• A larger "7" for the Character Number
• Removed the "Normal" checkbox for credits (there is no Slow Track)
• Moved Chronicle Number box down into Player/Character information (because seriously, new players miss it up in the top right corner)
• Added Infamy tracker to right side of sheet (because that should be something the GM does)
• Removed GM signature from bottom of sheet (because, why? We already have GM initials in the boxes and GM #)
• Changed "Initial Fame" to "Starting Fame" (For consistency, because every other section has "Starting")
• Added "other" box for out-of-the-ordinary credit totals, possibly for when someone goes Slow Track, or also when a group misses a success condition or cannot continue the session.
• Added "Subtotal" box for Credits (did you know we haven't had a subtotal box in PFS since Season 4!??)
• Changed the somewhat redundant pairing of "Final" and "Total" to just "Final" (open to discussion)
• Removed several of the corner markings, but left the ones inside the actual Chronicle text area (if this doesn't make sense, compare Draft 1 to Draft 2)
• Placed a "Chronicle #" box back up in the top right.
• Changed the previous location of "Chronicle #" to "Current Faction Championed".
• Equalized the pixel width and height of the boxes on the right side
• Reformatted boxes for Factions and Reputation
• Added shaded area for GM to fill in Reputation Gained
• Changed from 6 sections to 4
• Elongated lines for Player Name and Character Name by removing redundant top line for Faction Championed
Point of discussion:
I still want to make room for a "Total Reputation" box or section, but can't currently imagine a layout. It would probably take the spot of section 4. Any suggestions?

Current Situation and History are sufficiently different data types that they're really hard to compress into a single data structure.
Indeed.
Even if it can't be done, at least maybe we can reformat the current sheet so that GMs and players understand how to track everything better.

Version 3 is looking pretty sweet. While I agree that it would be nice to be able to easily track each faction's reputation as well as total reputation, this at least allows an easy notation of what changes occurred during this game related to this chronicle sheet.
As to GM initials, I think they are really only needed if they made an error and therefore a change. The procedure could be: single line strike through the error; write correction; initial to validate the change.

Why do all of them have room for 4 (sub)tiers?
I have two guesses:
1) Leadership knew there'd only be four subtiers for the Special this Season, and created the Season 1 Chronicle to accommodate that with the intention being to redesign it for Season 2.
2) The 4th box will eventually be used for Slow Track, since the boxes are not wide enough to fit two different credit totals as they were in Pathfinder's Slow Track.

I adore having a subtotal box as well for credits. I do wonder if Leadership is open to the idea of putting it back in after years of not having it.
For Version 4 I'll be changing that 4th Faction/Reputation line to something that totals all Reputation ever. Probably just as a number, since "Total" is more important than listing 3-4 Factions with 1 Reputation each.
Anybody have any other suggestions or critiques before I post?

I just want everyone to know that I am watching this thread. As we announced at PaizoCon, there's a planned delay of the 1.5 Guide to Sept-Nov time frame, just to allow us to incorporate some additional feedback and focus our attention on the hectic convention season. Some of the items in this thread are on my agenda for looking at.
That being said, please feel free to keep the conversation going and know that I'm here... lurking.... hiding... watching O_O

Know it! Need to put more ranks in perception....
On a serious note, there are some good ideas here. I don't agree with them all but some are really good.

To be very frank, I think a huge part of the paperwork problem could be solved by a better reporting tool - but we're unlikely to ever see it unless the organized play team is given their own dedicated web developer.
The reporting tool could generate downloadable chronicle sheets for players, either for online players to download at their leisure or for tabletop players to replace lost sheets with.
Right now, the tool can't even track fame/reputation correctly. It doesn't understand which scenarios are repeatable, it doesn't allow full fame/reputation to be reported for APs, and it doesn't track replays from Novas. Since the information it reports is expected to be incorrect, the only real purposes it serves is achieving GM nova status.
These problems have persisted since SFS was launched and given that web developer priority is given to troubleshooting store issues they're unlikely to get addressed with the current team.

The lack of functionality has been with PFS for a long time too.
Agree that a dedicated developer or two would help a lot. The problem is that reporting functionality does not produce revenue.

The problem is that reporting functionality does not produce revenue.
But society play does and it relies on a ton of volunteer energy.
Supporting those volunteers with the tools we need is an essential part of this ongoing relationship. Certainly a tiny percent of the sales we generate is enough to cover a web developer's salary.

I just want everyone to know that I am watching this thread.
Thank you, Thurston!
May we pick your brain for suggestions from a Leadership POV? I'm betting some design elements exist because of a reason, and I wouldn't want to design something that had already been decided wasn't appropriate.
As an example question, how many boxes are best for listing credit values? The current design is 4, but was that created just for this first Season or was it intended to be that way forever?
Do you even like having Fame/Infamy side-by-side? Do you think that might get confusing?
Are there any elements you wish the Chronicle could include, but haven't been able to come up with a design that worked?

A thing that Nefreet has already included, but I wanted to draw particular attention to:
The current system where the two lines for reputation are the starting and ending reputation in a given faction doesn't work at all when someone is playing with a higher level pre-gen and holding the chronicle, and the only value known is the increase in reputation. (I might be running for a lot of pre-gens in a certain 3-6 Wayfinders scenario.) Most of the GMs in my area are in the habit of just squeezing all three values onto the two lines (ex: 14+2=16). It may not be what the Guild Guide says, but it makes the result more clear.

I wanted to post Version 4 yesterday, but was too busy prepping last night's scenario.
Sometime in the next few days.
And now, two weeks later...

• Compartmentalized the tables for Experience, Fame/Infamy and Credits from the main Chronicle section and the GM section below by adding a buffer space.
• Removed redundancies on the right side tables and reduced most cells to just "Starting", "Gained", "Spent" and so on (rather than having "Starting Credits", for example, inside the Credits section).
• Narrowed the space for the cells containing those words.
• At the top right, changed "Subtier" to "Subtier Played".
• At the top right, added "(Circle Amount Gained)" under Max Credits.
Point of discussion:
Due to some resolution hiccups during formatting, I think the fonts became smaller. I didn't realized until the final product, since I was often zoomed in so close for detail. Let me know how the sizing looks. Making everything larger might pose a problem.

I printed out version 4 and looked at it using my regular rather than my office/computer glasses. Most of it is fine for me at that type size. The writing in the Factions & Reputation section is a little challenging, especially the greyed out areas. This will be more so in the dim light conditions often present at gaming venues. That said, I think it is acceptable and it is pretty easy to learn that section. The layout makes it obvious what to do. :-)
