For some reason the first thing that came to mind was Goblin Steve-O.
Adventures are a prime area to do (or get other people to do) massively stupid and harmful (for themselves and others) stunts after all and nothing makes Goblins (and many Pact Worlders no doubt) happier than seeing other people doing crazy things and some amount of suffering going around.

He's a celebrity because...
1d100 ⇒ 47 Item
2d100 ⇒ (35, 9) = 44 Found Cargo for...
1d1000 ⇒ 183 Clown
Okay! Sometime in the not too decent past, Zardon overheard a clown talking to his employer about how some things were missing. Now, this was a problem, because said clown had been hired for a big show with some kids.
Deciding to make the most of the opportunity, Zardon used his savvy skills and tracked down the missing cargo (by whatever means you wanted), and returned them in spectacular fashion after a very public event of some kind (beat a monster in a gunfight?). His face got plastered all over the news for a bit, and he's become a minor, rather entertaining celebrity to people in the area, especially since he found a way to capitalize on his fame, boldly announce himself, and generally stay in their thoughts.

Combat-wise, Envoys mostly just stand there and tell other people what to do rather than doing stunts themselves. I would think an Icon would be closer to the HOST of the show than the star.
This is somewhat misleading. At anything past the lowest levels Envoys often wind up acting directly, they just spend their Move actions buffing rather than other stuff.

He was the star of a show called, "Gobster."
Gobster is the heartwarming tale of a young Goblin adopted by a Lashunta family after his own family passed away in a tragic accident. The show is a sitcom that interspaces itself with moments of true heartwarming feels.
Gobster is known for his catch phrases:
"Whatchoo talkin' 'bout longshank?"
"Did Gobster do that?"
"Is Gobster gonna have to choke a (censored)?"
Gobster also had a short lived rap career with such hits as:
Gettin' Gobby With It!
Will the real Gobby please stand up?
And who could forget:
"Green Skinned Gobby"
"Alright stop, grab your ears and listen,
Gobby's back with a brand new invention,
Something grabs a Gobby nightly,
What I killed for dinner was quite unsightly,
Will Gobby ever stop..."

Clever Attack + Get 'Em seems like the best thing to default to when circumstances don't require movement or the use of another ability or item, though, and many of those other abilities do also amount to giving out tactics advice or encouragement, hence my evaluation of the visual flavour of the class.
I kind of picture a Goblin dressed in an awful suit like a wacky game show host or something.

Clever Attack + Improved Get Em also gives you the ability to make an attack. That being the case, you'll usually wind up making an attack (and, if going optimally, probably with an unwieldy and thus impressive weapon). There'll be exceptions to that, but it's gonna be the norm. And Clever Attack and Get Em are both fairly flashy thematically, at least potentially.
Which is to say, the visual flavor of the Class at it's most optimal is making a single extremely flashy and impressive attack most turns.

(I stole some plot bits for this from John Varley's The Golden Globe.)

I totally agree with this. And I blame Lord Fyre Cosmo that now I need to rent this movie again for a couple rewatches.

As an envoy/ Icon I would expect him to be a support character that has gain popularity of his own.
Zardov is a popular announcer for "Entertainment Sports" events such as Junk Cycle Racing and Troll Wrestling. His witty but disrespectful commentary of participants combined with actually understanding the rules and strategy of the sports has made him a fan favorite. It has also earned him a few "Stern Warnings" from the performers agents. His nickname comes from his first broadcast job as a bit character on the morning show Hanover, Zagreb and --. Initially he only support characters for the hosts comedy skits but quickly became a regular part of discussions and his own skits. Despite his increased role and popularity he was never credited in the shows title. To his fans he will forever be know as "--".

Icon makes you famous in a profession of your choice. So step one: choose a profession. Step two, decide why you are famous in that profession, noting that your celebrity at level 1 will be fairly minor. So you could be a video icon and be a version of jackass. You could be a smuggler and famous for pulling off (or failing to pull off) a difficult smuggling operation. Any of the many other things mentioned in this thread would work too obviously, but tying them to the mechanics of the theme shouldn't be an afterthought, imo.
