Getting in and out of the Chymic Works[Spoilers]

Carrion Crown

*sorry if this if a double-post. my other post seems to been removed for some reason*

Looking at the map and reading, it doesn't look like there is any way for Vorkstag or Grine to get into or out of their rooms safely. I'm assuming that since the ceiling is 20 feet above the stone platform through the doors from E1, the platform right outside of their rooms is 10 feet above the vats. If that's true, the only way to get to the platform from the vats safely.

So how do they do it? How does Vorkstag get out the front door safely every night?

Edit: Triple post I guess. Sorry. :(

I assumed that they would just lower a rope or a ladder from the top floor and scuttle down. Or they could do this out the service entrance. They raise the ladder/rope and seal it away when they are upstairs to prevent the mongrelmen or juju-zombies causing them grief.

Alternatively, V can just take-10 on a running high jump and catch the ledge from the platform outside E1. He has an obscene Acrobatics score, and must move with bizarre fey-like grace. G can also spider climb up if he feels like it.

This seems as good a place as any to say that though I really like the idea behind the Chymic works, the design of it is truly terrible when taken as a "real building" and not just a set piece.

I'll be running that encounter in a week or two and it seems just... bizarrely set up. Unless I'm missing something I guess.

In another thread, one of the Paizo guys mentioned that there should have been another ladder somewhere.

Although, getting into V&G is also a problem for a LG party with only circumstantial evidence that the two are involved.

There are three ladders in the Chymic works.

Ladder #1 is near door to courtyard. This ladder goes down from the platform to the bottom floor of the Chymic Works.

Ladder #2 is directly east of Ladder #1 near the bleach vat and goes from the top of the Vat up to the catwalk level.

Ladder #3 is due north of Ladder #2 and goes from the top of the acid vat down to the floor of the Chymic works.

To get from the ground floor to the catwalk level you have to walk along the tops of the Vats.

I was transferring the chymic works map to my game mat yesterday and I ran into the same thought. In the end, I decided that Vorkstag and Grime simply walk over the vats when they want to leave the works. Their Acrobatics checks are high enough that they won't need to roll, so it must be exceedingly easy for them. Plus it allows them the opportunity to harangue the mongrelmen working the vats.

Honestly, I don't expect most of my group to notice the peculiar layout of the Works, with the exception of the Alchemist player. He inspects power plants for safety and compliance for a living, so he'll probably have a few choice critiques on V&G's workplace safety priorities. The fact that he can do so in-character is just gravy.
