That's the catch, though. In Starfinder a bedroll and a sleeping bag are different things: the bedroll is described as a memory foam sleeping pad that you put your sleeping bag or blanket on. I was wondering if there's any precedent to putting such a pad on a cot and then your sleeping bag on top of the resulting combo, or if you generally just use one or the other.

I have also seen pads put on cots, under sleeping bags. You don't need to, since a large part of the point of the pad isn't so much being soft as isolating you from the cold, possibly damp, ground. But you can do it.
