SFS Character Leveling

Starfinder Society

Forgive me if this has already been asked I wasn't able to find it in searches.

Other than the Society guidebook 3XP per level change, are there any other rules differences from pages 26 and 27 of the core rulebook I should be aware of for leveling an SFS character?

THANKS!

Your first level character is a ball of protoplasm. You can re write anything you want until you're played at second level

Everything else i can think of is the same.

Greetings, GreyWolf! Good question. Generally Society characters are meant to match the Core Rules as much as possible. This helps new players transition to Society play without a huge set of "house rules" to adapt to.

To expand on what BNW was alluding to, Starfinder Society gives new characters a sort of "trial period" where players are allowed to rebuild and tweak whatever them however you like.

You could play your first game as a Vesk Soldier with 18 Strength and Weapon Focus, your second game as a Shirren Mystic with 18 Wisdom and Harm Undead, and your third game as an Ysoki Mechanic with 18 Int and a Drone.

By the time you've played your first session above 1st level with that character (usually your 4th session) that character is "locked in". Your only options for a rebuild at that point would be a mnemonic editor, which you can't acquire access to until a couple levels later.

Hope that answers your question. To help you out with any other questions, I'll go ahead and flag your post to be moved over to the Society Forum. You'll see both Bignorsewolf and I over there a lot, too ^_^

Thanks a bunch to both of you.

Spoiler:
I played the 1-99 special via pbp and took the Slotless Boon to allow my character to gain the xp to move to level 2. I like him like he is at this point so I'm going to go with it. :)

I knew the question would come up eventually, I just didn't expect it so soon. I am still figuring out a lot of things about this system having not played any system with any kind of tie to DnD before.

an attempt to give the broad picture most of it will be irrelevant now but you never know what someone's missed

Sorry, this made me chuckle. Paizo Society play has more house rules than any game I've ever played or seen.
