GMing Starfinder Society with a regular group of players and in character creation the Android Mechanic asked two questions that I'll put here with my answers. but it would be nice to get confirmation that I made the right calls.
Q1) "Can I have his Custom Rig installed into his Android armour slot?"
My Answer) Yes, the Mechanic Custom Rig can be installed on any armour slot and the Android slot says it can take anything that can fit into Light Armour.
Q2) "Can I put Tensile Reinforcement into my Android slot and gain extra hit points and Hardness?"
My Answer) No, you are not an item.

Fantastic, just wanted to be certain.
It's a huge waste of an armor slot to install a custom rig.
Install it with a datajack
At lower levels I would have to disagree, A datajack costs credits, putting it in your armor upgrade slot is free.
Getting another useful armor enhancement that can work with the Android body will probably take a few levels to start with so why not put it into the armor slot?
Enhancement slots are swappable with minimal effort so not spending credits at low level is not needed seems smart.
Q) do i have to remove my Custom Rig to use it?
No. Your custom rig can be implanted many places as per the listing in mechanic and it is usable no matter what.
The main advantages of implantation is that it will not get damaged and you have it available 24/7. The disadvantage will be that you use up that implantation location so cannot add other options there later unless you move the Custom Rig somewhere else.
at higher lvl i can use the jetpack but im using armor how would that work?
The jetpack would work fine. It specifically says "Regardless of whether androids are wearing physical armor, they can use this slot to install any one armor upgrade that could be installed into light armor."
Armor upgrades can be put in and taken out with the appropriate skills.
