PFS and non-PFS players in Organized Play

Silver Crusade

I'm thinking about GMing a PFS adventure. The trick is that some of the players might "care" about accruing XP and others will not.

I feel like this HAS to have come before but I couldn't find it in the FAQ.

Is it a hard requirement that all players "care and get logged" or can it be logged for just the subset of players who give a hoot?

If there are non-PFS characters at the table, then it is not a PFS game.

They could opt to play Pregens, and throw away the Chronicle Sheet when they're done, but it must still be reported.

So, at minimum, everyone needs to have a valid number, and then at that point it's just "yep, they used a pre-gen, nothing accumulated for them" or whatever. whereas the folks who "care" can use their continuing character.

In theory (in that model) NotCaringPlayer can just keep using the pre-gen character for "their Favorite class" appropriate to whatever the adventure of the week is. while CaringPlayer grinds their custom build level by level?

I suppose that makes some sense.

Can you explain why you're placing the word "care" in air quotes?

I feel like I'm not understanding the tone you're trying to convey.

Because if someone doesn't care to be there, why are they there at all?

You could also run part of an AP in campaign mode. That way everyone can play characters that want to and some get credit to apply to legal characters.has to be approved AP.
