If I upgrade my ship so I have 3 light weapons in the front, can I link them to all fire at the same time? How much would it cost? My thought is that if it cost half the BP of the first weapon to link it to second, it should cost another half of the BP of third weapon to link it to the second. In effect, I pay the BP cost of 4 weapons and can shoot all 3 with a single action.
Thoughts?

Likely this should go under the rules area. Flagging it to be moved.
Rules are pretty clear. On page 301, in the sidebar, it states that two of the same direct-fire weapon in the same firing arc can be linked together.
So if looking to home rule it, what you suggest seems reasonable. Just be careful of power creep. Linked weapons only require one gunnery check. And they don't suffer from the penalty for firing two weapons at the same time but the same gunner.

I need to get better at starship rules... if you get four weapons in an arc can you link them into two separate pairs and then fire all four with only the penalties from two?

Yes you can. If you really want to go all-out, start off with two turrets so you can fire them no matter what arc the enemy is in. Bonus points if you upgrade them to heavy weapon mounts! :D

Why do you believe more should be allowed (besides the coolness factor)?
Mostly because I can't think of a practical reason why it couldn't be done.
Just strikes me as an entirely arbitrary rule put in place for (presumably) balance' sake. Thing is though, linking weapons is generally a weaker option than using them separately, so I don't see why such a rule would even exist for that purpose.
