My hubby and I are going on holiday. I intended to GM a Starfinder adventure just for him where he'd play a ghost ope but I have no idea about the story. My opinion was to make him 3rd lvl.
We are not new at playing rpg, so are looking for an interesting story (no bashing, monster, treasure type) but I am very new at being a GM.
I had an idea where his group (outlaws) were all killed at the end of an operation, and where they'd have being betrayed. He'd have to discover who betrayed them. This could be rival outlaws, or even a member of his own group (mission impossible style). Why, I have no idea right now, though. Money, power, pardon of the authorities, threat to a family member... ?
Anyone with ideas to complete mine (because it's rather fuzzy in my mind right now), or completely brand new ones? Thanks

3rd level solo is pretty rough, even against CR 1/8 - CR 1 mooks. Any number of films featuring solo protagonists work fine, especially if he is a fan of such films.
A Fistful of Dollars, for example, features Our Anti-hero the 'Man With No Name' entering a small colony 'ruled' by two rival families that he plays off one against the other to enrich himself at their expense. Things go sideways when his heart of gold melts a bit and he liberates an unfortunate family from the less-pleasant attentions of the head of the somewhat more powerful family. Perhaps your hubby's character follows somewhat conflicting information leading him to 'Hot Water'?
Alternatively, Die Hard is a great film to steal mine for plot and reskinned characters/villains/NPCs for a single player character.
Our Hero (your hubby's character) is on holiday visiting his estranged and much more financially successful wife in a distant station/planet/star system from where he usually calls kip in a last-ditch attempt to make their marriage work amidst the hustle and bustle of interplanetary/interstellar freelance operations (hubby) vs cutthroat capitalism (wife). Needless to say, bad guys show up to rob the wife's employer of a vast supply of untraceable credits by way of using terrorism and hostage-taking as a cover for the robbery. Hilarity and violence ensues, hopefully with a happy ending.
Edit: as a new GM don't be afraid to learn-as-you-go. There is but one way to learn, which is in the doing. Starfinder depends far, far less on "loot drop" for character equipment. Bad guys carry plot items (Hanz' detonators in Die Hard for example), some spare credits, a weapon and a few reloads/spare batteries and other items a John McCain character caught without his kit bag in Winter Holiday Party will need so as to not die a shameful death. Also, for a solo character, don't be afraid to hand-wave the rules a bit. In these examples, Improved Unarmed Strike and Improved Combat Maneuver (grapple) or (disarm) or the like are going to be pretty important and at 3rd level he's not going to have a lot of feats available to absorb circumstances that would deprive him of his normal kit.
Adapt and improvise, you will overcome and enjoy!
