You failed your will save versus its frightful presence... why would you willingly drop on it?
duration is usually 5d6 rounds. This ability affects only opponents with fewer Hit Dice or levels than the creature has. An affected opponent can resist the effects with a successful Will save (DC = 10 + 1/2 frightful creature’s racial HD + that frightful creature’s Charisma modifier; the exact DC is given in the creature’s descriptive text). On a failed save, the opponent is shaken, or panicked if it has 4 Hit Dice or fewer. An opponent that succeeds at the saving throw is immune to that same creature’s frightful presence for 24 hours. Frightful presence is a mind-affecting fear effect.
You would be panicked!!!
Panicked: A panicked creature must drop anything it holds and flee at top speed from the source of its fear, as well as any other dangers it encounters, along a random path. It can’t take any other actions. In addition, the creature takes a –2 penalty on all saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks. If cornered, a panicked creature cowers and does not attack, typically using the total defense action in combat. A panicked creature can use special abilities, including spells, to flee; indeed, the creature must use such means if they are the only way to escape.

We are more then 4 hit dice. Wouldn't we just be shaken?

With our 8HD, we should be shaken, not panicked.

According to what you posted above
"On a failed save, the opponent is shaken, or panicked if it has 4 Hit Dice or fewer. An opponent that succeeds at the saving throw is immune to that same creature’s frightful presence for 24 hours. Frightful presence is a mind-affecting fear effect."
It is 4 hit dice or fewer, not 4 hit dice fewer then the dragon.

I'm gonna change Davod's post in Gameplay to reflect the ruling.

So this weekend has been crazy! Friday I took about 4 hours to prep for my IRL campaign... 11 hour session on Saturday! They took out a 5 layer dungeon!!! They started as 8th, ended at 9th. Close to 10. I stayed up late with my wife until 4 am, no kid. She plays with my group, yes she sleeps with the DM!!!! So Sunday was recovery, school/work prep...
Monday was long. Robotics Club and time with my son. Catching up now...

She had always carried a storm in her breath—a draconic discipline that shaped every motion, every strike, every heartbeat. As a Scaled Fist Monk, her spirit had been honed like a talon: sharp, unyielding, disciplined. The essence of dragonkind coiled within her muscles, filling her limbs with explosive grace. Each stance echoed ancient wyrm-lore, every breath technique a tribute to scales, fire, and majesty.
But even dragons cast shadows.
It was during a hunt through a forsaken city—alleys drowned in dusk and streets thick with silence—that the second path found her. A darkness unlike any she had known curled at the edges of her vision, not cold but intentional, as if waiting for her alone. She sensed no malice in it… only a challenge.
She met the challenge head-on.
From the gloom emerged the silhouette of a master thief—faceless, voiceless, composed entirely of shadow and instinct. He did not attack; he invited. His hand, draped in living midnight, stretched toward her chest. Not to harm, but to offer a pact.
A pact not of surrender—but of evolution.
When their palms met, shadow wrapped around her forearm like ink seeking parchment. It did not drown her inner dragon. It tested it.
And her dragon roared back.
Power collided—scaled ferocity against silent cunning. Yet neither force sought dominance. They circled each other in her mind, sparks and smoke, until strength recognized subtlety… and subtlety acknowledged strength. Then, in a single breath, they intertwined.
Shadow sank into muscle. Discipline wove through darkness.
She inhaled—and the darkness obeyed her.
She struck—and her fist left a dragon’s echo in the air.
Her eyes opened to a world brighter and dimmer all at once. The shadows welcomed her as kin, but they bowed to her will. Her steps made no sound. Her presence folded into the night like a blade into a sheath. The dragon within her body now moved with the precision of a master thief—silent, focused, unstoppable.
She had become something new:
A predator of twilight.
A draconic silhouette dancing between light and dark.
A monk whose scales gleamed even in absolute night.
Where dragons bring fear, she brought silence.
Where rogues vanish, she appeared with the inevitability of thunder.
Heroism, she realized, was not always forged in fire or brilliance.
Sometimes it was born in the perfect union of discipline and shadow.

I am thinking either an investigator or a barbarian, please help!
Kazko
|
I think Investigator gives Aukan more interesting things he can do. Barbarian generally just lets him hit things harder. Which can be easier if you don't want to try and remember all of his abilities.

Kazko went back to being an Alchemist (Vivisectionist). When I became Gestalt did I have all my extracts and mutagen ready to go or will I need to take time to make them?
Kazko

Awesome.
| Davod Mohidoon |
Sorry. I thought the giant was higher on initiative.
| Davod Mohidoon |
Many happy returns on your blessed birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Davod's about to get his ass kicked. How are you?
Kazko
|
Last week was pretty busy.
Assuming we live, Kazko needs to learn from this and get a weapon he can use against things he doesn't want to touch in the future.
Kazko

The Sublime template would be super nice. I would heal quite a bit faster.
Kazko
|
Kazko's damage is listed for each round. But it will go up as he is hit.
| Davod Mohidoon |
Come back when you can.

Sounds good!

I will have traveling from Friday March 6th, until Saturday March 21st. I will try and keep up posting, but please feel free to bot me as needed.
| GM Wolf |
I will be throwing in a major move tonight!!!
I do have to apologize this weekend, with a bit of sickness and almost a trip to the ER I had to be DAD a lot of time and after all that stress just relaxed. Be glad I didn't post in the last 12 hours my villian side truely wanted out. If you are up for some epic vileness just give me an XXX and it will be unleashed.
Anyways heres to our continued game and please remind me of hooks!!! I try to weave them in but there are so many!
| Davod Mohidoon |
Glad you are feeling better, GM Wolf!
The group is at the end of a dungeon that's kicking Kazko and Davod's butts. After we get out, and maybe get a new earth genie follower, the group should decide where it wants to go next.

Take care and hopefully no more emergency ER visits.

I need to be gestalted.... suggestions on class
The class will be stunted as she just gained the sublime template.
I was thinking sorcerer but I am looking for suggestions.
| Nima Lily |
Cleric/Sorcerer here.
After this fight we are 9th levels, correct?
| Sasha Line |
Right 9th level!
Scaled Fist monk/rogue here.
Also if either of you are lawful I can train you as a Scaled fist monk to get that cha to AC! A 2nd level gets you evasion!!!
| Aukan the Goliath |
Hmmmm
Oh dear goodness it looks like I never picked up my other gestalt class
...
I am a 7th fighter/ 1 scaled fist!
What other class should I be! I feel barbarian would be great but I believe I am Lawful Good... lemme check!
Nope shifted out into NG... though I feel like I have been really lawful to be honest.
What do you guys think?!

Sorcerer might be good. Fighter might be better with that Strength.

Barbarian would fit.
I just joined up but I believe I need to be adjusted anyway.
Presently I am a stone maiden though we know I am far more than that. So I need to be reforged!!!
Maybe Earth-blooded sorcerer.
Kazko

Sorcerer does seem good.
I think Slayer might be better then Barbarian. It's a bit more straight forward and Studied Target is awesome.
Earth=Blood Sorcerer works or maybe a cleric of the earth?
| Aukan the Goliath |
We already have technically two sorcerers... Slayer was a good choice... But investigator gives me everything I want and more! Studied strike/precise strike.
I totally forgot about Investigator! Oooh and Engineer will work great for everyone!!!
I got something for everyone!!! A little mechanism...
Custom Mechanism (Ex): An engineer can create a mechanism, a small device that assists with the execution of an activity. Creating a mechanism requires 1 minute of time and expends 1 use from the engineer’s inspiration pool. An engineer chooses a skill to associate with the mechanism when he creates it. As an immediate action, a mechanism can be activated to grant the engineer’s inspiration die on a check of the associated skill. An engineer can create a mechanism that affects attack rolls or saving throws, but she expends 2 uses from her inspiration pool to do so. Any creature can use a mechanism, but a creature can have only 1 mechanism at a time, as multiple mechanisms interfere with each other while in close proximity. A mechanism remains active for a number of minutes equal to the engineer’s Intelligence modifier (minimum 1). At 5th level, an engineer’s mechanisms remain active for a number of minutes equal to the engineer’s level.
Using 2 from my pool for each of us... So for the first fight we all get +1d6 on attacks for 7 minutes!
3 hours later and still working on it all. Just for one of many of us!
| Pharos Alexandria |
Pharos is almost complete! Just need to do her spells and Monk things!
Kazko

Awesome, I will try and level up tomorrow.
