Floaters: Early stage barathus have a base speed of 0 feet and an extraordinary fly speed of 30 feet with average maneuverability. Rolling fast sounds like the right (and funniest) choice
Does a race without land speed get something besides +4 to initiative from Rapid Response (Rapid Response (Ex) You gain a +4 bonus to initiative checks and increase your land speed by 10 feet)?

Sounds good, but I think you should make more tiers and integrate the feat in higher level mods
Is a combat drone with 2 Melee Weapon Arm equiped with battlegloves able to use those arms as Manipulator Arms without the -4 to hit as well as being able to use them for Engineering to disable devices?
I think your party should meet Shalelu a few days afar from Sandpoint, using her as hook and then start at Thistletop, probably finding Aldern Foxglove locked in a cell so they can save him, doesn't really matter these or those goblins. Let Nualia drop her journal (you can find one nicely done around) so the party can then go to Sandpoint knowing everything they need to finish the chapter once they clean the Catacombs of Wrath
