I think y'all deserve medals for watching that POS Shield show. I didn't make it past 3 episodes.
Marvel's Agennts of S.H.I.E.L.D. had a bit of a rought start, but the characters found themselves and the writing improved about halfway through the first season, and has been a pretty solid show ever since.
Honestly, it improved a lot faster than some classic genre shows, like Star Trek: The Next Generation and Babylon 5... both of which were kind of terrible for their entire first seasons. (First two seasons for ST:TNG in my opinion!)
The first two of ST:TNG were pretty rough but I got through them with the hope that Riker and Picard would get us back to where we needed to be.
I agree with Haladir that once you get past the first season, the rest is very much smooth sailing/better than each one before it.

It's really only the first half of the first season even. Post Hydra-reveal the show drastically improved. I have been rewatching it on Netflix and would probably put AoS far above quite a few superhero shows out there today.
Well Post-Hydra is kind of where Season 1 ended...kind of.
