Background: we ganked and looted two sarcesian snipers a couple levels ago and got their rifles. They mouldered in the loot bag until we got to a place we could sell them. Then we hit a snag.
They're the level 7ish? rifles with a listed value of 17k. Now if this is the price for a medium sized rifle then each of these sells for 3400 each because sarcesians are large and thus use large equipment. Which in turn means that large enemies have effectively x2 value loot. If the 17k is the value of a large rifle then pcs can buy a 2d8 gun for 8500 credits.
So double value loot or half price gear?

Well, weapons built for larger creatures don’t have a cost increase, while weapons built for smaller ‘typically cost double.’
I would say that, since these are Sarcesian rifles for Sarcesians, the listed cost is the correct cost. If you wanted a smaller one for a medium creature, it would be double.
Also, things sell for 10%, so you could sell them for 1,700 each, or 3,400 total.

That's an interesting thought that I had not considered, reversing the rule that equipment for larger creatures costs double. I can see the logic behind it, you're assuming that things have a "standard size" and it's the deviation from that standard that increases costs.
I wonder what other effects such an assumption might cause.

Yeah, there is no price change until you get to huge and larger, or tiny and smaller.
The Pact Worlds have so many diverse races that manufacturers take the most common sizes (small, medium, and large), as well as a wide range of unusual anatomy, into account.
That's why a suit of armor or laser rifle costs the same, whether it was made for a small halfling, a large shobhad or a morlamaw.
Such items can even be readily picked up and used by wildly different creatures and characters, though (as with the case of armor) some items may need a few minutes worth of modifications first. Due to the wide variety of races, this should probably remain a case by case decision made by the GM.
Only relics and trade goods sell for more than 10%.
