I've had some time to think about this and, although it seemed like a good idea, I see now that you have been greatly wounded by this and I wish to sincerely apologize. You are a good person and a fine player. I really like how reasonable and level-headed you are and I know that you'll accept this in the spirit of continued friendship in which it is offered.

Hello there!
I'm playing more rpgs via discord and this forum.

Hello. :) It’s my birthday, today, so let’s have a virtual drink to celebrate. ;)

Hello. :) It’s my birthday, today, so let’s have a virtual drink to celebrate. ;)
Happy Birthday!
I am currently pouring a glass of whiskey in your honor.
Tairin of the Veils |

Everyone in my family (immediate and extended) are scotch drinkers except for me. I’ll sip on my piña colada. ;) Thanks for the bday wishes, Yasala & Mal. Hands you each a piece of birthday cake.

Yasala |

I'm primarily a scotch drinker too.
Today I wanted to go with a nice Irish, so I'm drinking Clontarf...instead of that horrible Jameson crap :P

Thanks Tairin. (Imma eat the cake first and leave the frosting for later.)

Ouch Yasala. That hurts me. That hurts me...on the inside. =p
So, guys...just how good is Band Maid?

Patenemheb Sitayet |

Happy birthday, Tairin!
I can't drink at the moment but if I did imbibe a spirit, it would most likely be whiskey. Jameson is a solid standard imho.
I wasn't familiar with Band Maid but they sound quite fun.

Tairin of the Veils |

Thanks for the birthday wishes, Paten. :)

Patenemheb Sitayet |

I currently have an earache so my response time might be affected.

Tairin of the Veils |

I hope everyone is safe and doing well.
Dain GM, do you have an idea when you will be restarting the game? I was just curious and I don't want us to lose too much momentum or motivation with the time lapsing. Thanks. :)

Patenemheb Sitayet |

I'm doing fine here. Both of us still working from home.
All the best to everyone.

Patenemheb Sitayet |

Xoth adventure books such as "The Spider God's Bride" have gotten a version in the Legend system. They all seem to be on sale at the moment at drivethrurpg.

Dain GM |

I've been dealing with a lot lately. The stress of quarantine has been really hard for me; as well as financial and personal issues. I do my best to get by, but I've had to see someone due to how it's effecting me personally.
I will say that I would like to get back to playing, too. Restarting anything when there's stress is not easy for me at this point. I will be okay coming back, hopefully, but I'd like to be sure that when that happens everything is as positive and upbeat.
If you guys are still out there and interested in playing, please let me know.
Thank you.

Tairin of the Veils |

I am here for now; however I am presently considering taking an extended leave of absence from the Paizo board (with no set time frame on when I will be returning). At this stage, I'm simply but seriously thinking it over and haven't made up my mind entirely. I am unsure how much time you will need before resurrecting the game, Dain GM. Once I make up my mind, I'll advise further. Thanks.

Patenemheb Sitayet |

I am still about and would enjoy resuming playing.
That said, I am patient so take all the time you need Dain.

I apologize for my absence. Things have been complicated in my life due to personal issues. While I have not formally returned to work, I have been provided with a temporary job assignment which has me working at 5:30 AM until 2:00 PM which started last week (I have today off, luckily).
I am adjusting to that schedule, but the exercise and being outside (I am doing outdoor work; it's not easy, but not difficult, but it's fresh air and bright - albeit hot/warm - sunshine) is doing me good.
I am going to go back and re-read the posts on the board and then do what I can to get things started again, but expect something later tonight.
Thank you all for your patience and I hope to talk to you soon!
PS - Discord allows for Voice Conversations. I believe we're all on the formal Discord Server. At some point I'd like to do a group chat to help get a sense of what's up and how to make this more fun for all of us; it doesn't have to happen at once, but it's something I would like to do as I think that text-based communication is complicating our communication skills. So if everyone can start considering a time when we can all do a "group chat" that would be great.

Good to hear from you!
I'm glad you're doing better :)
I'm alright with some voice conversations, but I need to schedule it ahead of time. The reason I play with PBP so much is because of my tight schedule. I am only available in the evenings on weekdays, and on the weekends.
Also I advise before moving with another gameplay post that we get a recap of where we are to avoid any confusion.

G'day Dain!
You're a landscapper? I am honestly surprised by that. All this time I imagined you in an office of some nature, with one of the "TEAM Together Everyone Achieves More" pictures on a wall. ^_^
If you are outside for any period of time, I STRONGLY recommend wearing a hat. Sunlight for any duration does surprising things to the body, and a simple hat (I recommend a big floppy thing) can mitigate much.
To speak with speak is simply too herculean a task for me. I've tried this with others and just doesn't work. Suffice that I'll glom on to whatever direction we are heading. I don't think I've been here long enough to start steering the boat, but so long as there is a direction, I shall be content.
Were I to give council, I'd only advise that we are put into another module/AP or whatnot. For however little RP Against The Giants might have, one can never say the party lacks direction.

Patenemheb Sitayet |

Hail, Dain!
I'm glad to hear that you're doing better and of a return to this campaign.
I'm not opposed to arranging a voice chat but I'm often occupied in the evenings and for large chunks of the weekend. It's doable though with enough notice.

Dain GM |

Thank you all for your support; I appreciate it!
No worries about the time/date of an audio Discord Meeting, but it's something I'd like to do; though we have a bit of time to do it, I suppose.
Mal - actually, I teach. However, I can't work as the schools are closed. Therefore, the County I work for has allowed those people out of work due to the schools being shut down to have temporary jobs. Currently I'm working that temporary job :)

Tairin of the Veils |

I'm open to a voice chat via Discord. Just teeing up a time suitable to all may pose a problem since I'm in a different hemisphere.

Dain GM |

Sorry for the delay; I had a bit of a dizzy spell and have been resting. Normally I would try to jump right in and do some writing, but honestly, there's just so much to catch up on it will take me a bit longer than I anticipated to get things going again.
What I think I'm going to do is going to sum up the nuances of what has occurred during your personal issues and go from there soon; with the optional variable of a more detailed example of social RP if you'd like it.
I should add - in the past there had been some issues with a bit of friction with the inter-party dynamic. I understand that can happen, but I prefer it if it doesn't. Thanks!

Patenemheb Sitayet |

Take time as needed.
Well, we can try to avoid those with clear communication etc.

Tairin of the Veils |

Dain GM, have you considered taking on another mini adventure from the Xoth world, such as 'Land of the Silver Lotus' and its mysteries? It's a stand-alone sword and sorcery adventure, still set in the world of Xoth, and has the party sailing from Iraab in Zadj to the verdant isles of the Silver Lotus. (Since we're currently in Khazistan, we could always travel down to Zadj and go from there.) That way you can use the source material provided in this new mini adventure, Pathfinder compatible game, and tweak it accordingly, just like you did with The Spider Bride. You could incorporate all the mini character stories on this new adventure course (as a starting off point) and that way each character gets a chance to work toward meeting their personal goals/objectives while pursuing a greater party goal.

Tairin of the Veils |

Hello, all. I hope you’re keeping well.
After some careful consideration, I have decided not to continue on with this game and am respectfully withdrawing. I’m going to use any free time I have on other, personal projects I’ve been putting off for way too long. I’m hopeful that Tairin and Sabra can be quietly written out of the adventure once Dain starts up the game, again. (I don’t wish for her to be botted in game for I may repurpose her somewhere down the track.)
I’m thankful for the opportunity I’ve had to play alongside you guys and to have fun playing Tairin. I wish you all well and happy gaming. :)
Best Regards,
Tairin.

That is unfortunate, but we were forewarned so not really unexpected.
With that development, I have some thoughts.
1) Ever since she warned us of her leaving, I toyed around with a few minor changes that would make me more diplomacy-oriented. I'd still not be as powerful as a true face-class, but useful all the same.
2) If we're looking for a replacement, since doing a Recruitment for one player, of a specific role, is just silly, I have in mind a few good candidates. Veteran players each, with time and talent suited to an RP-heavy genre.
Unless someone else wanted to invite someone else? I'd not want to step on anyone's toes, but I should think I could find a replacement within the week, if that would be pleasing.

Patenemheb Sitayet |

@Tairin: I'm sorry to see you go. But fair enough and understood.
I'm open to putting out feelers to veteran players but not opposed to the recruitment thread either.

Patenemheb Sitayet |

I may not be able to post again until Saturday. Just a heads up.

Patenemheb Sitayet |

I'll be travelling this weekend and I won't be posting again until Monday at least.

Patenemheb Sitayet |

Just a note. My rate of posting has gotten more erratic lately. It may remain that way for some weeks yet.
