Non-Standard Racial Heritage Choices

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So I want to know if anyone has any experiences playing a Humam with the Racial Heritage feat but the race selected for the feat was a more monstrous one such as Lizard-Folk, Gnolls, ect.

Looking at the monstrous feat options taking Cloud/Storm or Hill Giant are both viable and grant access to some nice defensive, offensive, and utility options.

Any other monstrous races (other than Orcs since that's obvious) with a good amount of options to them?

Goblins have a feat, called Roll with It, that's like the old/good Crane Wing and better in some ways.

Making a "Half-Goblin" has been something I've been wanting to do for awhile. Glad to see there's more in store other than fire bonuses.

Those fire bonuses can be awesome for a Sorcerer with Profession(Anthropology) that studied Goblins so extensively they copied some of their abilities without realizing it.

If you wanna get really crazy with options, then play a half-elf and take Racial Heritage(pick a race) and grab the Orc Bloodline. That's four different races mixing in one character.

I explained something like that to a friend once because they wanted to be a catgirl drow...

half elf, half orc, or aasimar
racial heritage
dual heritage sorcerer or bloodrager
bloodline trait
that's like 6 different bloodlines converging

The poster child of humanity's promiscuity with anything willing to hop into bed with them.

Racial Heritage (Frost Giant) opens up the Born of Frost feat, which is super nice damage early levels. Especially if you have access to the Wave Spirit's Beckoning Chill Hex.

I like the Racial Heritage (Storm Giant) for Storm Soul, which grants electricity immunity. This has its niche uses.

Does Racial Heritage work with those two?
Wouldn't the type be Giant and not Storm/Frost Giant?

Eg: CG Huge humanoid (giant)
Eg: CE Large humanoid (cold, giant)

I asked about that over a skype chat and the answer I got is you count as both the race by name and at least get its base subtype. Whether you get the secondary subtype (cold) went unanswered.

I haven't done it myself, but what about Racial Heritage (Android)?

I'm sure it could be done but I'd have to see what their racial feats are and what abilities they effect.

Feats: Alien Mindpaths [teamwork with other 'aliens'], Empathy [lose the emotionless special quality you don't have], Nanite Disruption [need Nanite surge racial trait].

Traits: Blood Algorithm [+2 vs pain spells], Cellular Match [no effect], Experimental Escapee [+2 Escape Artist and Strength checks to break free of bonds, grapples, and the like], Nanite Revival [1/day stabilize self while dying].

If you take this Racial Heritage, it's for flavor...

That and to set yourself up for some very technical "yo mama" jokes...

How about catfolk? You could take Catfolk Exemplar then, to get claws. Then the natural ranger attack style to get feats for said claws.

Speaking of claws, changeling heritage gives you access to the Mother's Gift suite of feats, which include SR and natural armor.

Ogre ancestry gives you access to Corrupted Flesh at 6HD, which gives you the stench special ability. Hork...

Racial Heritage (grippli) would give you access to a prehensile tongue with 10 foot reach. Just make sure to gain immunity to electricity. Because we all know what happens to a toad when it gets struck by lightning...

the same thing that happens to everything else.

Dot. Incredibly awesome thread.

Oh cool thanks for pointing those out. Got more?

I'm sure there must be a heritage for that... Cat-folk maybe?

Edit: is were-wolf a possibility at this point, or is that still just a template?

Template still but IIRC Skinwalker is a choice but some feats might be transformation dependent, there's a monstrous feat Skinwalkers themselves can take that causes them to change in a violent and gory fashion which creates difficult terrain and causes a fear effect

Could grandpa have been just a tad more "boney" than you are?:

Obitu.

Those aren't Humanoid so they are a non-starter. In fact it doesn't say WHAT type they are but it does infer that they aren't living [Vivification Virus] and they come from undead. Add to that they are a 3rd party race...

Racial heritage (duergar) plus the Gray Dwarf Magic feat gives you access to duergar SLAs. Invisibility or ironskin once per day at 1st level? Yes please...

And speaking of creeps from below, if grandma liked derro and your Charisma is 20, you can take the Derro Magister feat to get SR=10+CL and several nifty SLAs including at-will levitation.

The number of options open to a kobold are pretty darn cool. I won't enumerate them here, but as the good people at Syrinscape might say: "Yark! Yark!"

A stenchy ogre-man can also get a disgusting breath weapon. But I can't in good conscience encourage such shenanigans, so I leave the research to the reader.

Here you go!

Note that you do have to be 6th level to get the SLAs.

one of them is Tail Terror. Which maybe very NSFW and only appicable to male humanoids. It opens up the use of attachments, too...

LOL you take those feats on a Aasimar that already has a tail, so no one can complain!!! ;)

Which book is that one in?

I demand that a kobold/aasimar couple be featured in the next Adventure Path. I'm serious, Paizo. This is the closest you're going to come to redeeming aasimars for me.
