Originally, the OP compared lichdom to the mythic "Immortal" ability (return to life after anything short of an epic/mythic coup de grace/critical hit) - which needs Mythic Rank 9 to get, so no ascension.
Ascension can get you mythic longevity, though, if I understand it correctly. So, you can fight of old age, but you won't come back from the dead.
"Longevity" is a Tier 1 universal path ability.
It is inferior to the level 20 wizard discovery "Immortality."If you are a high level caster, and willing to exert some effort, either will essentially give you the option to live forever. Clones, Demiplanes, Astral Projection, etc. all make physical destruction highly improbable.
Razmir does have the power to live forever at 19th level, but he would have to recuse himself from this plane of existence and operate through an astral projection.

Very true. All it would take would be Greater Create Demiplane cast twice and Permanency. It'd only cost 20000gp and you could do it at 15th level. Live forever and have all the time you could possibly want in order to find a more portable immortality solution (or, alternatively, just hoard money to expand your permanent demiplane.
