The SFS modules do give CRs for the challenges you face, so you can look them up in the Core Rulebook. Is there a particular encounter in some module that has you stumped?
The combat encounters come with CRs tacked onto enemy stat blocks. I didn't see any CRs listed on the non-combat encounters. That's what's got me stumped.

Alternatively, if you are okay with a “quick and dirty” method...
• SFS characters earn 1 XP per module and 3 XP per AP booklet.
• SFS characters gain a level every 3 XP.
• Ergo, you could just award 1/3 of the XP your heroes need toward their next level. It ain’t precise, but it’s quick.
There's the answer I was looking for. The people of Absalom Station thank you for your service, Batgirl.

I will be doing the the ap with society stuffs. My solution is that the players will be leveling with milestones in story. In mine they will level at the end of the first ap book and then we will go into the first two society stories. By then they will be level 3...
I've heard a lot of chatter on the forums about the end boss of "Incident at Absalom Station" being a very difficult encounter. The suggestion was to level the party before they face it. That's why I chose to include "The Commencement" for additional XP and gear rewards. FYI in case you want to consider doing the same. :)

I do recall running an SFS adventure with a trap that was given a CR.
For non-combat encounters that could also be combat encounters, you should probably award the same XP as if they defeated that encounter in combat.
You probably shouldn't award any XP for a briefing from the Venture Officer. ;)

Oh sure. But I think that's more an accident of the standard trap formatting than anything. CR comes included in the trap stat block.
I dunno if you've run through The Commencement yet (minor spoilers I guess), but two of its four mini-adventures include things like a "junk race" (read: pod race) and making first contact with an alien life form (read: making a bunch of skill checks). Those are the sorts of CR-not-included encounters that prompted the ask.
