I don't know if you're still hanging around here, but I recently read A. A. Milne's Once on a Time and wondered if it was an influence on you at all. I found it to have a similar style and sense of humor, albeit with a far lower body count and no goblins.

Oo, no, not caught that one, so now I need to read it and see. It looks interesting, and the quote I see about Milne writing it for his wife is curious as the Wise Wench of Goblins - who knows everything and who is never wrong - is based very much upon my better half.
I need to investigate this closer, thank you:)
