand. Red, yellow and green ribbons were flowing from his helm and lance. He guided his owl deftly through the air and held its lance high as if accepting cheers from the crowd. From close by could be seen that a sigil was proudly displayed on his chest: a stag with jewelled antlers, and with a multi-coloured songbird sitting in those antlers The knowledgeable would recognise this as Shelyn’s bird sitting in the antlers of Cernunnos. After a few tours, the halfling landed skilfully, to walk proudly among the crowd, while his great owl picked a nice roof to sunbathe on.

Happy with it, so far. The idea is a halfling that got enchanted by the books he protected as a youngling, but (for a change, with that hook-up) did not become a bard, but instead followed his instincts into the woods, to get trained by fey aerial knights (gnomes, pixies, gathlains, and the like).

I'll write a full background and look for magic items, but my wife has called me to bed half an hour ago, so... later ;)

@Joynt Jezebel Yea, a Skinwalker witch would be fine- Just understand that earlier-ish levels will have indoor and underground combat that will hinder flight tactics- But at the higher levels combat will mostly have the open sky to fight in (And at higher levels, most enemies will have a fly speed anyway) Just be sure to write up good fluff and backstory, as I do value roleplay and whatnot.

@Viondar I've got basically the same thing to tell you as Joynt- Understand that there will be combat not suited for flying (And mounts for that matter), but that aside your character looks good to me! I've always loved the Eldritch guardian archetype, so I'm glad to see a submission using it.

So far, I'm looking at an Inquisitor (@NewxToa), an Arcanist, a melee-Druid, a flying fighter (@Viondar) and a melee tbd (RadiantMercy)

A divine full/caster capable of removing curses/diseases/debuffs in general would be useful. A Paladin would be a strong choice, as well as someone built for studying libraries.

From the Alt rules for Library research- Classes with Bardic Knowledge are Polymaths, Int-based classes (And classes that are aesthetically related to being smart, such as a Lore Warden fighter) are Scholars, and everybody else are novices.

Just to make things clear: There will be Library encounters with lethal challenges. There will be libraries that you'll want to get the info and go. I hope to see some Polymaths submitted (As a reminder, the Aspiring Bookworm Campaign trait boosts your researcher step, so a LoreWarden could become a Polymath with that trait.)

...With all that said, those were just suggestions. ^-^ Feel free to continue submitting whatever classes/builds you want to play, I'm still looking for about 5-ish submissions.

(I'm going to be running two groups concurrently, 6 people apiece.)

Rules Edit and Clarification: After looking through some numbers and after a realization or two, Ignore the following:

Previously I was going to run Library research off the character class variant rules, where your class dictates how proficient you are.

After some considerations, I have decided to forgo that pointless limitation and encourage everybody to develop knowledge skill ranks.

The following edit is now in place:

1) We will be using the regular rules for library research, found in Ultimate Intrigue

2) The Aspiring Bookworm Trait still functions as written.

3) If anybody plays a Lorewarden, they still get the listed, homebrew bonus on research checks.

I apologize for any confusion on the matter.

Not meaning to be a pedantic jerk, but knowledge oriented characters often appeal to me.

But Loremaster is a prestige class that can't be taken until L8. And I have no idea what a Lorewarden is.

So I thought I'd ask for clarification :-)

Lore Warden is an archetype for fighter that is designed to counter the Dumb Fighter stereotype ^.^

Knowledge characters are fun!

And yeah- I know people can't go Loremaster until LV 8. But I'm just saying if anybody wanted to go that path, that they would be slightly better at researching than other pc's

Scarab Sages

Would the Pathfinder Chronicler fit into that niche, too?

I'm thinking about possibly doing a bard, and I think I might be more interested in continuing progression of bardic performance and bardic knowledge (Pathfinder Chronicler) than of spellcasting (Loremaster).

I'm sure that's not optimal (what can compete with spells?), but...I like those class features.

Yeah, I think it will qualify:

The special bonus for Loremasters is a hangover from when I wanted to decide "researcher status" off the class, and not the individual rank.

Any prestige class that grants or enhances Bardic Knowledge will grant 2d6+2+int towards research checks made with Knowledge skills the PC has Polymath status in.

Silver Crusade

There are some great psychic disciplines geared towards lore and knowledge, like the dream and the lore discipline.

Anyway, places not suited for flying are fine by me. The owl is medium size, so a 5' corridor should suffice for a charge run, just not for any maneuvring. I could also look for ways to increase the owl's land speed for ground-based charges. Or I can dismount and the owl can become tiny again to scout.

Thank you for your appreciation. I've never made a fighter, before, but these archetypes have always drawn me. Just like the gloomblade still draws me... But I can't have it all at once. :)

So... I've decided to remove risky striker in favour of spirit ridden. I reckon the ability to use any skill is more valuable (and more fun) than extra damage to large creatures.

This seems like the perfect place to play an Investigator. I've always wanted to try out the class.

Consider this a dot, and I'll have something built around one of your Bookwagon traits soon.

Cool.

Bat Shape is still an excellent feat, especially for a witch.
I may not be able to do flight tactics but it is still good for scouting, stealth and trying to not be seen as a threat. I can try to pass myself off as a bat that just happens to be there or as a familiar. I don't think there is any sign as to where a hex is coming from w/o a spell or ability that allows you to do that.
I am working on a character.
And will try to get my writing skills working for a background.

Gyrwynt- apologies for the double post but I have a question.

How long has it been since Tamran was last occupied by Molthune? My character's background involves being a guerrilla against the forces of Molthune and it would help to know how recent the wars and occupation of the capital were.

Scarab Sages

Gyrwynt, are you okay with variant multiclassing from Pathfinder Unchained?

I'm starting to lean toward playing a mesmerist and I'd really like to take the bard VMC with it (giving up half of my feats, but gaining bardic knowledge and, eventually, some of the bardic performances).

Silver Crusade

I'm back with my character submission!

Selma Baker, Empiricist Investigator, Aspiring Bookworm:

Born to a family of bakers in the city of Tamran, she was a curious yet aimless child, until one fateful encounter with a bookwagon. She found several volumes on technical subjects, ranging from alchemical formulas to arcane theory to mechanical engineering. This sparked in her an obsession with anything complex and intricate.

The next several years of her life saw her devouring any knowledge she came across. Eventually she put her knowledge into practice, becoming a general problem solver and Ms. Fixit for the community. She would tackle any problem or mystery, financial compensation being appreciated, but not her primary concern.

Though she developed positive professional relationships with many people in town, she only really has one close personal friend, a young lady roughly the same age as herself named Arianell Klingeman. Her friend's recent collapse has hit her hard, and she has dropped all other projects to pursue helping her friend.

---

She is a short and stocky girl, with brown eyes and short, bob-cut brown hair. She wears sturdy workman's clothing, with a set of reinforced leather armor for hazardous environments.

@Joynt That's fine, no worries

It's been about 2 years since the last occupation. In recent months, rumor has it that Chernasardo Rangers have had good success pushing the frontline into Molthune-controlled territory, and as a result preparations for the upcoming ArcherFeast have been more excited and upbeat than usual.

@Keante Yea, VMC should be fine if you would like.

@MattZ Your character looks good! I look forward to having an Investigator on board.

(Also, Dilettante is an interesting feat! Between that and Spirit ridden, this recruitment thread has already inspired me with interesting concepts to explore next time I create a skill-based PC in another campaign. ^-^)

As a reminder to everyone: When I send out the discord links (Which I hope to have ready Friday night/Saturday morning), we will be using Mythweavers for the character sheets. With that being said, I do appreciate everyone who is detailing the nitty-gritty of their crunch in this thread.

Another quick clarification: The Flavor text for the campaign occurs slightly after the actual start of the campaign. When we start, it will be the morning of ArcherFeast, giving everybody a chance to establish what their character is doing, get the party together, and roll skill checks to learn various things. (Such as- why has Arianell collapsed? What is that holy symbol over there? What rumors are circulating the public? ext. ext.)

Silver Crusade

Vmc ok???

That opens so many more options for my concept! (the concept being: halfling on owl with lance). I could get the familiar via VMC...

Until when will you accept changes/makeovers?

Ok I think it's ready, here the Viking Kitsune Lars Strömberg!

Flavor:
Lars first met Adeilla on an ill-advised raid, which ended in most of the raiding party dead. The leader of the raid, a hotheaded younger Lars, managed to evade capture but not before taking a couple arrows. As he lay dying in the forest, Adiella came across him and saved his life. Indebted to her, Lars swore a blood oath to protect her and with time, her kin. The two of them travelled together for a time, but eventually Lars returned to his jarl and faced punishment.

The kitsune would return every spring for the next 30 years, only failing to return three times. Secretly, Lars was in love, but he buried those feelings when Adeilla married Arther. Out of the family, only Adeilla knows Lars’ true form. As her guardian, Lars was often watching out for young Arianell, taking her fishing and teaching her some of his martial techniques. She greatly resembles her mother, which gives the old fox mixed feelings.

In human form, Lars stands 6’2, a sturdily built man wearing heavy furs and armor. His great beard is red, like his hair, and streaked with grey. Proud of its fullness and length, he often compares it to a dwarf’s.
HIs true form is only about 5’4 but still built like a rock. His fur is white with patches of grey, It’s thick and fluffy, well suited for winter. Unfortunately, kitsune can’t grow beards, but at least his four tails are well cared for.

I will accept changes up until I get a mythweavers link and approve it, at which point I will consider it set in stone and finalized.

@OrigamiDog Backstory looks good, and your crunch seems fine as well- Though I have to ask: What's with the +1 level bonus for both Wisdom and Charisma? I'm not sure what I am missing, as Pathfinder does have a lot of rules options, but I would like to know the specifics before I give him the go-ahead.

I know I've been making a lot of clarifications and suggestions in my last few posts that may seem to come out of left field- I hope nobody minds.

With combat, I am going to need tokens to represent everyone, so be sure to have something in mind. There will be a channel on the discord server to submit tokens: They do not have to match your character, and your Paizo/Discord user icon should suffice if needed.

Just be sure that the icon's are appropriate, and preferably distinct: The combat grid I will be using/ the manner I will be updating said grid might make individual tokens look on the smaller side- I am looking into ways to circumvent this issue, though I suppose you're guys opinion on the first combat will dictate if I am reading into this too much, or if the combat grid is fine as it is.

When you mention planar scions, am I to assume variants are fine as well? Specifically I'm thinking of a Garuda-blooded Aasimar.

Yes, Variants are fine with one exception:

If the race has a 1d100 table for alternate racial features, you cannot use that table. Otherwise, variants such as (and not limited to) a Garuda-Blooded Aasimar, a lava-soul Ifrit, or a Ganzi with an Oddity are fine.

Oops! I guess I never realized this when I moved over from 4e, but you only get a bonus to one stat! In that case, he'd get a bonus to WIS not CHA. Been GMing mostly so I didn't really notice.

Okay, no problem then. In that case everything else seems in order. It will be interesting to play with a Kitsune Viking!

If you still got room for another character I have one I'd like to play in this.

Yanu Heldfast - Human Oracle (Lore Mystery, Haunted Curse, Spirit Guide and Possessed Archetypes). Alternative Memory trait.

She's one of the orphan children Adeilla Klingeman brought back to town. She's a little younger than Arianell and they've spent some time together, especially early on when Yanu was adjusting to her new home and sought out Adeilla for reassurance. Hearing that Arianell has taken ill Yanu is determined to do whatever she can to help as she was once helped.

Whatever events led her to wander the roads alone left her with an usually clear connection to the spirits, and some rather unpleasant memories. While not all the spirits are friendly Yanu has chosen to work with them to master her abilities, and one day hopefully discover the secrets behind them.
