Rebalancing Ship DC's

So I've taken it upon myself to tweak the ship DC's for our game and am wondering if this is a good way to approach it. The first thing I wanted to do was address the problem of DC's scaling faster than the party themselves so I came up with this set-up:

Pick one:
A) Familiarity: PCs may reduce their own ship’s tier by one when calculating the DC for a stunt or crew action for every 120 hours spent operating or learning about the ship, to a maximum of 5 to tier. These flight hours do not need to be consecutive. These bonuses do not apply to a different ship unless it is an exact replica of the one they are familiar with.
For example: PC’s with 280 hours of flight time may reduce their ship’s tier by 2 when attempting a back off stunt
B) Self-upgraded: PCs who own a ship through multiple consecutive levels may reduce their ship’s tier by one when calculating the DC for a stunt or crew action for every 2nd tier the ship is owned for, to a maximum of 5. This bonus does not apply to another ship unless it is identical to the one they are using.
For Example: a level 7 party who acquired their ship at level 2 may reduce their ship’s tier by 2. If they keep the ship at level 8, they may reduce the tier by 3.

An example of how I'm retooling DCs:
Pilot stunts:
Stunt---Old DC---New DC
Fly-By---20+2x enemy tier---10 + tier + 1/2 enemy gunnery bonus – 5x Maneuver Mod (min 10)
Back Off---10+2x tier--12+tier - 5xManeuver Mod (min 12)
Barrel Roll---10+2x tier---12+tier - 5xManeuver Mod (min 12)
Evade---10+2x tier---12+tier - 5x Maneuver Mod (min 12)
Flip and Burn---15+2x tier---20 + tier -5x maneuver mod (min 20)

The maneuver mod is just the piloting penalty from the ships maneuverability in the CRB (from -2 to +2), such that smaller ships have lower DC's than larger ones in this case.

From my math using sample NPC ships in the CRBthe DC's end up slightly lower than the CRB in the worst case scenario (no familiarity reduction to tier, +10 to dc from maneuver modifier), and notably lower in the better case scenarios (familiarity reductions, maneuverable ships)

What to you guys think about this approach?
