Vampires in Starfinder

Rules Questions

So, i'm not really sure where this would go, so i'm going to post it up here, and hope for the best. Recently, my players asked me if vampires exist within the universe of StarFinder. with it being the distant future of PathFinder, i told them i would assume so. But now the question has me thinking. So, i have went through the Core Rulebook, the Alien Archive, and the SRD. And i have found nothing of mention for vampires. Honestly, i find the idea of Vampires wandering the galaxy upon extravagant tomb ships looking for the next buffe- ehrm, that is, i mean, perspective business associates, a great one.

So i guess my question is, is there a way to apply the Vampire Template from Pathfinder to Starfinder, or am i in vampire limbo here? i know there are the conversion rules, but honestly, i have no clue how i would convert a template over. ive done a stop gap not so pretty conversion of kobolds using those rules, but they are utter garbage i think as the conversion makes my head spin. i mean i am totally willing to do this, but i just want to make sure that it hasnt been done already before i spend the time to do it, and make my players wait.

We have a jiang-shi vampire in Splintered Worlds, the 3rd Dead Suns adventure. That's not the same, but it might give you guidance.

what is dead suns? is it a source book or an adventure module? if adventure module, i do not own any of the adventure modules at all. just the core book, alien archive, and the pact worlds book...i'd really like to not have to convert the vampire template from pathfinder to starfinder, because i have not yet attempted any conversions yet and it looks to be quite complicated.

Dead suns is the first Adventure path. Here is the Jiang-Shi template from splintered Worlds page 60:

JIANG-SHI VAMPIRE TEMPLATE GRAFT (CR 5+)
When a restless spirit does not leave its corpse at the time of death and instead festers and putrefies within its decomposing mortal shell, it can eventually rise as an undead jiang-shi vampire. Required Creature Type: Undead.
Suggested Array: Any.
Traits: Blindsight (breath) 60 ft.; DR 10/magic; cold resistance 10; jiang-shi weaknesses.
Abilities: Deft claws, drain chi, hopping gait, prayer scroll. Suggested Ability Score Modifiers: Dexterity, Wisdom.

And a description of it's abilities:
Deft Claws (Ex)

Spoiler:
A jiang-shi’s claw attack has the grab ability (Starfinder Alien Archive 155) and the operative weapon special property.

Drain Chi (Su)

Spoiler:
When a jiang-shi succeeds at a grapple combat maneuver, it can drain “chi,” or life energy, by drinking its victim’s breath. A victim must succeed at DC 16 Fortitude save or gain 1 negative level and be staggered for 1d4 rounds.

Hopping Gait (Ex)

Spoiler:
A jiang-shi moves by hopping, and its land speed is reduced by 10 feet from its base creature’s speed (this adjustment is already included in the statistics above). A jiang-shi ignores difficult terrain and can’t be tripped. Other speeds (such as fly and swim speeds) are unaffected by this ability.

Jiang-Shi Weaknesses (Ex)

Spoiler:
A jiang-shi is held at bay by cooked rice, mirrors, or ringing a handbell. It must stay at least 5 feet away from the object of its revulsion and cannot touch or make melee attacks against a creature brandishing such an object. Holding a jiang-shi at bay is a standard action. After being held at bay for 1 round, a jiang-shi can attempt a DC 20 Will save at the beginning of its turn to act normally.

Prayer Scroll (Su)

Spoiler:
The holographic prayer scroll at a jiangshi’s brow grants immunity to any effects from spell gems or other items that store spells, as if the jiang-shi had unbeatable spell resistance. It also grants the jiangshi fast healing 5 and prevents the jiang-shi from being destroyed. When reduced to 0 Hit Points, a jiang-shi crumbles to dust, but it re-forms in 1 minute with 1 Hit Point in the nearest unoccupied space. Scattering the dust or mixing rice into the dust with a dose of vinegar before the jiang-shi re-forms destroys it permanently.

My advice would be to pick out the parts you think are essential to the Vampire, and find equivalent rules or abilities in the Alien Archive, or use try and match them to how starfinder does things.
A point of advice is that Pathfinder monsters tend to have many many more of what Starfinder considers special abilities, so directly converting a monster can be overwhelming, or turns the monster into a gimmick fight.

I recommend investing in the adventure paths, and maybe even the society modules. They are chock full of additional rules content for both GMs and players.

At a rough guess, I'd say it accounts for at least a 10th of readily usable material out there. Sure makes Starfinder seem much larger during these early days of development.

There are unequivocally vampires in the Pact Worlds. They are part of Eoxian undead society (they get mentions, if not stats like the specific jiang-shi variant, in the Splintered Worlds module). There's no reason there couldn't be non-Eoxian vampires too -- techno-vampires, cyber-vampires, alien psychic vampires, what have you -- but I think it's safe to assume vampires exist and can be drawn from pretty much any sapient race.

If you're not fussed about having the latest "official" statblock you can just adapt vampires on-the-fly from Pathfinder. The Legacy rules in the CRB discuss how to do this.

all of these are great suggestions. right now, im thinking of looking inot dead suns, and some of the other adventure paths. ill probably give in and start the conversion of vampire from pathfinder, or just homebrew it up...and do my best.
