Kyra Dovan |

Hey all, I'm back and ready to rumble. Thanks for the concern, though!
As for Kyra and Ralk being brought in, it's possible an old friend from the Republic asked her for her help and that's why they're around; she walks the fine line of having been a soldier but is still ostensibly a criminal, so it makes sense that Panaka might be wary but not overtly hostile about it for that reason. Who might have contacted her or why is up in the air, but that was just a thought as to why the two of us less-than-legal types might be around.
Also Ralk, what's the name of our ship? You have any ideas? Part of me says we ought to name it the Naughty Nymph, but that's just me.

Ralk Dall'rey |

Nah, I like that name but not for Star Wars. Here we've got the Intrigue, at least that's the name I've got right now. I considered something flashier but ultimately I like the simplicity of it, and it fits a Bothan ship.

JonJon Banks |

I've decided that Jonjon doesn't like his native accent, and only really speaks it when he's too upset to correct his speech. Kinda like how Moxi from Borderlands only drops her 'accent' when she's caught off guard/really mad.

Sabe |

I've been thinking a lot about how to redeem certain things in the prequels that are racist and sexist without simply eliminating them. That was part of the thinking behind my submission of Sabe. I wanted to add a legit Action Girl to the roster of characters for the prequels.
I think that the way Gungans talk is one of those things that can be redeemed. I think it isn't such a problem that JarJar talks the way he does to the Naboo. The real problem is that he also speaks that way to other Gungans. That is the only language the Gungans have. That would seem to belie the fact that I spent a language on Gungan. It isn't unreasonable for Gungans to have an accent when speaking Basic, but they should have their own language, probably something that can be spoken underwater without confusion. If Gungans say "Meesa" because they have pronouns that aren't declined for some reason, for example because word order provides that information, then it makes sense that they might always use "me" as the personal pronoun.

JonJon Banks |

^That's probably very right, but I'm not a very cunning linguist. I wouldn't be able to portray it accurately that way. Though I do intend on sounding perfectly normal when talking to other gungans, in gunganese, of course.

Ralk Dall'rey |

I actually purchased upgrades assuming that you'd help with the costs, Kyra--since we'd already discussed you being the copilot and all. I believe the total left you deducting 19000 credits, which would leave you with more like 7000 remaining. Even basic maneuvering thrusters would run us 10,000 credits, so unless other people are comfortable pitching in, we can hold onto it for now. (And maybe upgrade the ship in-game.)

Kyra Dovan |

You spent my money? You no-good Bothan son of a b*tch.
I'll deduct that from my credits, then. Also, I noticed something about Emplacement Points earlier and I wanted to note that you can upgrade things past your amount of Emplacement Points, but if the ship is ever disabled completely they all stop functioning and (I think) need to be separately repaired at additional cost, although they may be destroyed. Either way, food for thought.

Anakin.Skywalker |

You spent my money? You no-good Bothan son of a b*tch.
I lol'd.
I'll have some money to be able to be able to put into upgrades once we meet up, too. But I also probably want to get myself a small fighter ship.

Ralk Dall'rey |

Yeah, I figured upgrading in-game could be a neat thing to do. Maybe that can replace the "oh no our ship is suddenly broken haha guess we have to stop" that leads to our meeting Anakin? Instead of a nice ship being disabled, maybe we just realize we really need to upgrade it.
As far as upgrading beyond the Emplacement Points, I did read that as an option, but I don't love it for things we'd want to be more or less permanent additions to the ship (like maneuvering thrusters or, once we can afford them, sensor system upgrades). It's a neat way to slap on stuff that wouldn't be critical to lose or replace, but it also makes me wonder if it's worth it--you're still paying for the full upgrade, with the knowledge that you may well need to replace it down the line. Plus I don't mind ripping out some more cargo space, since I doubt that'll be a huge part of our game, and even if we keep 100 tons base, that's 8 EP right there just waiting for us!
Getting another ship or two isn't a bad plan, especially for the other folks in the party who are skilled pilots. I think there's also a modification that lets you join multiple ships together, and that would be neat--especially considering I'd assume it means you can move between them while traveling.

Kyra Dovan |

I so rarely see anyone actually... use enough cargo space that they ran out, even with stripping the ship nearly bare. My own party in another game here on the boards which we've outfitted with stuff like twin turbolasers and all sorts of other gear, all for only 20 tons of the total 60. I do not anticipate us needing to carry even 40 tons of cargo.

JonJon Banks |

Lightsabers. We're going to be hauling 40 tons of lightsabers. -_- For the clone wars, of course.

Kyra Dovan |

Oh man, what if we made the theory of the "Clone Wars" being a bunch of cloned Jedi true? I mean, it can't be EXACTLY right since we have Obi-Wan who obviously isn't a clone, but that'd be pretty funny.
Our current ship has so much cargo space left it's obscene, we could pack some serious firepower into that thing if we felt like it. No one in my other group has felt that it was necessary quite yet to upgrade to quad-barreled medium turbolasers (with two of each, naturally) on our ship, but I'm sure they'll come around to that idea eventually. I'd love to get a whole bunch more stuff in that ship at some point but I'm guessing we'll get there eventually. This ship though, it's got EP ripe for the making with all that cargo space. Kyra would love a turbolaser or two to fire.

JonJon Banks |

We should have a rack of speederbikes too, just in case. Is that something we can outfit the ship with?

GM Wasted |

Taking the interior space of the ship, it'd be difficult to have so many vehicles in it. There are a couple of things you'll have the options of doing;
You can have one landspeeder type vehicle (there's plenty of options for cool transports) plus one speeder.
Alternatively, you could have six speeder bikes.
Having this many vehicles on board a ship not really designed for it will carry some restrictions, likely making moving about the vessel more difficult, which could seriously hamper you in certain situations.
I will also allow you to build a makeshift "garage" for ground vehicles. You could have as many as you wanted (within reason), but I would assign an emplacement point and credit cost.

JonJon Banks |

Poor Ani-*whack* He'll be fine. Just fine. >_>

JonJon Banks |

Definitely. I don't like it any more than you do. :P

Obi-Wan.Kenobi |

Just got caught up after getting stuck at work a long time. Unfortunately don't have time to post right now, but I'll get one up in the morning. :)

Obi-Wan.Kenobi |

Hrm, woops. I thought I had a higher Use Computer modifier then Ralk but that's not the case. Sorry for stealing your thunder. Obviously the Force willed it? Also, how high is the 2nd floor from the ground?

JonJon Banks |

Im pretty sure a 50 gets me up there. Im also considered to have a running start.

Ralk Dall'rey |

Ah, no problem, Obi-Wan--I didn't see it before you, and your modifier's only one less than mine. Apologies I didn't post yesterday, when I had the chance to do so the site was down.

Obi-Wan.Kenobi |

So I'm at work and don't have access to the exact wording of my Force abilities. Per my recollection though, I should be able to Hawk-Bat Swoop as a standard action (after drawing my lightsaber and igniting it as a swift action via quick draw), right? I'll post tonight when I have access to my info.

JonJon Banks |

Yeah, we're all built for conflict-resolution! :D
I totally bork the tags so sometimes my post will have inaccurate formatting tags. Sorry!
I look forward to this campaign since, as it's based off the movies, we've definitely got a lot of non-combat challenges alongside our pretty blaster-lightsaber battles.
... I don't even know if I'm going to be able to GET a lightsaber. :P
After all, I ain't no Jedi. Also, my spellchecker knows to capitalize the word Jedi. What an amazing world we live in.

Sabe |

I have two thoughts here about things that might make sense to do, but let me know how you feel about them, Wasted.
1. My initial pitch suggested that there was a more familar relationship between Gungans and humans, and that we had a certain distance but not really enmity. If that works, it occurred to me that there might be a dedicated communication system of some sort between the palace and the Gungans, sort of "red phone." It may be that is too sophisticated a notion for the planet. Things here might not be tense enough for anyone to need a red phone. If something like that makes sense, I could maybe take a minute to set up a commlink relay that would let us use that system when we come back. Just a thought.
2. Is there any reason to gather intel or sensor data to take with us? Might be useful to have for planning our next move.

Obi-Wan.Kenobi |

Just a heads up that I will be travelling with (very) spotty internet access from the 7th to the 23rd or so. Sorry for the late notice! Feel free to GMPC me if I'm holding stuff up. :)

Quarsh Panaka |

Okay, this was one of the points that really bugged me about the prequels, especially Episode I. According to the official galaxy map, Naboo is a Mid Rim world. But Tatooine is an Outer Rim world. Luke even calls it the planet furthest from the bright center of the galaxy. This means that the Queen's ship was unable to reach Coruscant, but could reach an out of the way world that's literally in the opposite direction from Coruscant.
I get it was a necessity of the plot, but still. It's one of those inconsistencies that's always bugged me.

Ralk Dall'rey |

Yeah, it's kind of strange. There are a few ways to try and justify it, I guess, but in the end it'll still probably feel half-assed and inconsistent. The best I can figure is orbital patterns and something something hyperspace lanes.

JonJon Banks |

If you zoom in on that linked one, there's a TON of planets on it. I haven't compared to the Wookiepedia one, but it's pretty darn full.

Sabe |

Since we are going to Tatooine, how about a more substantial involvement with Jabba. It might be nice to see Jabba at the beginning of his rise to power. Put a nice bookend on the story that ends in Return of the Jedi.
Also, if my ideas are bugging anyone, especially Wasted, please feel free to tell me to shut it down.
