Baseball is completely unknown here, so any baseball references and metaphors are lost on me.

Mostly in the "OK" column. I'm pretty much recovered from my fall just minutes before game time Saturday (so I had to postpone it AGAIN) so that's good. My son is quarantined here with me...yay...until his COVID test results come in, so THAT might get the game postponed again, and one of my players is quarantined because his job didn't tell him until Monday that by last Friday 26 people were out with Supercooties and that he had been exposed to at least five of them. So, we're waiting on those results.

How does this put more in the OK side than the bad? Well, as I mentioned I'm able to get around again after the fall, I managed to squeeze out a new blog post the other night (first in a while), my son and his gf have managed to keep the house in its present state of semi-cleanliness for five days in a row and not make it a toxic dump again (believe me, this is big), I finally got off my butt and had a patch of skin on my arm sent off to be analyzed for signs of skin cancer (I've been putting that off forever), 2 liter Mountain Dew is 3 bottles for $4 right now at the supermarket near my house (woot!), I've managed to not eat out as much this week as I normally do (I hate cooking and cleaning up the mess), and I found out that my son's band will be playing at the legendary Whiskey A-Go-Go in Hollywood as the opening band for Quiet Riot (we're more excited about the location than QR lol. Quiet Riot is fine and Rudy Sarzo is back with them on bass, but the Whiskey is a rock and roll holy site). They've landed some UK gigs for this summer (they were supposed to go to Europe twice for two weeks at a time last year but COVID...), and I got a Cost of Living Allowance raise where my disability check is concerned. So yeah, things are pretty groovy at the moment.

Hobby flurking schnit, Whiskey A-Go-Go?! That's freaking awesome!

Glad to hear things are going well at the moment, that's great.

Things are good at Quibble Acres, but I've been a bit dragging all the same. Mostly because a lot of my friends are really struggling, and even though things are going well for me, it's hard to watch them hurting, especially since I know there's not really much I can do beyond just being present and knowing that everything eventually passes.

Last night I was asleep and the cat crept up and fell asleep on my hand. I woke up and moved it out from underneath him, because it was pins-and-needles. He chomped down on it and dragged it back under himself.

"Awwww," my wife said when I told her in the morning.

"No. Not awww. I've seen lions do that to dead gazelles on nature shows."

And was there a man, or men, from Nantucket?

Ooo! Ooo! Lemme guess!

The Lady’s Dressing Room by Swift?

"Harlem" by Langston Hughes.

Spoiler:
"So, really think about that dream 'festering like a sore.' Imagine your lifelong ambition oozing pus; everything you've ever worked for reduced to a weeping ulcer."

Pfft.

Gotta toughen those kids up!

Tired of all the negativity we see on social media? Let's all post something positive for a change. I'll start -- My COVID-19 test came back POSITIVE. I suspected I was because the last few days I've felt like complete crud. Y'all just stay away from me a few days. Crap.

(Puts on ragged cloak and walks away swinging a bell shouting "Unclean!").

Friend whom I seen on Monday got a positive results today, after his wife tested positive yesterday. I used the self-test yesterday after learning about his wife's infection but I might had been within the time window before the virus starts showing.

I'm not making this up; I've seen at least a half dozen references to "The Omega Man" in my newsfeed lately. I mean, if they're going to show me links to the movie version they should at least give me Vincent Price.

Good luck!!

And just now our GM from Monday got a positive result.

It's likely that I am infected as well.

Arh, I has me work cut out for I, clearly. Do 'ee both sit still while I hooks 'ee up to this intravenous drip o' 120 proof rum and burns gunpowder in yer nostrils. After that, a light flogging and some salt pork should set 'ee right.

Oh no!

As if this day couldn't get even more special, I just broke a tooth in half eating a friggin' egg roll. So now I'm COVID+ and I have to see if my dentist will allow me into her office tomorrow to address this.

Oh, crap.

Yeah. That is far the best time for a tooth problems...

Not that there is ever a good time for them, in the first place.

Get tested for COVID as soon as you can, my friend!

Surprise! This day DID get even more special! I looked up my dentist's phone number and they're CLOSED ON FRIDAYS NOW!

Someone just come shoot me. Text when you get here. Knocking on the door makes the dogs bark and I'm not in the mood for that.

Don't fall asleep too soundly.

I have no doubt my cat will drag out then bat my kidneys around on the floor for hours.

DMCal's Weekend Update

Well, the broken tooth problem is halfway resolved; I got aggravated at the loosey goosey half of the stupid thing last night and pulled it out myself. It was broken at the root and as a result there was no pain or bleeding when I did it. I still plan to see the dentist next week but at least I can now eat and sleep without fear of swallowing the stupid thing.

Much more aggravated than hardcore. I'm a wimp when it comes to pain. Had it hurt when I was moving it around I'd have stopped immediately and curled into a ball...LOL

*sound of old fashioned teletype machine overlayed with bombastic, dramatic music*

This news just in; I still have COVID. My symptoms began on the 13th. Fortunately, I've not been hit as hard with it as many have, but the symptoms won't go away. Lung crud, fatigue, vertigo, and a low to mid-grade temperature that simply won't leave. Ugh.
