I'll be running a Firefly-esque campaign. Bought the Firefly Map of the 'Verse and everything. Even bought the customizable Firefly Board Game pieces.
I've been collecting Star Trek Attack Wing ships to have in the campaign.
As soon as I get the books, I'll be creating the Notable NPC's (Nisca, Bager, etc...).
Even picked out the "home worlds" of the Player races in the Firefly Verse.

Warhammer 40K, at least for a one-shot. I'm playing in a Dark Heresy game, and I'd really like to run a 1-shot where I port the party into the Starfinder ruleset. And it seems like it should go smoothly:
My PC: Xenoseeker Envoy (which I'd run as an NPC to buff the party)
Wife's PC: Scholar Operative (Hacker)
Friend 1's PC: Priest Soldier (Blitz?), Phrenic Adept
Friends2's PC: Bounty Hunter Soldier (Sharpshooter)
GM's NPC: Ace Pilot Mechanic, with Servitor (drone)

Mass Effect, Star Wars, Stargate, The Elder Scrolls (don't ask), Fallout, and Starbound.
I've been trying to make a fun and simple homebrew Fallout setting for so long. Every thing I've seen from Starfinder makes me think I can eeaaasssily make it work within these rules, along with possible a Destiny setting!

The 1st thing that comes to mind is that Starfinder shouldn't need to be reskinned. Not that I'm so infatuated with the campaign setting... but this is a Core Rulebook! It should contain the rules for creating fun and exciting Sci fi adventures in ANY setting. You didn't have to adventure in Greyhawk or Forgotten Realms in D&D...though that also has become more about itself than the vehicle in which to create your own adventures. I find it annoying that the sourcebooks are so closely tied to a specific Campaign setting that they should require Reskinning.
I was thinking of running a Retro Raygun / Pulp style adventure. Can I do that with Starfinder or am I gonna have to tweak and translate, while wading through page after page that is mostly about Absolam/Golarion/Paizo-Weird Campaign setting specific content?

I suspect you'll be just fine without having to change anything. I don't expect any need of "reskinning" if your world is homebrew/generic. I'll plan to at least try running it in the 40K universe, which will require some light reskinning so as to not break immersion for the players. Mostly I figure I'll be renaming some backgrounds, class features, weapons; that sort of thing,

Secret sentai guardians of a newly industrialized, pre-space civilization/world with a rare resource (Element X) that is also a candidate for joining the galactic republic. This civilization is also being courted by other galactic powers who will do anything to gain access to element X.

Be careful though. Rejecting the default Starfinder setting can be kind of dangerous.

I don't think they are. Not much more so than D&D/PF, that is. It's just that we've gotten so used to "generic D&D" as a setting it's easy to forget it isn't really that generic.
You'd need to reskin PF pretty drastically to make it fit most fantasy novel settings - Tolkein, Song of Ice & Fire, Wheel of Time, Conan, etc, etc. Not surprising you'd have to do the same to make Starfinder fit existing science fiction settings.
You could certainly homebrew something that wasn't the default setting, but worked with the same combination of magic & tech and the same races, etc.

There is a 3rd party making a game called Interface Zero which is a Cyberpunk genre using Pathfinder as one of the interfaces. They already announced that when starfinder comes out they are going to work on a conversion guide and or a supplement to use it. I am excited for that because my players have been playing shadowrun but want the level structure of d20. So lets see what happens.

Dark Heresy, will probably use the rogue trader campaign structure with an almost kingmaker style build a sector trade empire. They will be following in the footsteps of an ancient trader who has left behind a lot of dubious chaos tainted locations and artifacts (Harlock).
I'm really interested to see the quality of the adventures, particularly around maps, which I normally find are a really restricted resource.

I'm working on a homebrew setting based on a possible future of an earth very similar to the one on which 'Rasputin Must Die' takes place. The history of this alternate earth includes an atomic holocaust caused by Hitler (who became a lich and whose power was unchecked by the Soviet Union because Rasuputin had vanished) which necessitated the intervention of time travelers to alter the time stream and prevent said holocaust, which caused earth to become ontologically unstable. I am re-skinning Akiton back to Mars, and Castrovel back to Venus (there were earth colonies on both by the early 20th century). There are many other details, like changing the origin of some of the races (Lashunta will be a Martian race, for example).

Renegade Legion (yeah only old timers will know that one). I loved the setting as much as the innovative mechanics. I can’t really get modern mechanics for it,so I will take the setting.
The damage flowchart for Interceptor was a pain in the arse!
If you have access to Legionnaire, then the conversion should be easier.

My friends and I haven't seen too much of Starfinder yet, but many of them are talking excitedly about using the rule set to play out a Fifth Element campaign, a Guardians of the Galaxy campaign, or an Outlaw Star campaign.
I've heard others mention Dune as well.

HunterWulf |

I will use a universe that mixes concepts from Outlaw Star, Mass Effect, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Tenchi Muyo (TV series, and OVA)
Each campaign I run will probably be with in its own universe as is appropriate for the theme.
My first game will feature a universe where a vast interstellar empire was wiped out about 500 years prior from some mysterious cthulu like force. There were a few survivors and some outlining worlds escaped the destruction. The over arching story involves figuring out how and why it happened.

I could easily see Starfinder being adapted for running games set in the universe of Futurama. Your mechanic's drone could be piloted by the head of your favorite president!
HaHa! I'm probably going to run in the Starfinder universe, I'm planning to use a tone best described as Archer crossed with Futurama.

Sorry for the thread necromancy, but I'd love to learn more about this setting you've postulated! Got anything you can share?
